Smart thinking. In this case you are right. It had to be something from the fuel rail and on. Il get you on the next one.

Lube finder is not a good brand to use for your filters. I lost a whole week of work to figure this out.

It’s called Prime fuel system crank it’s happens after oil change or filters.

I would check the tie rods make sure they have enough play and the the clutch brake to ensure the spring are still in place.

Not enough fuel pressure

Low voltage to ECM will make a engine run like garbage. I had a mack MP7 that sounded just like a rod knock. It had a master disconnect switch. One of the lugs was corroded so I replaced it and truck ran fine. Couple hours later it started running like garbage. Hit the switch with a hammer and it broke in 2, the inside was full of corrosion and when I changed the lug it must of turned the stud allowing better contact for a short period. No codes, no electronic malfunction light on. For real make sure all battery connections are clean and you got good voltage out of those batterys

That kinda Sounds like rod knock to me. I work on Navistar A26 engines, the parent engine for the maxxforce 11/13. Navistar issued a huge recall for over 10,000 engines having connecting rod defects that can potentially and will blow engines up. It will also inturn cause preignition and melt valves from different cylinders. That's just A26. Detroits idk much of. Could be numerous causes. If you got no faults, I would suspect something with the base engine be my guess 🙃 I'd be curious what it is.

You must be super busy everyday. Those navistar eng's are such a pain and have so many issues. I get some detroits like that made on mondays with rod failure..Sleepy factory workiers. No faults on this particular issue. Engine stars and dies out. No knocking going on and even with a primer hooked up it wont stay running. Another hint. Fuel rail has plenty of pressure.

Check the tire for low air, I think that’s the problem 😂😂😂😂 lol

That a pretty good guess. That will cause an extended crank no start condition. In this cause the injectors failed and are causing the same concern.

I’m glad some of these videos worked out for you. And then there’s quite a few of them on here. If you ever need some good work done I’m over at a dealer in AZ. But sadly it comes with a dealers price tag.

Right now one of my trucks have a bad scr box and the freightliner here in Dallas is trying to charge over 18k for repairs but I really don't want to pay that much especially know how easy it is to replace. Where they have you by the balls is the computer and software in which I don't have to update everything once it's complete. Do you have any recommendations on good ddl software?

Im having similar issue.when my dd15 sits for an hour it will crank but not start.however there is no pinging noise at all.the truck fuel rail does not hold fuel pressure and im thinking this could be a high pressure pump issue.

Seems like you Deff have a fuel issue. Either fuel bleeding down from the rail or system sucking air from before your filters.

Usually all 6 injectors don’t go bad all at once. I’ve seen small fuel leaks make these dd15 engines run like crap, they seem to be very sensitive to aeration. Then I’d change filters. Could also be egr or dpf system completely clogged up too, curious to know what yours ended up being!

Pretty good guess man. Clogged up aftertreatment will Deff cause rough running and dieing out concerns. This particular issue was caused by faulty injectors. They just quit after an air pocket went wrong.

@@ronniestevens2545 great question, this can be an air pocket in the cooling system or the fuel system. If in the cooling system than it has the potential to create bubbles in the system when filling the system and pop in the EGR cooler causing failure cracking the tubes. If in the fuel system this occurrs when low on fuel and sloshing around the tank or when changing filters. The Bubbles could go to the fuel pump or any of the check valves or injectors and pop causing damage to small metal components. In this cause they went to the injectors and broke the contacts inside and they no longer fire. Hope that clears some things up. And don’t forget these vids can make great holiday presents.

Injectors said screw life and gave up on life.

I got a tricky one so i have a 09 shakeliner century with a dd15 on i performed the oil change fuel filters etc right after that the truck didn't start at all any recommendations on what it could be ?

Sounds like you just have a air pocket in the fuel system. If it cranks and does not start than it’s fuel related and needs to be primed. If it doesn’t crank at all and just clunks. Than you have an oil pressure problem and probably seized your motor.

@@sircarlosbarra6733 well than one of two possibilities. Either the batteries really are dead and just needs a charge or jump. Or. That oil system is sucking Air and seized the motor. You can go down to the flywheel opening under the trans and see if it turns with a pry bar.

How did you end up knowing it was a bad injector? What was your procedure to finding that out? Also, how would I test if the fuel pump is working correctly?

Man that is the question I’ve been waiting for. I’m glad you asked. So with this a computer is your best friend. I’d look at fuel compensation pressure than fuel rail pressure. If my comp pressure was above 80 I know my fuel pump is working fine. If my fuel rail pressure is above 6 bar I know fuel is getting to the rail. After that the only thing not allowing it to start is the injectors. These sensors really are there to help with diag and most people hate them. But I hope that cleared some things up.

I’m a diesel tech in a company that doesn’t work on in depth jobs, however I’ve been doing lots of research so in the future I put it to use somewhere else or even get the company to allow us to work on heavier jobs. @@tbren9341 Great question, so I believe you have two separate issues. Those bolts being loose won’t cause aeration. But will cause an oil leak. The pinging sound is caused by a fuel pump starting to come apart. I’d check your fuel tanks for any metal than check your filters for any shiny metal flakes. It may be time to replace that pump. Earlier the better to prevent a very $$$$ repair.

Good guess but if it’s an oil pressure issue than the Eng would most likely not turn due to a damaged crank. Try again or accept the 20 push ups.

@@johnstauffer4659 a fuel filter plugging or sucking will make this engine stumble and cause starting issues so good quick thinking there. Final issue was injectors failed, enough fuel pressure was being sent and engine stumbled when the inj failed to fire.

Pretty good guess. A faulty check valve in the fuel rail or the at the pump will cause this issue as well. In this case issue came down to injectors stuck.
