"worst ever" is always hyperbolic, and opinionated. Some people just don't get it and live their lives by watch mojo and the like as if the first top 10 lists they see on a topic are gospel.

There was a joke in Teen Titans go about a older version of the cartoon that could only afford to turn Beast Boy into a Donkey. Beast Boy being stuck as one animal should be a joke not something the audience has to take seriously.

The original Titans didn't need anything else to be edgy, but I'm still mad about what they did to my boy Jason, a lot of media had tried to make Robin Jason angry and edgy, but he was sweet if not spunky and as much as I love red hood, they somehow fucked up the most straightforward of a plotline, like c'mon the boy gets fed up, leaves, get killed and a lot of people think "maybe we were the assholes all along" and he comes back guns blazing and angry

Oh, but it gets worse when you get into her backstory in the comics (at least the original continuity). This is because Starfire was sold to slavery by her parents when their planet was threatened with war- her sister betrayed their people as an act of revenge- and it was the only way for war to be avoided. Plus, Starfire was subjected to worse stuff while enslaved, which yes includes stuff that I don't feel comfortable mentioning but needless to say she's a survivor of SA. She escaped to Earth following being experimented on, which gave her the powers to begin with, with her escape to Earth allowing her to become a member of the Teen Titans. While still a warrior, she was also shown to be a compassionate person as well.

Hear me out: The Guardians movies tell the story of a group of outcasts who have all suffered trauma in one way or another, and who are brought together through a common threat. Most importantly, the moment she tries to kill a villain mid battle robin tells her "NO. Stop that. bad." and she goes through an arc where adjusts to earth and being a hero and not jsut a warrior. people kinda forget that Starfire IS a warrior.

Don't call someone 'super dumb' when you can't spell, can't use the shift key, and can't figure out that writers do the writing. Also, quick check and more effort than I actually care to put into this (specifically: scrolling the Wikipedia page for the show) shows like 9 writers. Of the developers: Greg Berlanti only got 'story by, credit, Geoff Johns has credit for 4 episodes, Akiva Goldsman has credit for 2, and all of this may simply reflect who by the arcane rules of the WGA 'earned' writing credit. Figuring out past this I legit don't care to try to do. That said, it's worth noting that none of the developers got tagged as the story editor... They also were aiming for a more adult Riverdale. Yeah. Definitely nailed the whole idea of a more adult version of a good ol' sketchy dumpster on fire. (Plus this show went into development in 2014.)

The more I learn about Titans and Velma, the more relieved I am that Powerpuff never got to be a thing on The CW. It almost was. Maybe it did not have this much violence, cursing or sexual situations compared to Titans or Velma, but if you knew about the premise of that show or read its leaked pilot script, CW Powerpuff still committed the same cardinal sin of making its characters unlikable douchebags who are completely different people from what they once were, being an unfaithful adaptation of previous shows under the same IP, and being an unfunny messy work of art that fails at telling a gritty mature story for older target demographics, because it was done in an inconsistently immature and stupid way that makes it impossible for any viewers to take the story seriously enough to like or root for the main characters who are not intended to be villains. well since you asked as someone who read the comic years i'll try and explain what's differnt there: -first raven. her powers are completely different, as she's an EMPATH who can sense and manipulate the emotions of others (she doesn't do the latter often) and has other psychic abilities tied to it like give people visions and dreams and can also astral project her soul as a giant ghost bird. She's actually the one who brings the team together by willfully going to them and guiding them together. She's actually not as terse as most versions like the cartoon do, at worst she has trouble connecting to people and undertsanding the limits of what she should do morally (though she's very moral usually) and can be quite distant to people despite her abilities and wanting to do good, which leads to conflict later on as noone can be sure what side she's on despite her attempts to be a hero. -robin's the leader naturally, like batman he makes up for his lack of powers compared to his teammates wth his level headedness and intelligence. he's also the glue of the group, keeping everyone together and trying to instill morals into everyone, he's actually the one who maintains the no murder rule (mostly towards starfire) -starfire's SUPER different from her cartoon self. She's a warrior princess from tamaraan and thus has lived her life with her people's principles as well as fighting her evil sister's attempts to murder her. She actually joins the team after escaping evil alien slavers. Her powers are actually a result of experiments done to her by her kidnappers and not part of her abilities as an alien and the torture of the experiments is aprt of why she's so...testy at first when she's introduced. She's actually okay with murdering her enemies because that's just how she was raised and Robin has to corral her and teach her to not do that. She does still have the "alien learnign human culture" thing but its not as pronounced as she's not as naive as she is in the cartoon, but she is quite loyal and friendly outside of combat once things settle. -beats boy is a friendly goofball who also likes to flirt with the girls. I think he's also rich as fuck. Oh and he actually goes by changeling at this point, beast boy was his name when he was a younger hero who was in Doom Patrol. -there are ther members of the team. of course we all know cyborg, but there's also wonder girl (wonder woman's sidekick) and kid flash (who is introuced wanting to leave the hero life and actively avoid joining the titans so raven does her one immoral act in the story by using her powers to make him fall in love with ehr so he'd be willing to oin the team which leads to conflict betwween her,him and the rest of the team later on)

