Death Valley To Lake Tahoe

Join me on this narrated drive through Death Valley up the Eastern Sierra Nevada corridor, US 395, and ending in South Lake Tahoe. Driving through Death Valley in the winter months is one of my favorite ways to go up to Lake Tahoe from Southern Nevada. As you'll see, the drive is sparsely populated with cars, making for a pleasant driving experience.
As of uploading, this drive is somewhat timely, since all roads in Death Valley are closed due to unprecedented flooding in the park. So if you're interested in seeing what the drive looks like, KZread videos are all you got right now. :D

Wow, absolutely spectacular video. I really love that you narrated the historical and geographic points of interest along the way! Well done! Most of the spots on this trip are places I’ve never been but want to go, such as Trona Pinnacles, the Alabama Hills, and Death Valley itself. There is a certain unmatched mystery and majesty of driving through the desert. Thank you for this great video. Loved the music as well!

Hi there and thanks for the video. We are planning a trip from 8. April. We do not know if we can go to yosemite oder sequioa national park, because of their weather condtions. So our second plan is, we are coming from SanFran. To go by by Highway 90 to Tahoe City and on the next day to the ranch in death valley. What do you think? Do you think it is possible to do that? it is our first roadtrip, so we feel a little bit unsure. thanks

Greetings, is the Nevada 207 a very steep road? I’m terrified of driving on very steep edges

Great video - and commentary - appreciated that you said what was "off road" but didn't go off road. I am driving to Las Vegas from Tahoe next week on August 16 and would love to drive 190 through to Pahrump... but heard you say you didn't drive DV in the summer but took 168. I heard 168 was just as desolate if not more desolate than 190. Is there a reason you don't like to drive through DV in summer? my drives down I-5 have hit 115 degrees and things seem to be ok... is Death Valley different for driving through in heat? Thanks so much!

Hi there thanks for watching! My main reason for not taking Death Valley in the summer is mainly because of the heat. Not necessarily because I’m concerned for my car, I just prefer the other routes in summer for the lower temps. Also the other routes tend to close in the colder months because of snow, so I take the summer as my opportunity to drive them - those routes being 168 over Westgard Pass and 120 through Benton and Mono Lake.
