WORD 😂
Was working at an Ames on 9/11/01. What a surreal day. Ended up staying with the company until the very end, when our store was closed and my manager and I were having pallet jack races around the empty building in early 2002. The company failed because they took on too much debt buying the Hills chain, and the CEO was a douche.

Hi Dan! My parents loved Ames, I grew up in Vermont but we would take day rides to New Hampshire. I will never forget an Ames we used to go to that was in a basement of a house. It had a plastic green awning as the entrance. U could see the pipes & in some places the pipes were dripping on the merchandise. The crazy thing was it was busy. Never understood why people would shop there. It was opened through the 1980s & closed around 1990's because they finally decided to build a real store. Yes it was open for many yrs. I think it was in New Hampshire. Just had to share. Thanks for this, I love the dead mall series. Brings back memories. I have to ask have u ever heard of Globe. This was along the lines of Ben Franklin & the five & dime stores. My grandmother loved Globe. I tried to find info but haven't found any. This store was open until 1990's. 😊🙂💛🧡
Props for being smart and wearing something to protect yourself from all that mold. It's so depressing seeing all these building materials and everything else left to just rot away
I literally live 10 minutes away from this disaster. The entire shopping complex didn't last very long. The entire shopping center has been abandon for more than a decade. I think the main problem with this area is, its next to a waste water treatment plant and some days the smell is quite ripe.
That line of cocaine in the employee video lmfao
WOW! Another amazing video Dan. I think that ATM machine is out of cash. It's amazing that thing is still beeping after all these years. Great job documenting this Ames store. Thanks for re-mastering these gems Dan!

That beeping was the security system. This footage was taken in 2015. The batteries finally died a couple years ago though.
Genius Dan the intro had me in stitches with your brilliant comedic talent. I thought the beeping sound was a horn i half imagined a circus clown 🤡 might come riding in on a unicycle 😳. Grim place reminded me of a set from the film Seven. Thanks for cheering me up and looking forward to the tour later!🌼☀️
Old Karin rapping ugh. Love it Daniel
Ahh Ames! I remember shopping there with my late grandpa. It was his FAVORITE store ajd only about 15-20 mins from his home. I’ll never forget when he found out they went bankrupt, he said “there will never be a store like this again, I can get so many things here that I would have to travel all over the state to get. This store has it all” I loved going to Ames with him, it’s one of many memories I will cherish forever, especially since I lost him way too soon ❤️❤️❤️
The breathing reminds me of the scene in Alien when they were exploring the derelict ship.

i felt like i was on that planet.
Wonderful sound editing in this one, love it!
I’ve heard from some word of mouth that the store is apparently going to finally be demolished towards the end of this year
Hello, I would recommend visiting the Concord Mall in Wilmington DE. I’ve witnessed it’s decline first hand.
I never had a bad purchase from Ames. A bit unfair to say purchases were missing parts.
I still have a set of four wooden tray tables I purchased at an Ames in Somerdale, NJ back in 2001.
Well goddamn, that lady got some flow tho
Classic fantastic video. Thank you Dan Bell.
I can only imagine the mold problems this place must have had...
I did an explore to this Ames in February of 2019 and was shocked to find the alarm was still beeping!
One of my favorite Dan Bell videos.
You need to visit the Steeplegate Mall in Concord, NH. I think there are 4 stores left.
Oh wow. This is awesome. I live a mile and a half from there in Essex. My grandparents used to take me there all the time and also to the food court there. There used to be a Ace hardware store that was also closed down. I’m commenting a lot of this without watching all of the video, but currently the lot is used on the weekends for the local residents to do like a swap meet/thrift sale time thing.
Awesome video
The... Poem? Riff? Rap? At the beginning? I don't know whether to laugh, cry or run in fear.
If you aren't piping in that music as a background, that is incredible that the system is still working after all this time.
