I feel that the kriegers are one of the few things that have the respect of the space marines, for their unwavering loyalty and fanatic dedication

Before my time in the Vostroyan Firstborn I was attracted to the Death korps of Krieg I saw one of crazy bastard hold a building by themselves after the Tau wiped out his whole squad. Wouldn't retreat even after I ordered him to. (A dramatic retelling of a game I had in 8th ed with my DKoK army against Tau, where one Krieg Guardsman held a objective by him self for a two turns)

I have a Krieg armored column with a couple grennie squads backed up by tauroxes, hell hounds and Russ Lemans with plenty of leadership. They are the only IG that you can grind down to the last man. Even when they lose, they leave a huge smoking crater in the space the enemy army used to occupy. Cult of Sacrifice combined with good leadership, Krieg can hurt an opponent.

@@stalinsoulz7872 Hell yeah. I drive full blast right into short weapons range, dump the grennies out of their carriers Panzergrenadier style and "Move! Move! Move!" right into the enemy. Then launch a devastating grenade Salvo at the enemy and charge! The hell hounds grind just behind the gun line and immolate ANYTHING in their path while the Russ Lemans cover the hell hounds. A Lord Commissar and a command tank ensures they almost never break and if they do, one execution from the Commissar is all it takes to stop that nonsense on the spot. I go until the enemy is crushed or the column is wiped out.

Pragmatism? Is that what you call it? Nothing to do with pragmatism, pragmatism is keeping your soldiers alive as much as possible because, despite what WH40K states, dead soldiers win no wars, they are simply dead. Pragmatism is rather like the US approach in WWII, spend things over lives. SPend lives if we must, but things are far easier to replace than properly trained soldiers, especially the Specialists. I despise the Kreigs, because they are based on the ultimate fallacy, WG, having no real knowledge of WWI tactical changes based the Kreigsmen on their 'idea' of WWI... and its largely bullshit.... Wave attacks were, despite the common perspective, very rarely used after the first 3 or 4 months for example. Modern Combined Arms Warfare was born in the mud and the Blood of the Western Front. An infantry platoon went from rifle only in 1914, to a combined arms team including a gun team, bomb team (grenadiers), mortar/rifle grenadier team, rifle team, and finally a small HQ team... feel free to replace team with Squad/Section depending on your nationality.... Give me the Cadians any day.... or even the Catalans.... But the LAST thing the Kreigs are about is PRAGMATISM, they are about spending blood for ground, little else. That is not pragmatic....

@@alganhar1 You're going into purely meme territory. Kreigsman ARE pragmatists. They arent described by GW as memes, they're described as pragmatic. The Death Korp is willing to die when necessary, but not for no reason. They dont throw themselves on the enemies sword, but are willing to do so ONLY if it serves a purpose. It's a common misconception that they WANT to die. No, Kriegsman want to KILL and are willing to die to accomplish that task. A great example would be the bunker assaults on Vraks. The Death Korp protested violently when they were pulled back from the vicious underground fighting..... they were furious because the leadership threw away their lives then retreated.. making their deaths worthless. They argued that they could have taken the bunker complex and that would justify the mass deaths, if only the commanders had the stones to follow through and let then do their work. The Death Korp is not suicidial they are murderous.

I feel little but sadness and respect for the men of Kreig, they fought their way to victory on an irradiated and dead world. Their ancestors sacrificed everything for their victory and killing the traitors. They serve as the most faithful of guardsmen and as the most fearless. All I hope for them is that should the Emporer stand once more, that he forgive them for the sins of their ancestors.

In Baldermort's community video about the death korp, he touched on this in then end saying that it would relieve and crush their morale. Due to over 500 years of being told not matter how much you sacrifice you can never be forgiven for what the autarchs did.

I felt that way too until I read Dead Men Walking. That book really explores the DKoK in depth and the problems that their cult of sacrifice brings to planets they are dropped on to defend.

Reason why fans are disappointment when GW did not have a Kriegsman mini not holding a shovel. Sure it is a meme within the Fandom but damn it fans buy into this universe. Should own it and make the meme models. Know for a fact people will fucking buy them. @@Qardo so long as you are only using them for your own enjoyment and not selling them, 3d printed models are 100% legal and there isn't much GW can do besides pound sand. A guy at my local game shop 3d printed a Warlord Titan for his army. Not a damn thing GW can do. So if you want a Krieg guardsman with a shovel, make yourself one.

I think in a time line where the Horus Heresy never happened, Krieg may have become a recruiting world for Mortarion’s Death Guard.

Death Korps probably the only regiment that have balls big enough to melee combat the necrons that includes The Flayed Ones and actually managed to push back the necrons almost destroying their stronghold. Truly one of the 40k thing i have ever read

Hush... If the Inner Circle of the Dark Angels hear you, they'll recruit every Krieg soldier that reaches the age of 35, and Gene-Seed those that reach 40yo from there. "Fanatics with redemption boners" are hand-in-glove for the needs of those in the Inner Circle. Their biggest problem would be that they wouldn't have enough Terminator Armor to supply the demand.

