@@lordsathariel4384 Not confidence, zealotry. They didn't name themselves the "Death Korps" that name was given by the regiments they fought alongside. They are a bunch of vat grown clone soldiers flash indoctrinated with utter devotion to the Emperor and the knowledge that their homeworld has sinned and only by dying for the Emperor can they begin to atone for it. Commisars are assigned to the Death Korps not to maintain discipline but to prevent them from wasting their lives in pointless futile attacks that even the Astra Militarum considers needlessly wasteful of soldiers.

​@@RigepFroggitifts more than that. A soldier off Krieg doesn't throw his life away without reason. In this case, there was a reason. The world eater was about to overwhelm space marine - a demi-god - to the people of the imperium. They knew they had to swarm the world eater, because in their mind, they would have to help in any way possible. If there would not have been a space marine fighting the world eater, they would have waited for a heavy weapons team or weapon specialist with a lasgun, heavy bolternor plasma rifle. It's ok to sacrifice yourself so one of his angles might live but it would be stupid to die if "wolfgang" could just blast him with his plasma rifle.

There is a recorded piece of history in which krieg refused to do advance and actually began retreating and killing commissars. Vraks.

Hard to believe all these WW1/Interwar inspired dieselpunk aesthetics from the Krieg are existent in the same setting with mostly sci-fi and even a couple few fantasy elements aswell with cyborgs, space elves, genetically and biologically enhanced supersoldiers in futuristic power armor, spaceships and even demons with soul manipulating properties. Man, 40K is thematically wild. Reason why I *love* Science Fantasy over conventional Fantasy or conventional Sci-Fi so much.

Hey you even got Guard Regiments that are heavily inspired by napoleonic era soldiers as well. Using Las-locks and everything :) It does take a while to reload.

personally, I think that is why 40K goes so hard. Sure its Sci-Fi in a lot of ways, but in the end, its a Fantasy setting that says its "Sci-Fi"- but even thats a lie because its literally the game where the only true rule, is the RULE OF COOL. WW1 DUDES RIDING HORSES!? COOL! SPACE ELVES?! not cool... BUT COOL IS STILL PART OF NOT COOL! SO ITS COOL! ROIDED UP SPACE MARINES!? COOL!! SKELETON ROBOT SPACE EGYPTIANS??!!!??!??!?!?! LORD I AM COMING!

You'll note that those Death Riders' hunting lances weren't mounted with just any old explosive charge, but the heads of six stielhandgrenaten - a gebalteladüng, a WWI antivehicle cluster-grenade. Pity the fool that has to bodycheck a gebalteladüng.

Every time I think I'm finished or angry at WH40k, fan animations like this bring back and remind me what I actually loved abut the settting. In this case, it reminds me, I still have a Killteam of gasmask bois to finish.

3:05 i cant tell whats more badass about this scene in particular. the fact that the legionary is cutting down the kriegsmen effortlessly, one after another, or the kriegsmen relentlessly throwing themselves at him, until they get the killing blow. on second thought...

I like to think that a Korpsman does not care to FOLLOW an Astartes into battle. If the Astartes stops or slows, they will push past him to get to the objective. Nothing will get between them and their glorious death for the Emperor.

they are pretty much like that, many times Astartes rely heavily in commisars or officers of the kriegsmen, mostly because without them, they'll simply charge or obliterate their own forces to make a breach not even hundreds of thousands of them dying are considered among them a grace to the Emperor, rather all that pile is a hope for a pinch of it alone

Bruh what, this is underrated as hell you deserve a lot more

The kreigsman is disciplined, dedicated and single-minded. They don't embrace death, but they do accept it without rancour. This combination of discipline, dedication and fearlessness makes them as formidable as a human can be without advanced sci-fi gear.

This is a superb edit... The cuts to match the music to the soldier's marching, the artillery gun cranking, and the main theme kicking off as the tank slammed down across the trench. Nicely done.

When a newbie friend asks me about 40k lore: "I present to you, the Death Korps of Krieg..."

It's ok brother gasmask grunts are had for others to understand. That's why they watch our shovels too see what we're doing. For example if we have our shovels raised something going to die

Man I love playing with Kriegers in Darktide. It's one thing to the skin, but the ones that really impress me are using the rifle and shovel too.

Behold, the Emperor's most favored sons and daughters. Pure and uncomplicated in their purpose! (My personal head-canon is that since the Death Korps basically use cloning that they're all the imperfect clones of that one hero guy whose name escapes me and that means you get male and female out of it, but since their DKoK their whole purpose is to die in glorious spade-on-chaos-titan combat.)

Oh, I can rain on your parade. The beginning words are actually “Ready you Weapons” as spoken in German. The funniest thing is that this song best vibes with the soviets. So why is the only words spoken for a Soviet war machine marching song German? Frank and gang thought it best vibes with the song as a whole.
