DEATH VALLEY UNDERGROUND

Rumors, legends and tales persist about ancient mummies, treasures of gold and hidden civilizations beneath the mountains of Death Valley. Native Americans and adventurers alike have claimed they've seen the place. Is it real? Does an ancient civilization with hidden gold and mummies loom beneath the hottest place in the world? We went on a quest to find out. In this clip we literally go underground in Death Valley with cave expert Dave Ek. Most people don't think of caves in the desert but this one, secret and closed to the public is one of the gems. Discovered accidentally while miners were working on a gold mine in a canyon it was one of the best decorated and beautiful caves to be found anywhere. This is the story of the search for hidden places in the desert. It's the quest to discover whether an ancient civilization could exist and if it is ancient or alien in nature. This is Weird Tales 2, Into Death Valley's Underground.

wow - awesome exploration. I must say you are far braver than I... there's no way I would have slid through that narrow opening - no way whatsoever!

Americans are known for being large so the narrow tunnel explains why only 5 people have been down there

I think it was kind of ironic his talking about how challenging it was decending into the cave, if he thinks that hard wait until he has to ascend.

Word just below the surface is a 200 ft layer of salt it separates the minerals and collect them up as crystals . This is due to the ocean which used to evaporate there. Just imagine the minerals that are within this salt bed the death valley is huge .

Thank you for the video. I have been to Death Valley numerous times, but I have never heard of the “underground”. Makes me wonder if I wasn’t paying attention. I will be looking into info on this. I hope to see more of your video’s. I can’t wait to visit DV again.

You have to be a freaking nut to risk digging around under there! It looks way too dangerous for my taste.

I confess it was really scary. I found out later that a NatGeo producer went down in it with the ranger we were with and the producer wouldn't go through and cut his shoot short and went back out. I felt kinda good about doing it after hearing that!

Glad it’s protected by it’s inaccessible location. It would not survive human interaction. Thanks for the video! BTW you certainly got your aerobic points in that day.
