My grandma passed away last night. Her name was Margaret Devereaux. In 1956 she competed in the Miss America contest, representing the state of Michigan. Today, she is reunited with her husband John, her son and my father Johnny, and so much more family. Grandma Margo, I love you and will miss you on the rest of this walk of life ❤

My cat Chloe died about an hour and a half ago from Hemangiosarcoma. She lost about 60 percent of her body weight in just 3 weeks. I just buried her in her favorite spot resting on her favorite pair of my pants. Then I lit a novena candle for her and now I’m sitting here looking at years and years of pictures of her and listening to this beautiful, beautiful song that expresses everything I’m feeling. I miss her so much.

My dad and I always had a running joke about Death Cab. When I first introduced this song, he thought I said "Dead Cat for Judy". This was one of his favorite songs. He passed on March 4th, but I know he would dedicate this song to my mom every year. I miss him, but love that a memory still lives on for me and my mother. Happy mother's day to everyone and love those who are gone but never forgotten

To me, this song as a whole has some of the most powerful and beautifully haunting lyrics I've ever heard. It's a moment in life we all want to push away but it's inevitability is what haunts most of us. The way he writes about it makes it comforting though, I think it points out how powerful the love between two human beings can truly conquer death's horror.

This song never really meant that much to me before my divorce got finalized in May, but since then I've been listening to it quite a bit. I get that this song is a pledge of love and loyalty in the face of death, and that it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with grief or loss, but it feels good to play it whenever I start to reminisce about my marriage or my ex-wife. I guess I regret that those sentiments didn't turn out to be true for us, because as difficult as it was to be married to her I liked being a husband and father, and I liked coming home to a family every night, but now I don't have a family anymore.

I had to put my fur baby Pringus (Pringles) McDingus the shelter kitty into forever sleep on Wednesday, only two days ago. I was sent this video today in my mourning. Pringles, I will follow you into the dark any time, just to have you, to hold you, to see you smile, to pet your short, tuxedo patterned coat. Be in pain no more. Where you are is only peace. There is no death, there is only the force. Goodbye, my friend. Until we meet again. To anyone who has loved and lost, keep on loving. It’s what they would want. Open your heart again as soon as you feel you can. It’s lonely without love. Rest in peace, Pringles. 😿❤️

My brother died January 2018. I found a list on his Facebook page of bands he had seen through the years. For his funeral luncheon, I started listening to these bands he had seen and looked up their songs. Death Cab was one of the bands he had listed. When I mentioned this to my daughter, she said she had talked to my brother about this band and he said Into The Dark was their finest song in his opinion. We played this song at his funeral and it’s so fitting. I miss him so much and have come to fall in love with this band’s music. They are unlike any other. Just saw them in concert myself on 12/3/18. What a great show! Thanks DCFC for all of your beautiful music.

My gramps died a few years back, my grans went a few years later. she was always so happy but when he died she just looked tired, so very tired and afraid. She passed early this year at 81 and I this song makes me think of them, that their young again and together in a place we cant comprehend wherever that may be. A happy place, with warm sun and white clouds, shade trees and pine groves.

Love of mine, some day you will die But I'll be close behind I'll follow you into the dark No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white Just our hands clasped so tight Waiting for the hint of a spark If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the 'No's on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black I held my tongue as she told me, "Son, fear is the heart of love." So I never went back If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the 'No's on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark You and me have seen everything to see From Bangkok to Calgary And the soles of your shoes are all worn down The time for sleep is now But it's nothing to cry about 'Cause we'll hold each other soon In the blackest of rooms If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the 'No's on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark Then I'll follow you into the dark

I lost my soulmate of 6 years and fiance to cancer in August of 2022. I remember this song but didn't really immerse myself in it when it was released. A few months ago, I bought some CDs from the thrift store, including DCFC - Plans because it looked interesting. Yesterday, when driving to get a biopsy for something that looks suspicious and could be cancer, I by chance popped this CD in to listen to during the drive. When this song came on, it meant everything. (I went to Catholic school for 9 years so I could even relate to that part). I will now learn the guitar part and vocals and cover it as a tribute. Everything.

K, I miss you. I miss what we had, I miss how happy I was, I miss thinking of you without being sad, without wanting to tear my heart out to stop the pain. Things didn't end how they should have. Things didn't even end in us breaking up, which I would have loved- it would have meant that you were leaving me to be happy elsewhere, which I wouldn't have minded. As long as you were happy. That's all I want for you, and maybe, somewhere, you are happy now. I regret not being able to say goodbye. It wasn't something that I could control, but god, I wish that I could have said goodbye. Apologized for my mistakes, given you one last kiss, tell you how much I love you. You knew that I love you, I know you did, but I want to be able to tell you that again. Please come back to me. I need you. It's not fair how you died, and I want you back. I love you so much, my dear. -R

He means so much to me a year and a half later and I feel just as lonely as I did that day he died. I don’t exactly k ow what is there at the end the universe’s plan matter god… ext. but I know if it’s nothing then I will follow him into the dark l. Cause I know till the day I die I will feel this empty-ness cause I know a big part of me died with him and I’ll never get that back. As that spark/light turned of I realized I’m sorry in the dark just alone and I will hunt him down till the end of time through whenever obstacles I need to fight my way through to find him.
