I've always thought that a Pantera with a cammed V8 was an optimal blend of beauty and muscle. This one is particularly gorgeous.

ford power lacks what a SB Chevrolet would give this car..however you are so correct. a blend of Italian styling and American engine creates a great combo.

Van Thorpe a SB Chevy is more powerful than a 351 Cleveland? Idk man. We put a 351C in my brothers ‘77 F100 and smoked our fair share of SB Chevys.

Van Thorpe A factory small-block Chev would have to be pretty special ('70 LT1, etc.) to make more power than a good factory Cleveland, but they're smaller, lighter, more reliable, have a near-infinite aftermarket, and all that might make them a better candidate for Pantera swaps. Pretty evenly matched, in my opinion. An LS, however... I know, I know, but they're king of the hill for a LOT of REALLY good reasons. A built LS3 in a Pantera would be AMAZING. I hate to say it, though, (I'm a GM guy) but the new 5.0 GT350 engine would probably be the ultimate Pantera swap. American yet exotic, flat-plane, super-high-revving, light (though bulky), and true to its roots, built by Ford.

Same here!. In 73 I was driving a 68 Camaro convertible and had decided to try & make a deal for a red Pantera at a local dealer. On the way, I stopped to fill the tank in the Camaro, and when I drove off it barely ran. A valve lifter was doing something weird. I limped home, and the next day it ran fine. In fact I drove it another 200k miles. The Pantera had been sold too. Now I don't believe my car had a conscience, but it sure felt like it was telling me, "Don't you dare trade me in". It worked out well, as I owned that car for 20 years. Sure do have regrets about not buying a Pantera, but the Camaro gave me so many great memories!

@tradde11 I know all that but I'd still love to have the money to have one parked in the garage so I could go out with a cold one and look at it. Its only my opinion, but I can't think of a single Ferrari that is better looking than the Pantera or GT40.

The Pantera has been my fantasy car every since it appeared in the car magazines. I had seen only two of them on the road in 45 years of car watching when I discovered one at a car show in Battle Creek, MI. Chatted up the owner that turned out to be an acquaintance of my son and was offered a chance to SIT IN THE DRIVERS SEAT!. So, I attempted to fit my 5'6" 230 lbs. 60 year old body in that seat. No way was it going to happen. So I tried the passenger seat. I almost made it, but then realized I would need to reverse that action, and wasn't entirely sure I could get back out. The owner was maybe 35, about 5'10" and about 175 lbs. He admitted that even he found it difficult to get in and out and didn't drive the car too far because the seating was so tight. I still think they are great cars. But I think I'm better off looking at them than trying to own one for my own pleasure.

The Pantera 351 4v Cleveland motor was outlawed for racing in the NASCAR series. 2.08 valves in the 351 Cleveland 2v,NASCAR approved, the 4v had 2.19 valves the size of a big block engine. NASCAR outlawed the motor, it made too much horsepower and competitors complained. The Pantera in this video has after market aluminum heads. Notice the top of the valves covers, they run flat like the top of the air cleaner. All other engine run slanted like the 351 Windsor motors. True give away of the Cleveland motor. Semi Hemi type engine, with the valves were canted. The Cleveland was made here in America 4 years, 1970-1974, but continued with Ford in Australia, much longer.

That’s really cool. I really think I could handle one of these. See my self grinning, letting out the clutch. A bit grabby, cam unhappy - just wants to hit it. Fresh start. It starts up, not cleanly, but blows blue and black at a 45 degree upwards out the back, when it hits. With good velocity - that’s cool. Anything else shoot exhaust like that? Man - sounds good, that cam is healthy. Wonder how much pony. Title says burnout, let’s see it. He jumps it, and gets a little sideways, lifts, and then a poke. Dang. Pulling my heart strings. Well for one's dream souped up Pantera, one can have custom made camshaft or pistons just like Yenko guys do to their Camaros, improved performance huh?? Well we need to extinguish sun temperature from engine too which will require all the possible effort to fit efficient radiator, Penske racing spring.. If you want to have fun with this car then don't extend beautiful pointy shape body by extending its body from beneath or from fenders! You will get to know the importance of its body design if you see how it was stolen and taken in Fast 5..