Raven is just a cool character usually there with crazy powers but issues involving them emotionally and trauma wise. Ok protecting her is finme, whats terrible is that they are supposed to become friends and like help each other through that stuff. The original titans seem, darker. an more edgy, but also, probably still friends. And beast boys caracter actually makes him a cheerful jokey guy that uses that as fassade to cope with his trauma and help people. He is actually beastboy, but he is wasted in that edgy show. If he cant actually cheer people up. And starfire , is , badly written but once she gets her memory its, ok. She could be nor be more kluke the warrior princess that is , no we must keep them edgy dark, no place for any of character process to not be as edgy. Ok starfire having a streak to beat up poeople makes actually sense in character, its very questionable writing, but she is a warrior princess, her beating them up, starfire has a violent streak. @@TempoLOOKING I assume angels are like the Spectre, who is literally God's vengeance. The Spectre can't do a thing until there's an absolute cosmic danger. So when Crisis on Infinite Earths (which literally ends in the multiverse being destroyed) happens, he could only intervene near the end, during that fight between all the remaining heroes (Crisis on Infinite Earths has a HUGE body count. Over 300 deaths in the main comic, and that's just people with names I can remember.) The actual fight between him and the Anti-Monitor, and Krona viewing the fight, is what destroys the multiverse, and replaces it with a single universe, different in subtle ways. So maybe it's best that the angels don't intervene all the time. Zero Hour it's the same thing. Only after Hal Jordan accelerates time past the heat death of the universe can the Spectre intervene.

I was actually thinking about this like 30 minutes ago, so this perfect timing. I also did a video ranting about this 2 years ago talking about how it butchered the characters. It looks like it's made by people who think the only reason DC is liked is because it's dark, which I don't need to explain why that's such a childish mindset. But to summaries for, one the Titans and Teen Titans are 2 different teams. The Teen Titans are, well teenage heroes, some who are, others who aren't proteges to members of the Justice League. Such as the different versions of Robin, Aqualad or Beast Boy, Raven and so on. The Titans meanwhile are the adult versions of the founding members of the Teen Titans, those being Nightwing, Wally West Flash, Donna Troy the former Wonder Girl, Tempest formally Aqualad and Roy Harper the original Speedy, now Arsenal. But that's a superficial issue. What's even worse is Garth (Tempest) is already dead and is a NOTHING character. Donna dying at the end of season 2, despite there being NO set up to her dying, meaning her death accomplishes nothing, because she doesn't really do much of anything. And I'm with everyone in how they butchered Jason's Arc as Red Hood, its a perfect example of how this show is melodramatic edginess that misses the point of the characters they're writing. This show had 6 producers, one of which was Jeoff Johns, who was head of DC for a time, but his presence feels so minimal because he's probably just there to approve of shit. The majority of the producers have actually worked on Supernatural....I'll let that sink in. There's already so many series like Titans such as the Teen Titans series, Young justice and the Animated movies. If you wanted to watch a good story with the Titans/Teen Titans you could go watch those. And if you weren't interested in the Titans or Teen Titans, this show will not change that whatsoever because its Titans in name only. What's worse is Brenton Thwaites the actor who plays Dick, could've been a GREAT live action Nightwing, the problem is Dick in this show acts more like Jason Todd and Jason acts more like Damian Wayne, but if he never became Robin. Thats just the tip of the ice berg of what I think makes this show a steaming pile of Tween dogshit that you'd find on FanFiction.net. I can't even with this show, it's just such a great example of misunderstanding why DC or by extension the Titans and Teen Titans are loved

