Learned by ear and recorded in one take, no edits, so forgive the mistakes.
Download my tab! Most tabs I find online aren't very accurate so I learned and tabbed this by ear.
Guitar Pro (the online player can be a bit buggy, there's a downloadable .gp5 file available at bottom of the page that should work better): tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/...
PDF: drive.google.com/file/d/1QszS...
All my Death tabs so far (both PDF and GP5 files available to download): drive.google.com/drive/folder...
Gear used:
Guitar: BC Rich Stealth Legacy
Amp simulator: Bias FX
DAW: Ableton Live
Interface: Focusrite Scarlett Solo
MIDI Footswitch: Behringer FCB1010 via M-Audio Uno
Video Editor: OpenShot Video Editor (freeware)
Camera: Canon Powershot G7X MkII
A bit about my tone:
I'm using 2 instances of Bias FX (1, not Bias FX 2), panned slightly left and right in Ableton Live. Both instances have separate presets. I've uploaded these presets to the Bias FX Tonecloud (in both Bias FX 1 and 2). The presets are called "DeathLeftSide" and "DeathRightSide". The tone I'm using was built in Bias FX 1. I have migrated it directly to Bias FX 2, but it sounds different and I haven't tweaked it.
Apart from Bias plugins, I'm also using an EQ and a Gate in Ableton before Bias, and more EQ after Bias. Long story short: I scooped out a TON of mids and took a good chunk of the boominess out of the low end.

My brother in christ, how many hours did you spend to get that tone so god damn perfect? But in all seriousness, you killed this to the point that your playing almost sounds like a part of the record. What a legend you are.

I loved your performance! Is there any way you could do an in depth tutorial on the solo? I've been trying to learn it and I'm more of a visual learner so tabs have been difficult for me to pinpoint the accuracy. There aren't many Death tutorials on KZread and I think that's a travesty! If you could do that I'll die happy!

Thanks mate! I may get around to doing more in-depth lessons on these songs but probably not until after I get through covering them all. I would recommend trying to work with tabs more often, especially if you find it to be a weakness right now. Being able to use tabs is invaluable as a guitarist and working on your weaknesses is the only way to progress.

To add to this, there's a lot of nuance around Chuck's playing that you just can't really capture in a tab, particularly around the fast shreddy sections. To be honest, I just bluff them in a similar style. It would be impossible to recreate those parts note-for-note. So if that's one thing that's putting you off learning by tabs, don't worry about it. Even my tabs have a disclaimer above them saying it's an approximation around the same scale.

@@DeathCovers Thank you for responding! And yeah I that's exactly the problem with the tabs I've been looking at lol. It's been more than a week and all I've been doing is noodling to see if I can get it close lol. Thank you for the advice and I hope to see more awesome covers from you!

@@kennettrosario2224 Thanks mate! Honestly I'd love to give you more specific advice about trying to emulate Chuck but it's just something I picked up by playing his stuff over and over and over for years, and I'm still pretty far off the mark. For those fast runs, figure out the general scale of what he's playing, move your picking hand really fast, and just wildly go between the notes of that scale as you do it. Try to pick out roughly where he is in the scale at a particular moment so that you're moving through it at roughly the same pace, if that makes sense. And don't trust tabs if your ears are telling you it sounds wrong. I started transcribing stuff myself because the general quality of tabs (both free and "professional") is generally not good.
