I have received a Dell laptop battery from one of our customer in dead condition. Customer said that the battery is not charging and when adapter is plugged out laptop goes OFF.
I have analyzed the battery status using our software and found one of the cell out of two cells have gone below the basic required voltage and that caused the controller chip to go dead.
Fortunately we can wake up the chip but for that we need to increase the voltage up to required value to initiate the wakeup procedure.
I have open the battery and tried to charge the cell and once it reached the required value, using the software I rewrite the BIOS and chip woke up.
After boosting the battery the battery was ready to work properly.
