Death Guard Predator Destructor review vs Brigand and PBC - GeneralJannis - WH40k 10th edition

Reviewing the Predator Destructor, looking at its weapon options, damage output and comparing it to our other typical vehicle options.
As both Plagueburst crawlers and Wardog Brigands have increased in price in the latest point updates, the Predator Destructor at only 130pts stands out as a very interesting option for Death Guard.
Let me know what you think!
And please post your questions , or a topic you would like to have GeneralJannis mathhammered in the comments - I hope I will have the time to try to take some questions and make more videos (maybe 1-2 per month )

I would argue that the lascannons on the destructor is favorable due to death guard already having strong anti infantry.

I’ve recently played against DG twice…. I think DG pred destructors are so good. Especially keeping infantry enemies in contagion range.

It's hard to look at the PBC right now with the recent points hike. I would still take it if the entropy cannons were strength 12. Traded it out for the predator annihilator and had better luck with them for anti tank.

I took an allied Knight Despoiler to a tournament last weekend. 440 points. I also took 2 Hellbrutes to give me some way to get contagion at range and the Despoiler’s battle cannons would be -2 ap. Looked good on paper. In practice it was hard to pull off. As an ally the Despoiler gets no good Strats. Cannot rotate shields. He’s pretty fragile. Guess what I could have bought for 440 points? 3 Predators! With 50 points for something else like more Cultists.

You are Reading my mind! I am just mathhammering the Despoiler, and it looks Ok damage on paper. But durability is not good for the 440 pts!

You did have the calculations, but i really don't think anyone should sleep on running them with lascannon sponsors. I did it even before point cost, and was very happy with the ceaper anti vehicle option, that also could do a number on the terminator meta. There were a lot of votann terminators and wraitguards, plus the deathguard generel lack of good anti vehicle. In the last, per point slide, when you compare to the best anti vehicle, the brigand, the destructor with lascannons is better, except 0.7 damage when the brigand is within 12'' The predator is both tankier and have more flexible range and target options.

I get by without them. But they do have their place. I run a land raider instead. If PBC had entropy cannons at 36-48” I think it would be a game changer Oof I was confused as you are talking about the destructor

death card excel at killing infantry already, so I think it makes more sense to replace Brigands with destructors with Las , because that gives you equity into heavy armor, which is often the toughest profile for them to answer. The autocannon is better than the Brigand Gatling cannon, while the lascannons deal site less damage, but have much better range than the Brigand melta. I wish you had included the points corrected version of that build because I suspect it just outperforms a Brigand at the current points cost

Thanks for the valid points. I agree that a combination of vehicles would probably suit us best alround damage. In the last table at around 10:04 the Predator Annihilator with lascannon was also included, and yes its more per point efficient at long range than the Brigand :-)

@@generaljannisbut the lascannon is soooo much worse than the autocannon with -1 save aura and 6 shots. I suspect the efficiency is off the charts

I would rather lose than use generic chaos units. Death Guard models or bust.

I use both variants. I'll ether run 2 and 2, but with no pbcs, i just dont rate them in my local scene. There are too many vehicles for pbcs to bounce off. The anhi is a good replacement. If he doesn't kill too much, it's 130ps, but when a pbc takes 2+ turns to kill some out of site marines and then dies before entropy range for 180 ps feels bad

the issue with PBC in my opinion is that a Rhino with the marines in it with Meltas on the Deck is basically free, and the PBC is not free.
