@@Yolomanning18 What do you mean by original? Dobie Gray's amazing 1973 soul version wasn't actually the original. John Henry Kurtz's 1972 country rock version wasn't the original either! Uncle Kracker's 2003 version is certainly not the original haha. The original was recorded by Clarence Carter in 1970, but I am not a big fan of that version.

This is probably the greatest cover of this Dobie Gray tune I've ever heard. So close to Dobie's version but has your flair to it.

"Drift Away" is a song by Mentor Williams written in 1970 and originally recorded by John Henry Kurtz on his 1972 album Reunion. Mentor Williams was a country songwriter, and John Henry Kurtz was an actor and swamp rock singer..

This has always been one of my fav songs, and you certainly did it justice! Love your voice.

I've listened to I think all of his songs that he has covered. I have not disliked any of them. All are great top notch performer.
