I was front row at the L.A show. I can see myself in that DVD footage. It’s like a time capsule. Chuck hands me his pick as the lights go down. Met him the next day at a record store appearance in Ventura. I had him sign the pick and got to spend about 20 minutes chatting with him. Awesomely sweet guy. Went and saw Death perform again that night in Ventura. That was my third Death show. It really is a shame that he didn’t live to see how big his influence had become. Lastly the drummer that was on the Studio version is Gene Hoglan. The drummer live is Richard Christy. Both are very talented.

I fell in love with this band while I was in high school. My “senior quote” was from this song. “Savor what you feel and what you see: things that may not seem important now, but may be tomorrow” Timelessly profound IMO

(Symbolic) I don't mean to dwell But I can't help myself When I feel the vibe And taste a memory Of a time in life When years seemed to stand still I close my eyes And sink within myself Relive the gift of precious memories In need of a fix called innocence When did it begin? The change to come was undetectable The open wounds expose the importance of Our innocence A high that can never be bought or sold Symbolic acts, so vivid Yet at the same time Were invisible Savor what you feel and what you see Things that may not seem important now But may be tomorrow Do you remember when Things seemed so eternal? Heroes were so real... Their magic frozen in time The only way to learn Is be aware and hold on tight I close my eyes And sink within myself Relive the gift of precious memories In need of a fix called innocence When did it begin? The change to come was undetectable The open wounds expose the importance of Our innocence A high that can never be bought or sold Symbolic acts, so vivid Yet at the same time Were invisible

@@neonskepetunije I have given this some thought and I guess if I were to give you a suggestion here, it would have to be the song I started with. Back in the early 90's, there was a radio station from DC called 103.1 The Underground. On Sunday nights from 9 PM to 10 PM they had mandatory metal which were really heavy songs not normally played on the radio. One night, I decided to listen instead of TV and the first song I heard was a Morbid Angel song, "Gog of Emptiness". At the time I had not heard anything like it. I went out the next weekend to the mall and bought "Covenant", their most recent and third album at the time on cassette. And that is how I started getting into the heavier stuff. From hair metal of the 80's to then Pantera, Danzig and then Morbid Angel. Anyway, sorry for the novel. Take a listen one day. Subject matter is a bit darker than the stuff you have been listening to. Enjoy.

I agree with you in that when I first started listening to metal, I preferred the deeper, gutteral vocal style over a more screaming style. But, over time, I learned to like them just as much. To me, vocal style doesn't discourage me as much anymore unless it does not fit the music. But, in the end it is all up to what you prefer. You like what you like and that is it, but be open to new things when others share. Nothing more awesome about the metal community than wanting to share the band you "discovered" with others and having them share their "discoveries" with you.
