Deadly heat wave hits West Coast

Firefighters out West are trying to contain dozens of wildfires amid a dangerous and deadly heat wave. A motorcyclist died over the weekend after enduring scorching temperatures in Death Valley National Park. Carter Evans reports on the record-breaking and deadly heat.

    There are boots you can put on your dog's paws to protect them from extremes of temperature. They may walk funny with them on for a while, but they'll get used to them and it's better than having burned paw pads treated.

    When it gets to 115°F, you can say what you want about a dry heat all you want. At that point, hot is hot regardless of if it's humid or dry.

    I work outside it was 118 over the weekend all I did was stay hydrated if I started to feel a little too hot threw some ice in my hard hat, keep drinking water you’ll survive

There's nothing but Great Lakes, clear streams, endless freshwater, quality fishing, green rolling hills, endless upnorth forests, festivals, micro-breweries, whitewater kayaking, abundant wildlife, escarpment views, live music everywhere, Friday fish fries...Then there's winter!     That really doesn't do anything but reflect the infrared rays back into the atmosphere making the ambient temperature higher. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣plus it only reduces the temp of the surface like 10F

    Regarding that SB fire, I was driving around the area coming out of the sand dunes in Guadalupe that Friday afternoon when I saw the smoke emitting out from the Zaca Lake area. Really feel for the residents out in that rural area, driving around there in particular by the SR 154 has always been very scenic.

    The whole U.S is absurdly warm as of now. The West is very hot and dry and also in the Northeast. Occasionally we’ve seen days in the East 90+ degrees on a daily basis. Some even in the 100s with high humidity yet sparse amounts of rain, everywhere! In the West this is also the case.

    @@torreyintahoe that’s not entirely accurate and doesn’t negate anything I said. You’re missing WA, UT, SD, SC, and OR which also had all time heat records in the past 20 years. But this metric isn’t that useful for assessing global changes, monthly averages and consecutive heat records are better indicators. Monthly average temps have been increasing in all states for over a century and consecutive heat records are being set very frequently, including right now

    It's 78F in San Diego for for weeks, its already too hot ehen running errands! The hottest I ever experience was when I was visiting Egypt in September 2021, no trees, 99F! 🥵 Around the pyramid, temples! I was walking around with a melted ice water bottle, which I put in the freezer the night before! I had a USB charging neck fan, it was still hot 🥵🔥 i can hardly eat, i passed out soon as I got back to my room.

    Scripture just prophesized any doomsday event so that in the future anything with a semblance to the prophecy can prove whatever scripture said. Today, it is human greed and selfishness that are bringing destruction. If the evangelical republican conservatives had not obstructed any eco-friendly policies and measures to prevent climate change, then none of these events would happened. People who believe in scripture are death cultists who are striving to leave this earth while leaving this earth to be hell for the next generation.

    Firefighters from all over California just saved our home and our town. from our wildfire. The save was the equivalent of a half court basket, an incredible mix of effort, skill and luck. Most fires are started by accident or negligence. Only a tiny fraction of arson fires are started by firefighters. Don’t dis firefighters, cops or soldiers when you are out in public
