Decapitating My Ficus Audrey | Part 1 + Terracotta Saucers Update

If you liked this video, make sure to watch • Decapitating My Ficus ...
What happens when your grow lights work a little too well and your Ficus Audrey starts to shade itself out? We give it a little trim. It might be normal for Ficus Audrey to get thicker at the top and thin out towards the bottom, but I'm still learning. Either way, I'm anticipating this little experiment to result in some new branches and hopefully some additional propagations from the leaves. This is an experiment and we will learn together!

When I used sealer on my saucers, I coated only the outside. Not sure if that would make a difference.

I believe this is a ficus Altissima and not an Audrey. Audrey has a whiter stem and the leaves have a slight/fuzzy feel.

Yup, I concur, it's an Altissima (lucky you!). The green on green variegation are typical of the Altissima, the Audrey's leaves are a solid green (as well as being slightly fuzzy like henrykmin mentions) .
