Hey Mike. I’m an American, born and raised and I’ve seen horrors in the U.S. that you’d think could only be found in 3rd world despots. I’ve found that those who fervently support the U.S. are dotting sheep who are clueless to the darkness that resides in the U.S. to begin with. You’re probably a nice person and all, but you’re absolutely clueless to what the U.S. is. Ignorance is bliss, no?

@@discobutterflydisappointingly, nobody seems to know the constitution, and those who “know it” will almost always twist it in the ways that fit their views. I think if you ever get here, you will be disappointed in that way, but if you can come over and help this country in a positive way politically. Please come as soon as you can, we need good politicians and lawyers.

As an American with ancestral ties to the English colonies, I appreciate this quote so much because SO MANY uneducated people living in this country, enjoying its many benefits, have ZERO GRATITUDE to the great English peoples who FOUNDED THIS NATION. A true, old fashioned Englishman and a true old fashioned American are barely distinguishable in their appearance and culture, in so many ways.

My dinky little town college had professors caught YEARS ago promoting anti-American practices, such as judging based upon race, selective enforcement of who can use the First Amendment, not to mention the overall hatred to the 2A that most professors seem to have. They don't hate guns mind you, they hate that the average person can own them. They're fine having a selective branch of some organization that wields guns so long as they're the ones telling that organization how to use them. And personally I was amazed at the animosity with which one of my professors at the time there regarded me with due to not fitting into her political beliefs. I didn't stay long, decided to go into trades rather than waste money on those who would poison our country with their acidic ideology under the guise of "academic virtue."

@@trashjash I feel as if you aren't telling the whole story. Jsyk, I am on the political left, and I do see the validity of the second amendment. However, I feel like it's used as a political tool. The GOP likes to run on crime, and expanding easy-access to firearms worsens crime. It is an issue they feed, which in return feeds their campaigning. Same applies to the border issues. The second amendment also has issues with interpretation. It is rather vaguely written. Secondly, the first amendment is easily exploitable through social engineering, especially in the age of social media. Free speech is valuable, but I also think it can be manipulated to effectively deny it. For example: Lets say I set up a bot farm that bombards the internet with leftist propaganda, drowning out all conservative voices, would I not be violating the free speech of others? Would I not be interfering with the marketplace of ideas, by making an ideology seem more popular than it is? Or: If, hypothetically, an authoritarian can rise to power through the use of charisma and rage, who proceeds to nullify the constitution, would that mean that the constitution-- and by extension the first amendment, failed to do fulfill their intended purpose of protecting liberty?

If you were being honest, you would see that what could be called the vague part, is what constitutes well regulated militia, And exactly how that should interact with the right to keep and bear arms. By what you said, anybody who wants any weapon should just be able to roll up and get a gun anytime they want; whether they’re trained, have good intentions or bad, are insane, want to rob someone to get money for dope, or they’re drunk and enraged, or any of 100 other reasons I’m sure you wouldn’t approve of. There’s a lot of text in the constitution and the amendments; it doesn’t always succeed at being simply and clearly understood or followed, and it doesn’t always support just one viewpoint.

Very well said my dude. I too was born in CA but was taken to the U.K after my parents split. I grew up in around north London from the age of 3 to 32. I've been back and all over the U.S (made easier because my mum kept my U.S citizenship up). The part where you said that you appear to be a lot American than a lot of lifetime Americans, or words to that effect, is exactly verbatim of what I've said in the past 20 years or so that I've travelled around this great country. Your insights are great. Keep up the great vids :)

As an American of English decent I say welcome to the fray. To the naysayers both here and in the old country I leave you with this. If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

We also have that class mindset in America where we just stay in the same place all our lives bc of what we were born with too. It’s just mainly in poorer rural areas I imagine. I’ve dealt with it growing up and that’s what my father sort of did. I know a lot of my friends also have that mindset too. The only time I realized I had I choice to change it was when I went to college then I realized I can do anything I want if I work hard enough. I’ve noticed it’s also like a tradition/peer pressure thing too, being in that mindset. Depends on who you’re around. And thank you for supporting us, brother! Freedom for all!

Thank you so much for your message! It is what America needs to hear from a naturalized citizen. I am an immigrant from Germany, having come here as a child with my family. We all became American citizens, and I can honestly say my father was the most patriotic person I've ever know. I, too, identify as an American. Still, I'm proud of my German heritage and the rich history of my family prior to coming to America. Yes, the American dream is accessible to all. After being here for only three years my mother, who didn't speak English upon arriving, completed an accounting course and found gainful employment. My father had a job waiting for him upon our immigration, which was the rule back then. My family worked hard and lived the American dream. They assimilated and were able and proud to give back to the country that took them in and offered them a new home. I wish you much success in your life.

