Honestly there should be classes in schools for ASL. I would have love to learn and actually carry a conversation, it’s honestly so cool❤️ I myself am actually learning basic ASL and using common words at work to sign to my co worker

I'm taking ASL at my highschool this year! There are a few schools with ASL as a language class option, but it should be available everywhere imo! It's a really fun class and very immersive, especially for hands-on (pun intended) learners like myself!

Every child should learn ASL in the states. It helps the child to be more observant and aware of what’s going on around them, even if they are hearing. Not to mention, that it’s a necessary language skill to have, as deaf/hard of hearing people exist everywhere.

@@Sedonawhite That's because you don't know it. You're clearly an ableist with something against the deaf community, if your Eugenics comment is anything to go by. Most people who are deaf, or in some way disabled, are born to hearing and able-bodied parents. The majority of deaf parents have hearing children. It isn't something we have any control over. If they decide on their own to risk it, knowing that they have the resources to handle and properly raise a deaf child, then it is no different from anyone else choosing to have a child. Any child may be born with a disability, or develop one later. That's something you prepare and watch out for as a parent. Being deaf or having a disability does not mean that someone is worthless.

In my opinion this question should not have been asked: Why do you want to have deaf kids??? Really?!! These deaf parents are so loving with there children, there children look so happy and are well cared for by both parents. Plus Mom is teaching her children sign language. So many parents or Moms out in this world that don't care of there children and so even sadly kill there children. Kudos and blessings to this family!! My daughter isn't deaf, but I started signing to her at 2 months old. She finally signed back milk at 8 months old. Before she was born, I read a sign language book that had common signs used for babies and kids. I believe that helped my daughter as she went on to learn about 50 signs over the next 2 years. We have since forgotten most of them as she is 9 now but I feel it helped her to communicate well because people said when she first started speaking she spoke very well and effectively communicated. It's definitely worth doing even if your child isn't deaf. I enjoyed learning about it and teaching my daughter. Awesome to see this video.

I'm hearing, but I learned ASL as my first language. i wholeheartedly recommend teaching it to your babies before they're able to speak. very quickly, I realized that it was much better and more useful than crying. this is advantageous, for obvious reasons. let's just say I hope your kids are smarter than me about it, though. one time, I was around 18 months old, and I was watching TV. i was alone in the room, but my father was poking his head in the door every few minutes to check on me. i was sitting in a little child-sized chair, which tipped backwards on two legs and leaned against the surface behind it. the logical thing to do to remedy the situation is cry. call someone. but signing is just so much more effective than crying! surely it'll help me here! and that's how my father glanced into the room and saw me, looking very unhappy, sitting in a chair that was leaning on two legs... while signing "help, help, help".
