Yeah.... Clothes shopping... I am so poor I haven't bought but about 20 items of new clothes in 5 years. I thrift or trade. I chose to buy better shoes and bags though. And makeup. This was the mall of my childhood. My family would often get in the car on Friday night and make the trip from Sparta to La Crosse to eat at Chi Chi's or the Bonanza Steakhouse. Dad would hit up Sears for some tires, a chain saw, or a lawn mower and Mom would be up in the JCPennys shopping for whatever the fuck a modern 1980's married mother of two shopped for. Me and my brother would be like why fuck aren't we at showbiz pizza. oh the memories

I have been watching Dead Mall series from many KZreadrs for the last two days. When I search this mall on KZread my heart sank. I live in this area and I go to the mall often. I would hate to see the mall go after 30 plus years serving the La Crosse and the surrounding area. Now that Sean’s, Macy’s and Herberger’s are gone, I feel it’s only a matter of time. There was an article not too far back about giving the mall purpose. A lot of the ideas were to convert some empty spots into entertainment places or offices. I hope La Crosse can do something to help our mall stay here longer.

It amazes me that even La Crosse still has a Sears while Sears closed both locations they had in the Milwaukee area. They pulled out of the largest city in the state but yet kept almost everything else in Wisconsin sure that made a lot of sense. I wouldn't call this a dead mall either. Just becasue a mall has a few vacancies doesn't mean it's dead.

I was going to mention the sunken the rest areas but I see someone else already had. There have been a lot of changes to that mall since it opened. As a kid I loved the full sized McDonald's that used to be inside the mall. All the restaurants in the mall used to have their own seating Loosing Macy's had to have hurt them. The parent company of Herberger's is in serious financial trouble and Sears has been circling the drain for a decade. Without anchor stores malls like this are doomed
