A couple of hours before their headlining set at Dark Malta Festival (their first show of 2023!) we sat down with Deathstars vocalist Whiplasher Bernadotte and asked him about the inspiration behind the new album Everything Destroys You, coming out this May, as well as changes in their lives over the past few years.

Even though it's been 9 years and I discovered them in high school 2006, they have maintained a spot in my frequent listens.

I descovered them when Night Electric Night came out 🖤 Death Dies Hard immediately got my attention for this intriguing Amazing Band, each individual brought something with my attention, they are incredible, so glad for this new album as well It's Awesome!!!!! 🖤🔥 Since 2009 when my ears heard them for the first time it was definitely like taking my first hit , it's the only way I could describe it, incredible and mind-blowing. And yes I'm clean and sober since 2014 😊 Would love for them to do a US tour 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

A girl named Enya from Croatia introduced me to Deathstars in like 06 or 07 and they have been one of my favorites ever since, so happy to see a new album!

I discovered death stars when they released their song cyanide. It’s been a journey for them as it has with us as well. I recently saw their newer stuff and I thought to myself ‘my how they’ve grown’ and I hoped they were doing well. It’s good to hear they’re still out there creating. I wish him luck on his journey.