What I'm living in now is NOT America. I want my country back. I want America back. We can let this happen to us.

But the politicians are American citizens we voted for so if you don’t see them as America shouldn’t we work to vote for people who care more and invest more into improving our great country? I think we do have some great representatives serving us right now and those people don’t take bribes from lobbyists and big corporations. I don’t want to go back to a time where large parts of America has less freedoms I want to go forward into the future and see progress that improves our beautiful nation for everyone.

@katyhippyreviews231 Yeah, I totally agree with you. There are good politicians out there, though very few from what I can tell. I couldn't care less if they are Republicans or Democrats, as long as they love THIS county and it's people and do what's right for us first and foremost. I find it appalling that so many of our so-called representatives have dual citizenship. That should be an automatic disqualification for serving in government. For any country! It's hard to believe that someone who has pledged half of their loyalty (in many cases ALL of their loyalty) to a country other than the one they claim to represent. A lot of people were offended by Trumps "America First" slogan, but really, what on earth is wrong with that? It doesn't mean you hate others. It just means that you're putting your countries interests first. That's A-OK with me! We've been playing second fiddle to every interest under the sun for so long, we need politicians who actually care about THIS country. Not clowns like Mike Pence, who unashamedly answered a question about our needs with "That's not my concern." If the interests of US citizens is not your concern, then what the hell are you doing in the US government? Sorry for the long response, but this video really got to me. An "outsiders" view is often the most clear, and this young man nailed it. We have so much! My heart breaks daily at what I'm seeing happen around me.

I also love that we can work where we want doing what we want. I have 24 grandchildren. So far, one is going to a private Christian school, two are going to public school, one to a preschool, thirteen are being homeschooled, and the rest are too young to be educated. Your sentence "And founded a nation the world had never seen" is a truth that is unknown or overlooked by many Americans. We hear a lot about "American exceptionalism" today, especially from various politicians and pundits. Unfortunately some fail to understand what that term really means. It does not mean that America is better at what it does or in what it has than other countries. It means that America is unique because its government was founded upon principals of freedom and self-governance, an idea that had never prevailed anywhere else in the world at that time. The root word "exceptional" has two distinct meanings: "better than" or "unique". It is that second meaning that is at the heart of American exceptionalism, not the first. It refers to our form of government, not to our inherent worth. Thank you for raising that point.

Dear Echo Mike - I appreciate your honest expression of what you have experienced in America and what you believe is so good about it. I'm an American so of course I like it when people are proud of my country! I think you and I would have a great conversation about how a people should best govern themselves, a question that humans have been asking for millennia. I have a suspicion though, that we have a different view of the American Dream and what it means to "fight for it". For me, democracy is that dream - a government of, by and for the people - all people - all races and religions living in tolerance and appreciation of what we each contribute. And I include in that group even those folks who, for many reasons small and large, don't contribute much at all, and so we who are stronger help them. America IS a dream, because no where in history has there ever been a country where different "tribes", and especially so many different religious allegiances, managed to live so close together and try to govern themselves without absolute rule by a king or a dictator. That's amazing when you think about it! So far we've beat the odds in this difficult but inspiring experiment but it's definitely a hard road to travel (like in the Civil War). But let's keep that dream alive and fight for radical inclusion, full-hearted love and compassionate understanding for each other. America hasn't lost its way, or lost its greatness, because that greatness has always been our life-giving ability to change and grow, a constant evolution toward greater and greater inclusion, justice, vision and creativity. When immigrants come and thrive because of the freedoms here, we all win! No country has ever done this kind of mixing before while also trying to support the equality and value of all its people. We've had to grow into that challenge, with many mistakes, like slavery. But I pray we keep growing into it, in greater and greater ways, both outer and inner, both practical and spiritual. However, if Trump wins and fascism takes hold in an imperial presidency, and the rule of law continues to crumble, the experiment will probably end. Then yes, I'll consider leaving as you suggest. In fact, I have always loved England, so we can trade! I feel the English in general are a kinder, gentler people. I'm 77 and ready to have tea and chat, stroll the beautiful English countryside and enjoy some of your sweet customs in my final years. But you - young, intelligent, healthy, ambitious and white are a perfect fit for MAGA rule. You will thrive, but I hope you'll also watch out for the many, many people who will be crushed by the autocracy Trump promises and hurt by the loss of our fragile, challenging but beautiful democracy. America's dynamic creativity around what it means to be human and how to live together with the greatest good for the greatest number may disappear and we'll have lost the enormous challenge not only of creating a true democracy, but the challenge of true Christian love.
