Decathlon Tamahoo Freeride 500 gusty 2-3bft gliding

Спорт

Another Tamahoo Freeride 500 under 8.5 sqm test session in gusty conditions 2-3bft and gusts 4bft. Was able to glide/plane for a few seconds in some gusts.
The centreboard was not installed. Instead Drake Shallow Fin 41cm to be able to go upwind.
Need to wait for better wind conditions. Video will follow.

Nice!! I'm very interested in how it performs. What do you think about the mastfoot base? It looks solid to you? do you think that this table can reach and go over the 25 kts declared, tell us just your feelings? Thanks for the video 🙂

Very interesting 🙂 I had an STX 280 last year and sold it. It was very handy in transport and versatile and in usage for familiy/beginners and more winds, but it has only this wobbling instable double SUP fin system and the lack of option to mount big sails like 8qm and plus. What kind of fin system is it in detail? It looks like a Tuttle system. Could Deep Tuttle be mounted? How does the mast position fits you with different sails sizes? THX

The finbox seems to be solid and sticks very firm through the board. The fins required are Tuttle box fins, I dont think that Deep Tuttle would fit, however I havent tried as I dont have DT fins. So far I only use the 8.5 sail. The mastfoot could be in the right position, however this is probably the limit. My 9.6sqm sail would probably not be ok. I wonder when the first manufacurer will come up with a mastfoot track system for the inflatables.

Hi Andy, on the board it says 230 Liters (kzread.info/dash/bejne/nohnu7mNc9C5m84.html). But it behaves rather like 160-180 Liters. Most probaby because its 15cm thick and has otherwise the dimension of a 160Liter board (260x80). The session was on and off all the time and every 10 seconds. Didnt enjoy it too much. Could not get into the straps and even could not use the harness. But thats not the boards fault, we just dont have good winds here in the area. When I had packed everything and was ready to leave the place the wind picked up and got better, typical, isnt it? I will have to do more tests with the board in better wind conditions to see if it is a good replacement for my Fanatic Viper 75 or my wife´s Starboard Rio. I really would like to see how it behaves when planing and gybing.

@@badenwindsurf7110 sounds good, inflatable seems like the way forward. I saw you managed to incorporate your homemade footstraps- does it have places to screw them in or just a case of sticking them on somehow? Either way I like the old school configuration of 2 sets of forward reaching straps, looks nice and should let you experiment nicely once the wind increases.

  • @badenwindsurf7110

@@andysworldofoldschoolwindsurf there are no footstraps inserts for screws in the board. Instead there are kind of flat metal loops attached to the deck. I was able to put my footstraps through them and staple them as a provionary method of attachment. Have a look at my other video of the board (kzread.info/dash/bejne/nohnu7mNc9C5m84.html), where I have shown this in more detail. Yes, I filled almost every position available, I will add two more footstraps to the empty beginners back strap positions. The beauty of the straps is that one can step on them and they instantly revert to their upright position.
