Getting rid of the sentimental items is so hard. They are our reminders of memories. And sometimes you don't think about those memories until you see that sentimental keepsake.

Hi Mariela! This one would definitely be a hard declutter for me. I tend to hold on to the most smallest things and even silly things because I connect with them emotionally. Thanks for the motivation! I love how you said a boy or girl could enjoy the little mermaid! #inclusiveness

Hey Daniel! It's so rough. Hehe yes of course I"m glad you loved that I mentioned that :)

One thing I like to do with stuffed animals I no longer want, but still want to keep, is to hold onto them for any future kids that may be added to the family. My sister is pregnant with her first baby girl (the baby is due in August of this year!), and of course, I feel like she'll really love some of the animals I've kept over the years. If not, then they'll just become a nice little memory for me, stored away in a place that's out of sight and out of mind 😊

Your video helps those new to de-cluttering understand how important it is to wait a few years before de-cluttering sentimental items. You were able to do this task with hard and fast decisions and without a lot of emotion and regrets. But it took you several years to get there. You did great. Too cute how you found your dress and the lid to your memory box.

thank you for sharing your process. it is motivating and inspiring. last weekend, i started to dive into my childhood box too at my parents place.. and i have another box to check. i feel to go back to face this one very soon too to finish to face this as i feel it is time too :) so your video comes in perfect time to give me the impulse to continue this this weekend :) thank you :)

I donated my cds. I found a music enthusiast on fb. I have Spotify. I have the memories in my mind. But i do understand the struggle. I have lots to still declutter of sentimental things

Hey Mariela! What an amazing job decluttering and especially sentimental stuff! I really enjoyed going through it with you and see all the stuff you kept growing up. Aah… the passage of time! I have kept all of my CD’s and their inserts and will probably always keep them. I think of vinyl albums and how they have come back in popularity and the photography and artwork on those albums are really awesome and so the CD’s could also hold some value for collectors in the future too! By the way, don’t be jealous, but my daughter at the age of about 16 was hired to be in the background of Mary Kate and Ashley’s video that they did at the mall of America, (we live in MN) and she even has her name credited at the end of the video as an executive producer, Lol Mainly, she had the same hair color as the Olsen twins, so they had her sit for lighting. She also is in some background shots in the food court and at the very end, when they have the dance party in the rotunda, she is holding up very long tall sticks with puppets on the end of them, that she had to move and dance around with them. Pretty exciting time for her! ❤

I don't understand why you kept the coat but maybe you'll be able to let it go the next time you go through that bin. Then again, I just recently decluttered my childhood Easter basket that I've had stored away for decades. Sometimes, you just have to wait until it finally makes sense to declutter something. I wonder if it would fit on your sweet doggo!

This is true. Also, hoping to find the photo of me wearing it as a kid. That way I still have it in photo form then can let it go

When I get things signed by celebrities it gives me a perfect excuse to keep them.
