Something that hits me different is the Unknown's lore: most Killers come to the Entity willingly (e.g. Deathslinger), or step into the Fog and just eventually surrender to the Entity's impulses (e.g. Legion). Pinhead basically comes to the Entity's Realm to take a break from his usual business. Because he didn't get pulled in here by the Entity, but by the Lament Configuration, he's exempt from all the usual rules, which is how he's able to drag Survivors to Hell in his mori. He just plays along because he finds it fun (presumably). But The Unknown? The Unknown was screwing around with a journalist who was investigating it, and defined it. Doing that invited The Unknown's attention, which is a death sentence. However, before The Unknown was able to land the killing blow, the Entity saw what was happening and *dragged* The Unknown, kicking and screaming, into the Fog. Not to spare the journalist of course, but because it wanted to make use of The Unknown in it's own realm. The Unknown didn't want to come here. It wanted to stay in it's own world, tormenting and killing those who dared to investigate and define it. But it's here anyway. And that means it's possibly the most pissed off of *all* the Killers. "I will not be denied my happiness."

@@estrelaplatinada6506 Oni is pissed against the entity too, in his map description, The Sanctum of Wrath, it is said that the Entity has changed and twisted a shrine that the Oni revered, making him angrier than he already was, and I don't suppose he's thankful for what the Entity has done to him either, Unkown might be revolted that he was taken without consent or something like that, but Oni is on a different level. Also, even though his anger can be beneficial to him, in a way in the trials, doesn't mean that he likes what he's doing, or that he likes being angry 90% of the time, in terms of comparison, Oni is the most pissed dude, at the trials, at the survivors, at the Entity, and at the realm.

For all the people complaining about it being a washing machine, this is the first killer that actually works with it and isn’t meant to be epic or goofy, it’s meant to be scary, it’s meant to be creepy and it works with that cryptid vibe

@@MrMegakeke1999 Just because it sounds more interesting, doesn't mean it's not painful to listen to for a long chase. Use common sense. It's completely possible to make chase themes that are both intimidating and don't cause physical pain, for example Spirit's theme. Also, even if a chase theme sounds scary, it'll no longer be frightening by the tenth time you go against a Killer.

Layer 2 fits so much with The Unknown. It's as if this horrid monster does not fully understand how the human body works and its raggedy body is struggling to let out a breath. Layer 4 kinda doubles down on this and now the monster is furiously breathing down like a raging beast but you can also hear some kind of muddled echoed voice in the background calling to you, trying to deceive you to turn around and look back.

The thing people need to understand about the quote "dishwasher" chase musics is that. The other ones felt like noise for the sake of noise. This one, doctor's, and singularity's(arguably) all feel like the noises they invoke feel very intentional and well thought out. Also, this one isn't an earpiercing track to begin with. I quite like it, actually.

I agree, I hate when we get really good potential with PTB tracks and then due to people not immediately vibing with the theme the composer gives us something completely different and we lose out on the potential of tweaking the first iteration a bit

This chase music is interesting because it's probably the first chase music where the second layer has a hard-to-follow melody, but it's not a super easy repetitive drum track. It's like a bass of actual music with creepy periodic noises. Then it builds up in a very intense, pressing way. It's very unusual. Much more worked than some of those "washing machine" songs we got in the past (GF, Hag, SM, Singularity, etc.) and the very fleshed out/"melodic" terror radius (Wesker, Xeno, Chucky)

This chase theme is very well done, it’s fits perfectly with how eerie it is. It invokes the thought of something that is not meant to be here, not meant to be alive, yet somehow it is, and it’s chasing you from within the skin of another human, but despite that, it looks as tho it’s merely wearing to hide whatever’s inside. And what’s inside is well… unknown.

this is probably just me but this chase music feels wrong, in a good way, like you have seen something you should not have. this really fits the killer too well.

Layer 1 to 3 are the best and fit this killer, seeing as how it's being depicted as an unknown uncanny creature. Layer 4 just needs to have a bit more work done on it just so that it sounds a bit more intense while also sounding unsettling like the other 3 layers.

I love it! Really gives off more of an unsettling "this ain't right" vibe rather than OOGA BOOGA! Layer 1 really gives the creeps....

Anytime a song isnt "musical" enough, people immediately jump on the hate wagon. I hope this stays as-is. I love the incorporation of grinding, metallic groans like old machinery of a rusty barge, the scraping and the bizarre chase sequence.

I can't explain just how *good* the Unknown's music is in terms of representing it, but I'm going to try because this is my hyperfixation at the moment lmao - Layer 1 feels like the unease someone would feel seeing an inhuman shape a good distance away from them. It's ambient, unsettling, and vague. You get no information from it. - Layer 2 is really good at mimicking the walking animation of the Unknown. It's jerky, yet it feels like it's dragging. Like how when the Unknown walks, it twitches sporadically, but also drags its feet kinda. It fills you with a feeling of dread. - Layer 3 is really tense, like "oh shit it's coming closer". The sharp, constant sounds on top of the ambient music really get your heart pumping and you're on the edge of your seat, ready to run. - The chase theme itself is really good at capturing both the intensity of layer 3 with the snare-like drilling, while still incorporating the way the Unknown moves with the dragging, rough sounds from layer 2.

This is the first DBD song that I've ever came back to listen to on repeat. There's this sinister aura flourishing throughout this melody. The strings feel somber, yet makes you feel uneasy. Then, in phase 4, all of the cacophony that was built up comes exploding with an anxiety inducing synth and drum kit. This is my favorite killer song for sure. I can't wait for this killer in March.

The people who hate this a r people who expect it to sound like a my little pony intro. I feel the anxiety more and more each meter, 16 meters with that eerie sound. Idk what it is but it definitely works! Like he’s literally named “The Unknown” and he looks distorted asf. The music sounds so good!

What if that's the point on a philosophical note? The Unknown is missing something too right? It makes you beg for a finish that will never come.

you wouldn't be hearing it at all if it was lights out, silly.

i genuinely think this is a really good chase theme, the spooky and eerie vibe fits him so well, and i like how it's kind of got a similar thing with deathslinger, where they incorporate the other sounds and notes used in the previous layers to make it sound less repetitive, and while i wouldn't say it's one of the best, it definitely is up there for me in one of the better chase songs

It's not bad. I just wish there'd be some short string stings added here and there to add a bit more creepiness to it.

I see all these people complaining of others complaining about it being annoying, but I can’t see anyone calling it annoying to begin with. 💀

Layer 2 is the best by far, and I love how it's incorporated into layer 4 for the final chase!

Ok so people always say Washing Machine like a bunch of 5 year olds who don't understand how music layering works. Yes, there is a repeated cycle going at the same bpm throughout the chase music, but there are many many layers going at the exact same time, adding depth to it. Michel Is a fantastic composer, who adds character to the chase music, like this one.
