DEAD BODY SCARE While Exploring ABANDONED Military Vehicles Nevada

While exploring old abandoned military vehicles abandoned in the middle of nowhere, Nevada, we experience what we call a dead body scare. We thought we had stumbled upon a dead body in the middle of nowhere.
On this urban exploration adventure we take you to a very desolate place littered with abandoned military vehicles such as APC's, Tanks, and more!
Come along as we explore some abandoned buildings and abandoned military vehicles.
I apologize for the camera wobble in some parts of the video. The wind caused a lot of problems for the camera stabilizer.

    The "tank" is an Armored Personnel Vehicle, referred to as a M113 A3 and some were still in the US inventory as late as 2005, Iraq. The seat/stand behind the driver's station is the TC's position. He usually commands the track and provides driving cues for the driver. The M113 was eventually replaced by the Bradley (M2). The inverted chevron markings were initially adopted during the first Gulf War, circa 1991. These abandoned vehicles are not that old. We repurpose decommissioned vehicles, if not sold in government auctions, as targets for live fire trainning for ant-tank weapons, crew served weapons to artillery. The first track looks like one used by 11C's, mortar crew. The second track is a troop carrier. Check the bumper markings on the duece if it is still legible since that will tell you who these vehicles belong to. The stencilling on the second APC says HQ..., which indicates that these tracks belonged to a Headquarters Headquarters Company, HHC or Headquarters Headquarters Troop, HHT. The unit this track belongs to should be painted on the left side of the track below the left rear light/lamp. If there is another track there with an "extended roof" , that's a command track, M577. These APC's were really fun to "drive".

    @billy b , Really great information! The only bit that was incorrect was the part about the M113 platform being decommissioned from the Army in 2005. The Army no longer uses the M113 Infantry Carrier for the job that it was originally designed for as the M2 Bradly Fighting Vehicle heavily out-guns and out-performs the M113. However, the M106 Mortar Carrier (First vehicle shown in the video) is still in active service across the Army. Other variants of the M113 are still used in the Army as well. The unit I am currently in uses re-purposed M113 Infantry Carriers for Medic and Command tracks. The Medic track has the seats removed in order for it to hold litters, or stretchers and the Command track has seats on one side removed to add additional radio and GPS equipment. Overall, the M113 is a beautifully designed platform that is so versatile that variants of them can still be seen in active service today, more than 50 years after its original introduction into the U.S. Military.

    We still had a buttload of 113 as late as 2007 at my unit in Baumholder Germany. Almost all of them were still used. Mostly to tow other stuff around. Of course your garden variety M113 would be outgunned. Considering mounting anything larger than a 50 would be pretty much useless. Our mortars still used these tracks for their purpose. Driving them would be the only decent job of the crew. The rest of the seats are rock hard, too low sitting, and at least the driver could pop the hatch and get relief from the stifling heat. I swear in all the tracked vehicles I've ever ridin in, this thing probably felt the most like a self contained oven. 88s aren't much better, but personally, I think they had a slight edge

    What we have here is clearly a military training site. I recall my time as an Army Engineer, we did this stuff all the time. We would go out, build mock buildings, and drag old vehicle out that were decommissioned, and the higher ups would mock up a situation for training. You have an M113A1 APC (Armored Personell Carrier) which we referred to as the squad coffin because of the lack of armor and the positions that we were placed in during battle, and an old "duece and a half" flatbed. Those mystery shift trannys were a bitch. That's what you've stumbled upon, and old training site, and by the looks of it, a hostage situation was the main focus.

  • @kenmorashade7943

    Explore With Us they disabled the others differently i bet. by disabling them is different ways, it make it harder to change parts between them. secondly, the belts in the other vehicles may not work on that one as the engine in the one that still had the belts look different too.

  • @ExploreWithUs

    @ExploreWithUs

    8 жыл бұрын

    One could just take the belts off the one they left the belts on. They are the same vehicle, so chances are they have the same engines. In addition, someone also removed seats and other items from the vehicles and just tossed them next to the vehicle. I doubt the military would do that to disable the vehicles or for any other reason. That's the work of a vandal. And why leave the cut off belts sitting on the ground so one could go to the local auto parts store and find a belt that would work in its place? Most of the time when the military has a protocol for disabling a vehicle, they follow the protocol for each vehicle. I still think vandals are the ones who cut the belts and tore out the seats.

