    I've only used my DD 3×3 on short an long trips. I honestly loves it as long as you've got a decent sleeping system you should be fine. I was caught in 2 days of rain with the tarp tent set up and was bone dry. Great video thanks new sub 🤙🏕

    I still use those black guylines that came with it for several things. I have bowline loops on the ends. Bowline on one end and the loop & sliding buckle on the other end. The bowline loops work without even having to use toggles along with the tarp webbing loops. I also never have to untie those guyline bowline knots.

    I'm sure you know this already but... Tarp down on the ground just larger than your tent footprint, leaf litter on top, tent on top of that. Good insulation and protects tent floor as well as making you a wee mattress effect.

    I've tried to use other tarps, I always wind up coming back to the flexibility, space, ease of use and familiarity of my DD-3x3. It just does everything I need. I'll invest in a down sleeping bag in order to have space in my ruck for my DD-3x3.

    Most trekking poles extend to 135cm. Some extend to 145cm. The 135cm pole is just sufficient, but the 145cm pole would be better (although they're hard to obtain).

    Do you think that setup would work with the DD XL Tarp?

  • @ddhammocks2418

    @ddhammocks2418

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Darren, the set-up works with the Tarp XL, it will just have a longer "tail" if that makes sense. So, if you use one of the 3m sides for the opening then it will work - some people use an additional Hiking Pole in the back half of the shelter to prop up the lengthened roof some more.

  • @ddhammocks2418

    @ddhammocks2418

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your question. Not necessarily - it does depend on ground and environment conditions. Of course in the case of wet ground we would recommend using a groundsheet of some kind (perhaps integrated into the set-up itself!) and for insect protection, one of our SuperLight Mesh Tents for example would be a good idea. This is a good set-up for insect-free conditions though, and depending on the placement of your tarp you can stay very well sheltered :)

    You could be much faster, if this is your favourite setup, like mine. By keeping your strings tied, e.g., it weighs nothing more. This setup is ok for three persons. Within the three minutes, you could use your second stick to raise the back side - if there were more than you.
