there's a reason why you don't invest in women, lets not be politically correct here. All women are the same - imagine having to work with your nagging wife. They don't nag you right, but secretly in their head. They have a low tolerance point making then not ideal team members. You can't work with someone like that, you wouldn't be able to get things done well! You be stepping on eggshells every day and worse is they will never think they did anything wrong and try to reflect whatever they did!😂

That’s a great lecture. I Recommend you all to read Blue Ocean Strategy, basically looking into the current market and competition is not that important if your proposition is so different that it has no real competition. For example Apple with the iPhone has created a blue ocean.

There's an error on the slide shown at 24:00. The probability for the "niche only" scenario should be 30%, not 10%. Why? First, all of the % numbers in that column do not add up to 100% (2+3+5+10+50+10 = 80%, not 100%). Second, if you multiple the % numbers in that part of the decision tree, you get 0.9 * 0.45 * 0.74 = 0.3. Finally, in the table to the right, 2.4 / 8 = 0.3

Indeed, but having a pre position always helps. There would be chances where our experience taken prediction May work or not But if i would be in this place i would be happy to invest if the deck was within my experience and having some metrics which calculate risk factor as an Add-on/Indicator

At 3:10, co-author of a Book on Ethics, Dr. Korver says *something's off in the Venture Capital Industry* because, in 2017, of total U.S. venture capital dollars, 2% went to female only teams, and 79% went to male-only teams. And therefore, 19% of the VC money went to Mixed-Sex teams. So what? It seems highly likely that VC-men outnumber VC-women by roughly 99-to-1, which suggests that the next series of questions starts with something like this: "If X is the minimum number of people needed in a VC firm to have enough brains and credibility to survive, and the the median size of a VC firm is S, then roughly how many Female-Only VC firms could there be?" Well, if you assume money is distributed to VC firms based on the number of people in it (assuming VC men & VC women are all recognized as equally competent and deserving of funding), then the next big question is "Under what assumptions would it be likely that only 19% of VC firms contain one female or more?" Seems to me this Expert On Ethics shouldn't be starting off his talk bemoaning the plight of women without some statistical analysis that demonstrates a clear bias against women, rather than assuming such bias is a huge problem.

He's made the flawed assumption that men and women are ”the same” and therefore all else being equal, they should perform the same. That's just wrong because men and women are different, men being risk takers and women are not for one. Given risk taking is a big part of starting, it's one reason why you see more men. Personally I believe men are naturally born to be more entrepreneurs than women, that's just the way it is.

Two ways: First, management fee (2%-3%) per year over 10 years (20%) - fund lifecycle. Second, "carry" when a startup invested in exits ( 20%). For example, VC raises a $200M fund from LPs. They will make $4M per year ( less the cost to run fund and pay internal team salaries ). They will earn 20% bonus fee of total funds gains (after paying back LPs at the return multiple agreed upon = higher yields than what public stock markets, real estate, treasury bills and other traditional investments will produce. Hope that provided some clarity. U can google the 2 and 20 rule to see example formulas and breakdowns 👍

I have a hard time believing the assigned probabilities and without them the whole system falls apart. A range of probabilities would be more believable and their are methods for developing these.

The comparison at 50 minutes doesn't make sense. A big fund that uses strategy of "double down on winners" will also preferably start at 10% + (Conventional wisdom) and try to maintain that, in which case, they will run ahead. 3.3% in your example represents typical Angel equity. Shoving the entire $1k at start in your example also increases the risk of entirely losing that. I'm not saying approach A is better than B. Just that the above comparison isn't Apples to Apples.
