    I've watched Judge Jeanine on Fox News and with her current show but I never realized what an incredible judge she really is until I started watching these old KZread videos. She was superb! A fair-minded judge with real intelligence and a sense of True Justice. The way she handles people on both sides of an issue is the absolute best of any of these type of shows I've seen. Makes me proud to be a Gemini like her.

    I know a woman who got a job with a bill collecting agency. She quit after 3 days because of what they wanted her to do, much of it was dishonest. If you owe money you can renegotiate the terms. If your circumstances have changed the bank would prefer to get something rather than nothing. They will work with you to get the debt paid. Bill collectors don't have the authority to renegotiate.

    I had bill collectors coming after me for a supposed phone bill from 1995 with a phone company I have never had an account with. I finally had to tell them I'd sue them for harassment if they didn't stop calling or show me a signed piece of paper for my agreement to have some account after yelling at them for over 3 months that it was not my damn bill. Oh, and if you haven't received something in paper from them before they start hassling you, you can tell them they are violating federal guidelines and will report them if they continue. They never even sent me anything before they started calling me, badgering me about this stupid bill from over 20 years ago.

    I worked in a collection agency as a skip tracer and there were some people who just fell on hard times they would come in and pay their debts as agreed to but the collectors would call them and tell them they needed to pay more. Collectors are under great deal of stress to get debtors to pay more than what was agreed to as they have to hit a target each month and it is a very stressful job. I do not miss the atmosphere of that office at all.

    Ask for payment plans! Say you are in financial hardship! They can usually bargain with you, get you to pay small amounts over time, freeze interest, or reduce the debt owed. You don't know unless you ask.

    There are such laws to prevent the harassment from debt collectors. I actually had a debt collector call me regarding my mother's debt. Under the law they are not supposed to call me about it. Before you tell me that my mother should had pay her bills, she was hard working at her job until she was discrimination by her employer and other co-workers (this was on a military base as well where she work as a civilian worker with other civilian workers) and fell behind on her bills from the termination. Now she is working on rebuilding her debt and has a career she is proud of. Point is the laws are in place to prevent situations like these.

  • @jrjames99
    @jrjames994 жыл бұрын

    Really and truly, as far as debt collectors go, at the end of the day, you owe them nothing. As long as the company who turned you over to collections will still accept a payment from you, this who you should pay.

    People are harassed by debt collectors when they don't owe a dime. I've seen it first hand. A lot of them are actually in the business of trying to convince you that you never paid a bill. At that point you have to request official documents before they go , ' oooo okay you did pay this sorry' and abruptly hang up. Fucking classic.

    Surely Judge P knows there are federal laws about abusive collecting. She gives a great summary of the statute. The problem is that the fine is $1000 an incident, which meant something back when the statute was first enacted but that was years ago and the fine has never been increased, not even for inflation.

    In my previous marriage, my person created many debts, that we could not pay. I suffered the consequences, because I worked the late shift. The bill collectors figured that out, and would start calling, when my other person was at work, and I was home in bed, during the morning, and early afternoon hours. They especially liked calling in the morning. I had one caller, one day, who realized she had awaken me. She immediately apologized for doing so. I told her she couldn't possibly work for "that company", since that was their M.O., to torment me, because of my significant other. She told me she didn't think she could work for them much longer, because she couldn't be unkind to people, regardless of the circumstances, and she believed they were going to fire her. Nice lady. She probably was fired. Anyway, I am not in that marriage any longer, and I don't create bills I can't pay. And I don't miss those phone calls. But now, instead, I get multiple "Toll Free Calls", from countless scam artists! So I turn my phone off, when I go to bed, and pray an emergency doesn't arise, where someone needs me, while I am sleeping.

    Words of caution: FTC doesn't handle debt collector complaints anymore, it's the CFPB. It's also fruitless and does you no good 99% of the time unless 100,000 other people are doing it too against the same collector - then they might notice and take action. Also, if it's a decently sized debt they are after and you force them to stop calling you to try and work it out, they are likely going to file a lawsuit against you if it's a legitimate debt. Research the FDCPA to understand consumer rights in debt collection. They are very powerful, and debt collectors will often go away if they know the person knows their rights since it becomes an uphill battle for them.

    Once a company or corporation you owe money to sells that debt and contract to a third party collection agency. They sell your debt and contract for pennies on the dollar. Once that is sold to the collection agency. Your liability towards that debt becomes void. The collection agency is now responsible for collecting their debt they bought from the company you owed money to. This is why they call, there is harrasement, threaten of legal action. But in reality they cannot do anything to you BC you are not bound by the legal contract you signed with the original company. Unless the contract clearly states that default of debt will be sold to third party to collect which transfers liability of debt. I went through a situation like this. They send me barrister letters threatening to sue. I did a quick Google search of the barrister, and it turns out that the address and phone number associated with the barrister they were sending after me has lots and lots of reports of fraud. At that point my mind was made up, there is not way I'm paying the 3000k back. I would have paid it back in full if the original company just waited till I could generate the money, but didn't and pulled what they pulled with my debt. My credit was hurt for six month, I built it back up, even with this stuff going on. And now if I ever run into any problems like this again, I have a bit of a better idea on how to handle these people. Fucking criminal scam artists.

    Even if you are extremely rude to a person, it doesn't justify what some of these debit collectors do. I've seen them threatening peoples lives, threatening to tell everybody in their area about it and so forth. So yes, it doesn't justify it even if you are rude. I wish people had the ability to pay, but unfortunately it's a difficult time and not everybody is earning enough to support themselves and support their families.

Like ok hold your horses people got work I will get to you when I can. If I'm late sure come take your stuff back but damn chill dude. These days they come to your doorstep for payments whether you're there or not. If RAC catches someone home they will bug you till someone pays up. That's precisely why I don't mess with them anymore because debt collectors are just getting more intense by the day.