I didn't think it would be like the 2000s cartoon, obviously, but the violence was grotesquely excessive, the characters felt flat as pancakes, I disliked how they changed the ages, it felt stupidly overdramatic (I can't agree enough about the Raven's mother death scene - I felt exactly the same way when watching Percy's Mum die in the new Percy Jackson series) and don't get me started on how they straight up forgot to paint Starfire orange! I thought it was so awful I couldn't bear to watch another episode. It was a real shame, as I thought that Ryan Potter sounded like a good choice for Beast Boy! It's kind of... The Haney run is very light-hearted and sort of like Teen Titans GO! but good. The Wolfman run reimagines the characters in a darker sense. By the end of the Wolfman run, it had gone the same grimdark way as all 90s comics, though, and it becomes unbearable by that point. Also, changes start happening way too fast for the audience to keep up with. You need to establish a status quo before shaking up the status quo again For example, here's the basics of Titans Hunt: The Titans are kidnapped by the Wildebeest Society, who are led by Jericho, who is possessed and looking for new bodies now that the old ones are gone. During this time, we're introduced to grimdark Titans from the future called the Team Titans. And they evten have a new Terra. Oh, and Cyborg is a vegetable (and gets a new body as a Soviet killbot), and Golden Eagle (Remember him? Me neither.), Danny Chase, and Raven and her mother are all dead. And Titans Tower is destroyed. But Red Star is now on the Titans, and controlling Soviet Killbot!Cyborg. Jericho is killed by Deathstroke as well, but at this point, there's nothing left of him. (Oh, he comes back years later, crazy.) All of that in some 15 issues.

I can completely agree with your observations on difficulty. Look at the original Suicide Squad movie. You have some street level characters taking on what is effectively a Superman villain. You need some contrived asspull just to avoid them being completely destroyed. Even though it's an overdone trope, at least in manga, when they have a character confront a "demon king" that character is 50 Shades of Badass themselves, and are probably the most powerful thing in the entire story. If you have a character fight a god, with any realistic expectation of victory, then that character has to be running in the god leagues themselves. Of course that also means lower level threats aren't, but at least your character is consistent.

  • @thechaotichero9130

    @thechaotichero9130

You know, the best way I can say this is that for difficulty it is always best to start it low and then raise the stakes higher. I mean some anime do this like dragon ball z where they train to get stronger or even demon slayer where the main character tanjiro starts off weak fighting weak demons but later on after gaining experience and strength they go fight muzan. Even there they needed a few people to beat him. I am a story teller and a good advise I can tell others are to start off easy and then hard but if you do make the protagonist fight a extremely hard enemy in the beginning either make the hero lose to show how strong the enemy is and have the protagonist get saved or do it Harry Potter style and have the main villain and main hero start off weak and throughout the story have them meet each other in difficulty.

The CW Crisis crossover retconned Doom Patrol & Titans being in the same universe, presumably from the positive reception that Doom Patrol received, that when they later bring the Doom Patrol back in s4 (i think?), they have to go through an entire multiverse sequence to get to them.

One thing these edgy superhero stories have in common is the heroes never save anyone. They'll violently beat down the villain's henchmen or any fool that gets in their way, but taking the time out to save/comfort someone in dire straights Is unthinkable. I can only guess is the showmakers think this would make the hero 'weak' for not being cold-hearted. It would be so easy to tweak the scripts to have the Titans help others. Take the diner. Kory and Raven leave but looking back notice the diner is being robbed. Kory wants to leave since Raven takes priority but then sees the robbers hurting people and so dives in to stop them. Badass and heroic. Instead all we got was badass and violent.

My biggest issue with the Titans TV show as a comic fan is how they treat the Robins and Batman. Each Robin and Batman has "something" wrong with them on a fundamental level that fucks up their character on an adaptation standpoint. First of all, Dick Grayson is not edgy Robin. Point, blank, period. Let's be clear, because Dick was raised by Batman first, and Batman was an imperfect father at that time, it did leave Dick with a few mental scars. From an adaptation standpoint, this is best shown in Teen Titans 2003 and the TNBA episode "Old Wounds." Nightwing has some edge, but he isn't stabbing criminals in the fucking balls. The premise of Nightwing on a greater standpoint within the DC universe is to be "The Better Batman." Be everything Bruce isn't, and correct his faults. He should not be a Daredevil wannabe grinding criminal's faces into glass because that's something old Bruce would do. Not the Nightwing who bailed on Bruce after he saw him interrogate a father in front of his child. Jason probably gets the worst treatment. He gets turned into some edgy frat bro, when his darkside in the comics comes from him being a street kid. As a result, he gets down and dirty, but also empathizes with Gotham's plight on a deeper level. Even as Red Hood, he isn't an outright criminal running an elaborate smear campaign. He's genuinely doing what he thinks is right to save Gotham. If you can't eradicate crime in Gotham, control it and take out a few scumbags along the way. If you want to see the best version of this, watch "Under the Red Hood" the movie, since the comic tended to get a little distracted. Tim has the least flaws, but the MOST fundamental one. Batman is literally retired. He still WANTS to be Robin, but that's not the same. Tim is, objectively speaking, the best Robin Batman ever had. He understands the purpose of Robin is to be Batman's perfect side kick. When he assumed/begged for the role of Robin, he did it knowing that without a Robin, Batman reverts back to his state before Robin. An angry, vengeful soul, self-destructively taking out crime. Tim is a great detective, he is the best technician, an ok combatant, and a great foil to Batman. Tim levels Bruce, and without Bruce even being a part of a show, you have a Robin devoid of his core traits and the person he needs to bounce them off of. Also, Bruce got some serious character assassination in season 3. I already didn't like him for the first 2 seasons because he's too old, but to add the fact that he was DELIBERATELY looking for replacements to Jason less than a week after he died is so out of character, that it makes me sick. Batman doesn't LOOK for Robins, and he certainly didn't after Jason. When Jason died in the books (under completely different circumstances), Batman didn't want or have a Robin for years because he saw to the max how dangerous it was. That's why he was so resistant to letting Tim into the Bat family. So to do this thing to drive a wedge between Dick and Bruce for fake drama is insulting.

