Dealing with stripped Diff or Transfer case fill / drain plugs.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Using very little magic and vanquishing most demons, I demonstrate one way with hints on how to remove damaged fill and drain plugs. This applies to female square drive plugs of various sizes and metallurgy.
The cleaning of the first few exposed thread and using good penetrating oil is always advised when removing any damaged fastener.
Shocking slightly can also assist with breaking any molecular bonds between surfaces.

Good job. I have a fuct transfer case plug in my Suzuki grand vitara. Seems King Kong stripped it on the last service. Looks like steel plug on aluminum case and tight as fuc. Could be flogging a dead horse here.

Dealing with a similar issue on a motorcycle right now. No solution yet but you’ve shared some spells that I haven’t seen in other videos. Appreciate the real world example too. Cheers!

Maybe a brass replacement 1/2 npt with square head? Most are hollow. Some say not to use stainless? Alum silver never seize should allow what ever we can find??? Hmm, my 2000 f250 has a wallered diff fill plug. Keeps me up in anticipation! Lol

They are 10mm, that's probably why it's stripped, using a 3/8 will wreck them.

Doesn’t steel and aluminum corrode when used together like that?

Is that "Easy Out" the name of that tool, or is that just a nickname you gave it? I can't seem to find that anywhere on-line or at any local auto stores or home depot's etc. Where can I find one like that, I have the exact problem going on as in this video.
