I'm surprised the DCC hasn't turned this into a revenue stream. Sell a package for a day as a DCC. Have about 50 mock up uniforms in various sizes. Make it like a two day weekend camp. Teach a combo, let them try on the uniform, perform on the field. Have it cost like $100. Include a couple lunches, pictures with the squad. You could fulfill all these dreams and pay your cheerleaders more money.

I was a cheerleader from grade school pee wee football & all the way through college. I really loved it, was a quick learner in cheer & did gymnastics even though, I didn't have an "extensive" dance background, I took many classes & learned soooo much, each class was really helpful. Making the DCC is a lot more difficult than, some may think. You must be very well rounded in many area's. A pretty face isn't enough, dancing in front of your mirror isn't enough. It takes an incredible amount of hard work and dedication full circle. It takes a lot of guts to even tryout. Always be confident because it most definitely shows on your face. Taking public speaking classes helped me a lot with one-on-one interviews! I highly recommend. I always do great with a group of people but tend to be a little more shy one on one. I would like encourage anyone who is thinking about trying out to "really research" and know the "style" of a DCC "before" trying out! DCC are true athletes! They definitely should be paid a lot more! I was really surprised about how many girls didn't know anything at all about football! Best of luck to all future candidates! #DCC 🏈💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙🤠

I won't lie, I was a surly punk growing up. But I've always had massive respect for dance and cheerleading, because that stuff is SO HARD and takes SO MUCH WORK. I surprised the girls at my new high school when I told them that, and we actually all ended up getting along in part because I never felt the need to put them down for cheerleading, and they took interest in my music and art. I ended up being pretty good friends with quite a few of them. That was 20 years ago.

I'm having PTSD flashbacks from high school cheer tryouts, now. Thank you. I didn't make the tryouts. It was a popular kid and hot girl competition and I was a nerd. It was humiliating. It's sad, bc a lot of those girls I was so jealous of are now having drug and alcohol recovery lifelong issues.

I think it’s a little of both; out of hundreds of girls trying out, they bring less than 20 rookie training camp candidates. With that ratio, there’s probably whole groups that are not as talented; they film them all for entertainment, and just air the best of the worst tryouts at the same time. The tryouts always have a narrative they follow- “here’s some strong girls, here’s their stories and their background; root for them! Alright, time to show you what they’re up against! Spoiler: they’re not up against much this first round!”

I'm honestly a little shocked, but I admire their confidence. I can't imagine getting out on the floor for a professional dancing career audition with some of what we saw here. I like that DCC will let people of all ages audition and their attitude about the older women who turned out. As they said, for these women this is something many of them want to do for an experience. I'm 48 years old. I did a little bit of dancing and cheerleading, but the skill level of the dancing expected here is above my pay grade and always has been. My body is okay for someone of my age (trying to be positive here), but it isn't something I'd want to put on display as a part of my job. As for my nieces, E is already at a university on a dance team scholarship. They dance at the games and compete. I don't know a lot about it, but I know she is an incredible dancer. I know she and her sister and will genuinely stand a good chance if they audition for something like this. I say this to lead into saying I have a really good idea of just how much work goes into making a professional cheerleader. I'm sure most of these girls have been dancing since they were around age 3. It's likely they were dancing several disciplines and entered into competitive dancing at an early age. My nieces have spent more hours than a lot of people might imagine training, dancing, competing and adding to and refining their skills. They look great on the floor. They're charismatic and beautiful. Both would probably make great Rockettes as well, particularly the youngest one.

I'd never let them judge me knowing that if I made it I'd be working for minimum wage and be working overtime hours that I'm not getting paid for. These girls are treated like dirt. The football players get paid a pretty penny and are treated well while girls get treated poorly and aren't paid like they should be. If they complain their either told to quit or get forced out.
