Decide element type: 3D, 2D, plane strain or stress, axisymmetric, shell, membrane, beam

This video can help you to systematically decide on the space of your modeling and elements type. This video maybe causes a significant reduction in your time which is spent on running your simulations.
In this video you can find out:
What are structural elements?
What are solid elements?
Structural elements versus solid elements?
When to use shell elements?
When to use membrane elements?
When to use truss elements?
When to use beam elements?
When to use plane stress elements?
When to use plane strain elements?
When to use axisymmetric elements?
When to use 3D elements?

Hello, thanks for the video. What type of element would be recommended to use for a tensile test of a wire with a diameter of 5mm and a length of 220mm? Would it be appropriate to use a beam element? Would you recommend any specific one?