    You can easily find a belt of almost any size at the auto parts store. There are so many different sizes and types in production, and if we knew what engine they used (which most likely is some standard diesel engine), it woud be easy to find the part. There are a lot of people who restore vehicles like this, I am sure they have to be able to find the parts somewhere. But why would they make it even easier by leaving the belts sitting on the floor? I bet one could quickly find a match for the belts at their local Napa auto parts.

    yep! Its a M106 MC and a M113 APC respectively. The M106 carried a 104mm mortar on that elevated circular base and the. M113 has a nice sun roof for good weather, but sucks when it rains. I spent my first summer in Germany riding in the rear of one of these. The benches in the 113 make a nice place to take a nap.

    First spots look like a artillery emplacement, the red building is more than likely the ammo point - you see similar buildings on basically every military range, this would make since the emplacements are near by. The thick windows are to protect against schrapnel. You should be careful around this area as there could be a chance of running across UXO (unexploded ordinance). Most of the time these ranges are wayyyyyyy off limits, but it may be realitivaly safe considering you did not come across any warnings when entering. Cool stuff though.

  • @cougar10ag
    @cougar10ag7 жыл бұрын

    that red building is most likely an ammo supply point used at training ranges to keep track of and distribute ammo... all the metal shutters is something the military does with training buildings due to the fact that during training, flashbangs and other explosive simulators are used. regular windows would obviously shatter and plywood would not last long in the elements. and the building structure needs to be mostly fire resistant as well as contain any fragments from explosive devices, hence the brick construction. the shutters are used because sometimes in training you dont want a window to be in play. so you close them and it blocks all light. that building would not be used for live fire training either. so all the hole you see are from people finding the place and shooting it up.

    @Explore With Us The two tracked military vehicles are variants of the M113 Armored Personnel Carrier. The first one that he goes into is a M106 Mortar Carrier. The 120mm mortar tube (Removed from the vehicle shown) could be un folded to a position where it would fire mortar rounds through the large two hatches in the ceiling. The second tracked vehicle is a generic M113 Infantry Carrier. These variants of vehicles are extremely reliable and are still in active service in the military. Judging by what the video shows, these vehicles are still in good condition and could be repaired to working order. Notice the tan painted sections on the fenders of the vehicles. This area is where military units would paint identification numbers on the vehicles, the left (drivers) side would be the unit the vehicle belonged to and the right (passenger) side would be the vehicles specific identification number. (HQ 984 on the second tracked vehicle). Hope this information is helpful!

    The vehicles next to both sides of the truck are just M113s, one type of a basic armored vehicle. Used for transporting troops, ammo, mortars, etc. and light combat. I thought they were SRMVs (short range missile vehicles) from a distance but realized that was a mistake when you got closer. And the paint job is from the Vietnam era.

    Some military tires actually have a solid core in addition to air, so when they go flat, they don't look flat. They're designed to be drivable even if there's catastrophic pressure failure, such as a mine, ied or other intentional hazards on the roads. Can't very well pull over in the heat of battle to change a tire. That's not all tires though, but I do feel like the back tires on the deuce and a halves were solid core. I could be remembering incorrectly.

The vehicles aren't very old. The personal carriers, the tracked vehicles, are US Army. I don't remember what they're called, but you set up a mortar in the back and fire from inside. The 7 ton, truck, were stopped being used not too long ago. I say these are between late 90s to early 2000s. It was a mortar range.

    @Explpore With Us In the first set of vehicles those two were M106 Mortar Carriers which is apart of the M113 APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier's) family which started it's use with the Us. Army in Vietnam and is still used today, The hatch on the floor in the back of that first M106 is were the mortar system would've been and the hatch above in the ceiling is what was opened for it to be fired. In which case the M106 could of once held a M30 (107mm mortar). The second vehicle appeas to be some sort of M35 half duece which was also used during the Vietnam war and up. The other armoured vehicle after the half diuece is a M113 APC which is used toltol transport men and infantry units. By the looksmof the bullet holes in the building windows and the way the vehicles were placed it looks like it may have been some sort of gaining facility, although it could've just been vandalis!

    the tracks are apc (authorized personell carriers) one with the bench seats was a troop carrier, the other one with the pedistal in the middle of the floor and the missle racks was one of two things, a tow dragon surface to air missle launcher, or a shill guided missle system. the truck is a m818 5 ton truck made by the am general company older out dated stuff from the early 70s to late 80s

    You have two M113's one in the APC configuration and one in the Mobile Mortar config, the mount in the floor is for the fixed mortar that can be rotated and the racks were to store the shells. They were most widely used in Vietnam.
