Any person with such knowledge of music should know better than to be so narrow minded. I had a fundamentalist Baptist preacher here in the south when I was younger who was a guitar player. I showed him some death metal, and though he didn't seem to approve of the aggression or the lyrical content, he was extremely interested in the technicality and composition. Dude was just a true lover of music, and gave credit where it was due.

@@yallgottaunderstand My guitar teacher in high school was super supportive of death metal. At the time he was working with marco minnemann of necrophagist! You cant call yourself a music teacher if you put down certain genres of music and favor others.

Seriously man? Fuck that guy, everything can be art if you put enough work and passion in it. And this album sure as hell is fucking art.

Death is my favorite metal band and this cover demonstrates how beautiful and intricated Chuck's music is. And you girl are the best!!!!

6 years and countless "play again"s later that "Bite the Pain" solo still gives me goosebumps. Thanks VK.

Well played!! Death on the piano sounds so good!!

It sounds like Schoenberg or Shostakovich. I think with these transcriptions for piano, you've really helped create a new (and wonderful) genre of music. Given your obvious ability, I think you'd make a good composer in your own right.

This just shows how closely metal is related to classical music. This could be a piece from a couple hundred years ago.

I mean... this applies to almost every piece of music depending on the arrangement. THIS kind of metal probably sounds closer to, let's say, a baroque piece, simply because it's more complex than other metal pieces.

Chris Brown metal is more based on blues than classical. But yeah, I would say it's a mixture of pentatonic blues and baroque and early romantic.

That's a bit of a stretch. Classical is infinitely superior in complexity and composition. Metal is pretty simple, especially when you play it on a Piano and can see how primitive the arrangements are. I say this as a fan of death metal, no offense intended.

I don't really think it sounds that much like classical, except it's being played on piano

The fact that those sounds are actually recognizable and work on piano shows their great harmonic quality. And - of course "VK's" great arragement skills, lest to forget.

You always leave me in awe, incredible playing, I enjoy this so much

Álvaro Bass 2nd track is Bite the Pain. Took a few listens but that solo is too intense to NOT recognize it.
