Alex Honnold and Cedar Wright scare themselves BIG TIME when an error in navigation means they climb the wrong peak - and when they head in the right direction they are led onto a chossy knife-edge ridge that tests their mental and physical strength, almost to breaking point.
Trying to climb the Middle Palisade was never going to be easy, but they never expected this.
The morning after traversing the Palisade Crest, and bagging five 14,000 foot peaks in the process, they head to Middle Palisade which they expect to be a more mellow day in the mountains. But this is the Sufferfest and nothing goes as expected.
They have no map and no idea what Middle Palisade looks like. In a tragic error, they climb the wrong peak and then are forced to complete a dangerous, decomposing and exposed ridge traverse to Middle Palisade. Sufferfest Indeed.

What REALLY sucks is that Clif Bars had to drop their sponsorships for climbers who Free Solo! It's an extremely short-sighted move, on their part, and I believe Sufferfest was one of, if not the, last sponsored trips they'd helped fund for the sport. Mostly because a handful of their best clients had become FAR more high-profile in the subsequent years, especially Alex Honnold, Hazel Findlay, Tommy Caldwell, and Cedar Wright, and even Jimmy Chin, all of whom Free Solo at certain times during an expedition just in the normal course of their climbing activities already. Either way, sponsors like North Face and Black Diamond have definitely taken up their slack lol for every manufacturer who runs away scared there's always going to be two or three more ready and willing to take its place. 🤣

Climbed the wrong mountain? I guess they weren’t properly prepared as they forgot to pack a rope. I do hope these short free solo videos don’t inspire inexperienced people to try and climb a mountain without a rope.

They chose not to bring a rope, you stupid fuck. And people do occasionally make mistakes navigating and route finding.
