Hi Alex - Is this because the insert in the wooden door slightly warps over time? I've had this problem in two NYC brownstones and can't figure it out!

Hello Jewel . Doors expand in the summer and contract in the winter. And it never comes back to how it was before. Also houses are continuously moving. We don't feel it but they do....If it gets wet then I warps. So ...... yea... there is always something. Good luck.

I have the opposite problem, or rather, a problem inside the lock itself. The deadbolt doesn't want to go all the way into the door. I've tried it with the door ajar, and saw that it only goes half-way. Then you can push it all the way with your finger. So yeah, I've been using the back door to get inside the house! :P (update: spraying the silicone spray on the bolt, keyhole, and into the crevice around the knob seems to have fix the problem. At least for now)

Check the hole where the deadbolt goes into. Sometimes if the hole isn’t deep enough the deadbolt won’t go all the way in

@@derickmercado5903 Still OK after a month. The silicone spray worked great. But the lock itself is actually assembled from a closet lock... so... we'll see. Thanks for the reply!!!!