@@Birb_of_Judge actually 'A twist of the wrist II' which is the road one. 'A Twist of the wrist' is aimed more at racers. I've got the racers one and watched the video made of the second one. Well worth watching. Good to hear you've got some experience under your belt.

Great job. I liked that you stressed that the Krieg aren't the Astartes. While the Krieg memes are funny, I do think it's gotten a bit out of hand and some people are starting to take them seriously. Btw I'd be careful about that coffee. Even saints have a limit.

These memes are more of a pushback against overblown Astarte memes. A Korn berserker can't survive against unlimited number of demolition charges. Against unending waves of krieg suicide bombers and only melee weapons on hand, Korn berserkers can choose to run or they can choose to die. It's just a numbers game. If you have the numbers and willing to expend them, and kriegs always have the second covered, usually the first too considering production capacity, then astartes die like everyone else. Quantity has a quality of its own.

I 40k, one sound is enough to scare kids straight when offered Chaos's blessings... The mechanical breathing of a Death Corps Guardsman... Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Thrown! Farts for the Inquisition! Comments for the Algorithm!

Kreig really does emphasizes everything that 40k is and should be. A world where death is a mercy, a world where the sky is nought but myth and life is unceasingly brutal. Compared to the world of Kreig, Catachan is an exotic safari. And very few places can really compare to how terrible it truly is to live on. The fact that people can still live on that world is a testament to the unending and perhaps even foolish undaunted spirit of mankind. But most the death Corps of Kreig emphasizes the sheer massive scale of death that there is.

I always believed that if the Death Guard remained loyal and were deployed along side the Death Korp they’d be a truly unstoppable force. It would be impossible for any opponent to break their lines

Ive always associated the entire culture of krieg with that of the slayer cult from WH Fantasy except with humans instead of dwarves and on a much more massive scale. Slayers abandon there old lives entirely in search of death in order to atone for a perceived shame. Not just any death will do. Only a glorious one will make up for their sins and with kriegers its no difference.

It legit brought a tear to my eye when I listened to the speech at the beginning with the musical accompaniment. Amazing work as always Lord Baldermort!

I'm a newcomer to WarHammer, (I blame a frriend, : P lol). After he got me started he told me to look up the Death Korp of Krieg, this was the first vid I found. Sir, you instantly made them my favorites. The lore, the delivery and passion behind it, and that final line in the opening section gives me chills each time I hear it. "For we are the Death Korp of Krieg, our gift is death. To our enemy, and to our Lord, our gift is death."

Now this is how you start a weekend. A Baldermort vid, models to paint and a chilled brew.

I love how at the beginning the kriegers had only 1 real regiment they respected and that was the catachans.

Astartes: We are the Emperor’s avenging angels Sororitas: We are the Emperor’s holy faith Imperial Guard: We are the Emperor’s mighty hammer Krieg: We are the Emperor’s angry shovel

I was watching 'the sandman' (a warhammer 40k tactics channel on yt) he was talking about how to be competitive in 40k and talked about trading units on the battlefield. Kreg does this tactic well, sacrificing units in order to take something more valuable from the enemy

Yeah, those sites crack be up. Solidly. Because if you want to play at that level then you need to play and play and play and work out your own list. The original lists and good players make a good fist of it. People think they can take a net list and it’ll give them victory. It simply doesn’t work that way. The army is far far secondary to experience and knowledge of actually playing. Math hammer, as fun as it is, Is probably worse for competitive chances and players than just playing the game. :).

Remember when Guardsman don't want those guns because they explode? Kriegsmen carry them with pride because not only do they destroy the enemies of the Imperium, they get to sacrifice on top of it as well. So yes, happy gas mask noises indeed. Surprised those kriegers aren't pitching tents or wetting their pants just from holding those sacred weapons.

Vraks would have been back in imperial hands in less than 6 months instead of nearly two decades and that includes their deployment and setup time to planet surface. now the hive city would most likely just be dust, ash and random rebar sticking out by then, but it would be loyal once again.

No matter how fanatic you are, you can never be as fanatic as a death corps soldier.

I want this intro in my life I love the death korps of krieg. They are true saying others are weaklings. Even the astartes feel fear at rare occasions, but these regular men, given regular training, they do not. They are so filled with devotion and loyalty that they do not. All they know is that is enemy, i am a weapon. And they just throw themselves out there, to them chaos and tyranids and orks and everything else is equal, enemies to the emperor. And they cant stand it...this was the faction that brought me to warhammer, and my love for this has increased ever since

After listening your videos and listening especially the Death Korps Of Krieg your storytelling make me feel like I am in the story itself That I am the character in the story as I fought in the muddy trenches of Krieg Warfare As I fought against Xenos and heretics Demons alike with a shovel and thank you for this video and telling the Inner workings of how the Krieg was made...

Morning coffee, bacon and eggs and 40K, thank you for this wonderful video to get my day started

They are an archetype of the French and German solders that fought at Passchendaele and the Kaiserschlacht offensive. That is why I and so many others love them. Strange as that might sound to say out loud. I have two Great Great Grandfathers that fought on both sides of that pointless fratricide (*We are one people with many country's* No more brother wars!)
