No, Ferdinand is Charles's brother, who we saw crying after Charles's death. The man with black hair and beard. The crying little boy is Charles's illegitimate son. They just got to know each other short before his death. They formed a bond but the boy doesn't know Charles is his father, he will learn it later, after Charles's death.

Ferdinand was to become Emperor after his brothers abdication. He himself would die in 1564. I'd like to think that the young couple is Charles V. daughter and her Husband, Ferdinands son, future emperor Maximilian II.

A truly sad ending to such a beautiful series about one of the most powerful men in history. It's even more moving how they showed the individual reactions of Carlos's loved ones. Although, I can't help, but wish that they showed Carlos reunited with Isabel, like how they did with Isabel and Fernando in "La Corona Partida". Nevertheless, still a very touching ending. Lili, thank you so much for taking all that time and effort to upload all these clips with English subtitles. You did a fantastic job and I'm very grateful for all your hard work. Muchos gracias!

DarkDancer06 Thank you very much, and you are very welcome:) Well a reunion would have been nice, too, and I would give more credit to the Carlos&Isabel reunion in heaven than to the Fernando&Isabel reunion, I mean considering history and real life. Also if I were Isabel of Castile and saw from heaven what Fernando did I'm not sure if I ever wanted to be reunited with that man, if he goes to heaven, which is also not so sure.

I think Juan typically had a life that has a lot of "movie elements". From his complicated childhood as an illegitimate royal offspring, through his military career, his liasons, his friendships with his nephews Don Carlos and Alessandro Farnese, to the battle of Lepanto as the movie climax, I could really imagine an exciting movie about him. Or a tv series with 6-8 episodes. Of course, the same would also be awesome about Philip II, Philip V, and several other historical figures.

I remember that I saw the "How the episode was made" video after this series finale, in which the creators and the actors explain this thing too, but I'm not sure I remember correctly. I think Philip II is sad as well as angry a bit, he is angry at Charles because he didn't tell Philip he was dying and Philip couldn't get to see him one last time, and he is also angry with him because Charles kept it in secret that he had a child, a brother of Philip, who he now recognizes as his son.

Not really. Most Historians agree that the main issue was the huge differences between the various Kingdoms, taxation pressed on the peasantry particularly in Castile and of course mis-managment of the Colonies in many ways. Also it is a bit unfair considering Spain really bounced back under the Bourbons, though they made errors themselves.

@@ayushgupta4376 the eagle emblem was already used and adopted by the Habsburgs as rulers of the Holy Roman Empire. Byzantine used it first to symbolize the power of the Eastern and Western Roman Empire then when the Habsburgs came along they also used it to symbolize the difference between the royal (königliche) and the imperial (kaiserliche) status.

@@harveyblackwood3563 I'm talking about the emblem of Habsburgs as kings of Spain, not HREs. A simple internet search reveals that the Habsburg kings of Spain from Philip 2nd onwards used the emblem which was earlier used by the Trastamara dynasty of Philips great grandparents, a single eagle.
