Ah, this brings back some great memories of dancing to the original band. Longtime Deadhead, 39 yrs & counting. Up in the northeast, from Maine to Virginia. Some great shows and great times. A lot of sleepless nights out on the road, but loving every minute of it. Thanx for posting this.

People always talk about wanting space to dance. But for me a big part of the fun was being kinda crowed with other other similar dancers and having people walk between us carrying beers and how how hardly anyone even bumped into each other. Being super dosed is a necessity. Drunks definitely can't do it. Nor people who are too spastic. It's a certain combination of skipping, spinning, and bending and straightening your arms at the elbow lol Way bouncier than these people No offense to anyone there. It's obviously not the same as the old days for anyone. I haven't seen anyone from the Dead since Phil in 2001 I think

Your right about the super dosed part. And you made me remember the 1992 New Year show about 30 minutes beefore I started being moved by the "Sweet Emotion" that the music & some sweet smelling females induced. I was walking through the dancer zone & even your walk becomes a dance in itself as you dodge oncoming body parts!

I was skeptical at first to see D&C. Thinking it was cash grab. But Holy cow Bobby and John Mayer blew me away. Mayer is very talented musician. You can see the spark in their eyes when playing just like you could see between Jerry and Brent in the late 80's early 90's

The Disney-fied Grateful Dead. They've slapped the name on everything from Nike to deodorant to camping gear to sports coats to you name it. Embarrassing. I can say confidently that Garcia would not be having any of this crap. I love Bobby, it's terrific he's still playing but I just can't listen to Dead and Co or THE Wolf Bros. He's dialed everything back so much and taken all the swing and energy out of the songs. And then I see folks comment about how it was the best show they've seen. And that may be true, it's not for me to say. I would just encourage those people to give any show from 72 to 74 a listen again and appreciate what the Grateful Dead were capable of in their prime. There's really no bad shows, in my opinion, from this time period (with the exception of the horn shows, but they still played great). They played consistently well and were only getting better and better.

This is embarrassing. Either these people are having seizures or they are pretending that this music is good. Sorry not a fan of Bobby's "singing" it's more like talking sing in sentences with emphasis on the punctuation Mark's. Hard to explain any other way but it sucks. I just dont feel it anymore. This scene is sad. Holding on to the past.
