    I believe you can also pre-set the TOO bombs with the ATFLIR. You don't need to aim, pickle, aim, pickle, etc... You can actually aim, TDC depress, step to next station, aim, TDC depress, etc. That will save each coordinate to that station's bomb. Then you can drop them all at once, and get all the bombs hit about the same time (as long as the targets are close together).

    Entering the heading can be very useful if you want the bomb to avoid overflying something. For example, over a populated town, you might want the JDAM to come over from a specific direction to avoid overflying a residential area, as if the bomb falls short for any reason, then it doesn't risk hitting someone's house. For the same reason, it's standard practice not to release ordnance anywhere where it would overfly friendly positions, as there is always a chance of something going wrong and the bomb or missile falling short. Moreover for new viewers, as of the latest update you don't need DCS scratchpad to have those coordinates up like that. You can just left alt+click on your target point on the f10 map, and it will bring up the same thing for you (wow, ED actually implemented a QoL feature!).

  • @TorniQuetHD

    @TorniQuetHD

    2 жыл бұрын

    As far is I know you can only have one target in TOO as the GPS coords are linked to the TPOD so as soon as you move it it updates the position for the next bomb. The work around would be to find a target, make it a mark point… rinse and repeat for all targets and then target designate on a mark point and drop a bomb, cycle to next mark point and repeat until all mark points have been pickled on 💪🏻

    Are markpoints working again? A few months ago after an update there was an issue with markpoints. You were able to create the markpoints but when you “uploaded” them to the bombs as you entered the last one, they get all erased. I don’t know if it’s still happening or not, I’ll try next week…

    You can't program to all 8 bombs TOO gps coordinates to drop them 8 simultaneously right? You have to drop 4 first then switch the mission to T002 for the other 4 GPS coordinates?

    Is there a way to use point track mode like in the A-10Cii?

  • @chrisvanegmond3157
    @chrisvanegmond31572 жыл бұрын

    Thanks, super useful guide! Sorry, bunch of questions about pre-planned mode. You enter 4 coordinates for 4 stations. Which of those coordinates does the HMD determine your min/max range and zone cone on? If they are close enough to each other that probably doesn't really matter, but what if you've set these coordinates to wildly varying locations, so one target might not be in range when another one is? My assumption was the HMD cone and HUD target dot are the ones corresponding with the station that you have currently selected, but then if you hold the pickle button, it will still drop all 4 bombs. Or does it just cycle to the other 3 stations while you hold pickle, and it drops all of them as each time it cycles, the next coordinates are in zone as well?

  • @TorniQuetHD

    @TorniQuetHD

    2 жыл бұрын

    Good question mate and I don’t know the answer. I’d have a guess that it would only drop the weapons that are in launch parameters and not drop the ones that are still yet to be in range. I’d presume that real world practices would be dropping multiple JDAMS on targets in the same vicinity of each other so the issue you are wondering about wouldn’t be a factor but can always fire up a mission and mythbust it for science haha

Once in zone you hold weapon release and pull nose up until bomb fall line goes through velocity vector 👌🏻 I will be doing an advance bombing video at some point in the future