Kind of odd to treat the Teen Titans property like only the shows exist, the cartoon was not the "og" for these characters. Doesn't detract from your criticism at all it's just an odd framework for your analysis that a kids' cartoon is the original framework of these characters. That cartoon is in several ways a neutered/heavily adapted version of some of these characters. It came out like 40 years after the comics began, and only covers a few of the characters to be in that team.

For me (and likely most people who get angry about race swapping), whether or not it's worth getting angry over comes down to apparent intent. If the casting seems to be due to the actor being well-known and excellent for the role, like Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury or some of your examples from The Boys, it's perfectly fine. If the intent seems to be introducing identity politics, like with Velma, the little Mermaid, and other infamous examples, then it serves as a red flag. This is exacerbated by just how commonly the people who engage in the latter behavior are hypocritical on the subject and engage in unironic racism. No idea about where Titans falls into this because I have no context for how they were promoting it. Just laying out my own thoughts on it. I included other people in this because it's what I observed about how people tend to react to this. You don't often see people complaining about Nick Fury's race.

Sipirutall succesor of Stan,a new character for the show. 13:03 I find it stupid. İnstead of raceswapping Gordon, why not just add Ethan Bennet from The Batman(2004)? He is the best friend of Bruce and works for the police. A fan fav character. He deffinetly would add a new extra dynamic for Bruce. A sociall dynamic would really work for the movie. He also later became Clayface in the show(than reformed). And it is confirmed that the villian of Batman 2 will be Clayface. How they missed this golden apportunity?! He would fit in to the movie right in. ALSO STARFİRE İS A GODDMAN ALİEN,NOT A HUMAN BEİGN. She suppose to be orange skin,it is in her lore! Why they just did not add orange paint to actor? The stupid part is that the Comic gave them an easy out by "NOT starting out with Trigon as the first Big Bad" hell even the CARTOON got that right by following the Comic! Slade was the team's first big bad, sent by HIVE to deal with them just like in the Comic and Trigon was BUILD UP as the BIGGEST Threat (that they had to pull "THE BROTHERHOOD OF FUCKING EVIL to be the Series Finale Threat because Trigon and Slade have been defeated, well Trigon was, Slade was "just hiding and biding his time") Raven was trying to STOP Trigon from using her to return and initially she was trying to warn the Justice League but went with reforming the Titans. Made easy by the fact the Team all just met up over a crisis INVOLVING Starfire (I prefered her original origin where she was a slave of her sister Blackfire when she made her escape, her sister's "associates" attempted to retrieve her and the resulting fight attracted everyone who made up the Team into helping her! This event later in the comics eventually brings Blackfire on them later, while I like the Show version of her, I prefer the Comic as Show version just comes off as a spoiled brat, where Comic version had layers to her, basically akin to Oceanmaster from Aquaman who had a ALOT of unresolved family tension they unfairly took out on their other sibling) Starting with Trigon REALLY ruins things because "You blew you're load too soon" as it would be like a Superman show that's first season ends with Darkseid as the big bad and then Season 2 is FUCKING LEX LUTHOR! OR Throwing Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Assassin at Batman in season 1 and then making Season 2 all about the Joker or worse Riddler/Scarecrow! I use Lex and Joker because they are the same level as Deathstroke/Slade in they ARE big threats, but frankly Lex PALES in threat level and scale then Darkseid, Joker is dangerous and deadly, but Ra's is BASICALLY an Ancient long lived "Batman Evil Self if he went down the wrong path" in charge of a HUGE Secret Society that has manipulated the path of mankind and responsible for ALOT of deaths for LIFETIMES! A "end result of Batman's own Superhero teams like the Bat Family and the Outsiders". So going from Trigon (which the comics HAVE established that he can be JUST as bad as FUCKING DARKSEID that even the League ESPECIALLY Superman would have difficulty defeating him just like threats of Darkseid's level) to Deathstroke (who can be a threat sure, but there's a REASON Lex and Joker have to form their OWN teams if they dare try to go up against Superhero Teams that matter! Yeah they can be a threat on their own to the Justice League, but that's IF they plan ahead and are READY for the League! Same with Deathstroke. It's still a DOWNGRADE in threat levels which is WHY you don't use them AFTER the big threat ALA "Darkseid/Ra's Al Ghul/Trigon; Those are the BIGGER BADS behind Big Bad's like Lex/Joker/Deathstroke, not the other way around) And of course the Power Changing was dumb. Starfire's made sense because like Superman, she's a Sun Battery (Though I don't remember if she is weaken at night, though I don't think she ever was early on! Star in this acts ALOT like how they tried to make her act in "Red Hood and the Outlaws" starting out before they realized that was stupid and that was not Starfire! Seriously that series got GOOD once Jason was able to get his OWN version of the Trinity with a "Superman/Bizarro" and "Wonder Woman/Artemis" like his "dear ole Papa Batman (Big fan of "Trinity" Stories centered around the Three as I'm a fan of the Big 3 the most, Batman Especially of course But I love me some good Superman and Wonder Woman stories)

