Vincent Verelst is passionately fond of Modernistic Architecture. Along this series of nine videos is he looking for the architects’ motivations. With Vincent, we can visit some of most important architects’ private houses who each in their own way give personal interpretations to Modernistic Architecture.
The beginning of the 20th century saw the birth of Modernistic Architecture; Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius: these architects soon conquered the world stage. But here too in Belgium appeared between the gabble roofs modernistic houses with international looks, on behalf of architects such as Willy Van Der Meeren, Lucien Engels, Renaat Braem and Peter Callebout and others.
The present inhabitants lead Vincent through their houses. Jos Vandenbreeden, director of the Sint Lukas archives in Brussels, completes the story with his expert explanations. During nine episodes, we watch Vincent with today’s inhabitants and Jos Vandenbreeden’s help, discover against which details the architects react but mostly where their creative inspiration comes from.
