The war on drugs also refers to “war” inside the justice system. This mission to end drug use in this state has lead to thousands of people being senselessly incarcerated. It’s war on the lower class. It’s much deeper than what this man physically did in Columbia. So I believe it is you sir who misunderstands the term “war on drugs”. It also refers to when a man gets a three strike penalty for a joint and gets life in prison.

All the protection he had and all the people u had to get thru to get to him.. think of the sleepless nights the officers had just because of this one powerful guy that can’t seem to get caught. Once he was captured it was almost like a sign of relief. That picture was thier reward from how much work they had to put it to get there.

It’s actually sad how even to this day many people will idolize Pablo and the likes instead of Steve Murphy and people like him who dedicate their lives to catch criminals. They are the true heroes and often nobody will even know their names. I’m the first one to admit that everything narcos related was always an interesting and intriguing topic to me. But I never idolized drug dealers.

How about legalizing and regulating drugs so the supply is not run by criminals and disputes would get solved in court not in street violence. Also the quality could be regulated so the health risk would be lower cause the drugs are clean. Most drug users have a healthy relationship to drugs and people who haven’t aren’t helped by getting marginalized in the society. Addiction is a health issue not a crime. People ARE always going to consume drugs it has always been the case and the war on drugs awell as the alcohol prohibition have shown that criminalization isnot effective at reducing drug use. Country’s like Portugal have decriminalized all drugs and drug use went down there.
