Update: sorry I have not been able to create a tutorial on this video. The reason is because I was using an outdated macOS on my now retired laptop during the time which allowed me to use the now no longer driver-supported SL3 interface. The trick in a nutshell is, I used macOS’s audio/midi setup to aggregate the FLX6 and the SL3 as a single virtual interface. This allowed me to access it within rekordbox’s audio configuration, which further allowed me to assign the phono inputs for the timecode signal. Because driver support was discontinued for the SL3 by the manufacturer, I cannot use it on my newer laptop running a modern macOS like Monterey or Ventura. You might ask if this is possible with the Pioneer DJ INTERFACE 2, and unfortunately it is not. The reason is because unlike the SL3, the INTERFACE 2 is natively supported by rekordbox and will cause a handshake conflixt between the FLX6 and the interface. I’m doing some further research to see if we can find a solution. It may be the case we need to add phono preamps to a regular line level interface.

Connect the 2 turntables into a hub (the interface 2 of Pioneer) Connect the hub into the computer. Connect the FLX6 into a different slot of the computer. Run rekordbox and choose the Line 3 and 4 for each turntable. Am I right ? 😉

I use Dante virtual sound card and a Dante network interface with Virtual DJ and have had great results. I use Dante the way you would use rewire. I send the output of Ableton live into the input of Deck 3 of the flx6 and sync with Ableton link. Virtual DJ is really very powerful

You can do that with any audio interface with two stereo phono inputs (or two interfaces, each one with one input). If there is no phono input in the interface/s (just line input), just get phono preamp/s to convert phono to line signals. He used a Rane SL3 (he said that in other comment, check it at 1:01 over the controller), but anyone should be ok. The only thing you need is having your DDJ flx6 connected (because without Hardware unlock devices or paid plan, Rekordbox won't work)

I haven't seen the controller but there should phono inputs for each channel. Use the RCAs from each turntable and plug into the phono slots for your desired channel.

should be channel 1,2,3,4 inputs on thr back which will take quarter inch or rca. run either cable from the turntable into either desired input mentioned and you should be game

I vote DDJ-FLX6 + Pioneer Interface 2 (DVS interface) Or running both RBX and Serato at the same time, which would still require a Serato DVS interface.

Option 1, but with a Rane SL3 instead of Interface 2 (he said that in another comment). Seems there is no need to use _all_ Pioneer devices, only a "Device Unlock" one will be ok (the controller in this case)

Not used here, but rp 7000 and 8000 from reloop and re serato compatible imo. Cheaper than nd better than the plx1000

With an external audio interface, I guess. Check, for example, at 1:01: you'll see a Rane SL-3 in front of the controller, with its two inputs plugged (they should be the turntables). Then, he may routed the SL-3 inputs in Rekordbox to virtual decks 3 and 4, and _voilà_ !

But that controller doesn't unlock DVS (according to the hardware-unlock list), so I don't know if he had connected another device as well not shown in the video (like a DDJ-XP1 or XP2, hardware-unlock devices with DVS), had a paid plan or if he used an older version of Rekordbox that allows that setup...

I understand he plugged the turntables into the interface inputs (the same way you would do it with Serato with that Rane SL3, or Pioneer DJ Interface 2, MixVibes U-Mix44, etc.) and re-routed those inputs to virtual decks 3 & 4 in Rekordbox (and activate DVS mode on them, of course)

I didn't purchase any device. I used an old Serato SL3 and aggregated it with the sound card of the FLX6.

Always direct drive. I don’t even think DJ manufacturers produce belt drives anymore if I’m not mistaken.

Used an old Serato SL3 box aggregated the SL3 and FLX6 on the Mac to read as a single audio device in rekordbox. This allowed me to pull up the phono inputs of the SL3. This is only possible with pre-Big Sur OS since the SL3 is no longer supported. However you can do it with a Native Instruments DJ interface.

Quick question, I’m using rekordbox with ddj 800 and wondering why it’s fine without controller but when I plug it in, the software seems to get laggy and glitchy. Thanks for any input

My untested theory is, I think the DDJ-200 can only control the primary decks, while the DDJ-FLX6 can control all decks. The reason is because the DDJ-200 does not have a deck switch button. That's important in controlling decks 3 and 4. Only the DDJ-FLX6 has them between the two controllers.

Hey PJ, how did you do this setup to run all 4 decks independently? Is that an interface and if so is that the solution?

I used an SL3 interface, aggregated the FLX6 and the SL3 together on the Mac, and selected the aggregated audio device in rekordbox.

@@charlesmcdonald345 it cannot be done in Serato. Serato does not allow you to reallocate the audio devices. It may be the only DJ software without that option.
