He was a perfectionist. Such a craftsman of jokes. Every word, every pause was honed to perfection. I laugh till I cry whenever I watch him. The endless tributes to the greatest stand up comedian that ever lived bring tears to my eyes. How special s life can you live when no one has a bad word to say about you? Respect!

Entertainers were so different back then, and this wasn’t even all that long ago. This was towards the end of the golden era. I am grateful to have grown up in the 60s and 70s, lots of fantastic legends.

Dean could do it all. He could act. He could sing. He could make you laugh. He could play golf six days a week. Work one day a week and get paid millions. Best of all he was always hone for dinner, had a drink, and was in bed to watch a good movie on tv.

I totally agree with you. Dean was a natural Comic. I am glad we have all the you tube to watch him. The 7th. of June will be celebrated with a Dean Martin you tube Marathon, He would have been 100. But to me he will stay young in my memory for ever. Heidrun

Years ago I had a boyfriend who loved Rodney. I did also, but he was crazy for Rodney. I live right near NYC, I purchased "The New Yorker" and saw that Rodney would be playing at his own club in the city - 'Dangerfields'. I purchased tickets for my man & me and I took him into Dangerfirlds for his birthday. As it turned out, Rodney was in Las Vegas. The magazine was wrong. We enjoyed the evening, but were very disappointed. I wrote a letter to Rodney, care of Dangerfields in NYC. I made it funny. I enclosed a copy of the magazine, saying he would be at Dangerfields on that date, & "we didn't get no respect". Surprisingly, I got an apology letter from Rodney's secretary 2 weeks later. It was their mistake, & not only did they refund my money, they invited us for a whole night at Dangerfields on a night he would be there. (Including dinner!) So of course we went & they had a table reserved for us right near the stage. It was great! And Rodney had Jim come up on the stage! They bantered back & forth, & Rodney asked Jim did he play any sports. Jim was a semi pro at a local, very prestigious golf club. They held the Masters there a few years ago. So Rodney brought Jim up on stage for a golf lesson. It was very funny. And Jim had a great sense of humor & they laughed at eachother. Ill never forget that night. ♡

@@ftoniaromano6480 That's a great story. I feel like Rodney tried to treat everyone right when he wasn't on stage. I don't think he forgot where he came from.

How come Rodney wasn't invited to Dean's roasts? Anyone has a clue about that? I've watched dozens of Dean Martin celebrity roasts but I never saw Rodney.

He tells one liners, instead of making himself the target he'd make the roastie the target. Just watch Caddyshack his whole performance in that movie is one big roast of poor Ted.

D4RTH KNIGHT I think it's because Dangerfield's whole act was making fun of himself. That's the exact opposite of a roast.