@@williamdaviddiazcuchimaque7511To be fair to the Nolan Trilogy. The League and Ra's were first along with Scarecrow and the Mob because this was Batman Year 1 and it was to explain abit Bruce's training TO become Batman by attaching the League of Assassin's and Ra's to it! Joker was an escalation due to the fact Bruce was fighting someone who had no end goal he could truly fathom till the end! And it came back to the League of Shadows and Bruce paying the price for assuming with Ra's gone, they weren't a threat anymore, when they just waited, grew back and bided their time till as Bane said "Victory has defeated you!" As Bruce got TOO comfortable in "Peace" or wallowing in his failure to not DRAW with the Joker as Joker failed in his endgoal with the Boats to prove his point, but won with Harvey Dent becoming Two-Face and turning Bruce's "peaceful retirement as Batman" into a FRAGILE peace that was ALREADY on it's way to Gothem going right back to the state it was in upon his return in Batman Begins! Seeing how the Mayor was going to retire Gorden because he refuses to be LOOSE ONE BIT with ANY form of Corruption and we know Corruption only needs a TINY bit to grow HUGE! Which sadly makes sense when Order has had it's time in the sun for TOO long! Also proving Joker SLIGHTLY correct that INDEFINITE Peace with Order is impossible. Also funny enough Ra's and the League are SUPER WRONG with "their idea" of Sacrifice being the way to bring peace to the world (something that you can say also applies in the comics!) wouldn't work out well and comes off as "Killing everyone and letting GOD sort them out!" Though Talia is just as BAD as her comic book self because at least Ra's DID have goal for peace even if done ruthlessly! Where in Talia is "exactly the type of person that would be turned out from growing up with this mentality taught to her!" being the EXTREME of Ra's wishes and in the final movie. Doing his plan but BIGGER just to spite Gotham AND Bruce/Batman for Ra's death. Even if it that was on HIS inability to save himself as Bruce said "I'm not going to kill you, but I'm not going to save you either!" As Ra's had a point, if Bruce left him to die back then, the League's plans in the first movie would have failed or at least wouldn't have had Ra's at the wheel of it! "Who knows?" (Ironically Young Justice Vandel Savage is basically the "Ra's Al Ghul" of Chaos to Joker in that Joker just wants COMPLETE CHAOS while Vandel prefers CONTROLLED Chaos where Survival of the Fittest is in affect, hence one of his reason of hating the Justice League and Heroes in General, seeing them as "Meddlers" who make people DEPENDANT on them which looking at how Superman's city Metropolis is portrayed as sometimes relying on Superman TOO MUCH that they go into "too dumb to live" territory. He might have a point if he wasn't self-serving at times with that point cause at least COMIC Ra's can be seen as "insane" because of too many dips in the Pit over his immortality! While Vandel clings TOO heavily to a time period where he had a POINT but that has LONG passed where it doesn't fully apply and shouldn't)
