It’s not ridiculous when Islam said you need to know English to be a superstar in this sport when you’re from a different culture. Idk why they laughed that off. Being able to communicate by yourself to the UFC audience is crucial when you want to display your charisma in a sport that values personas. Translators simply cannot transfer your energy to the audience.

So he just rant out whatever and cut DC off because that is just how they usually are (i noticed from a lot of vids) whereas in any different interview Islam will take his time to listen and answer. As someone that picks up english as 2nd language myself, i think islam is doing a decent job. Good enough to TRY to express himself. I do foresee instances where people misunderstand him though. Same as khabib.

Yeah, and at the same time Islam was not understanding the questions or not able to answer and analyse because of his limited English. Like a broken record. He should use a translator to get more depth into his conversations.

I actually appreciate it, when guys like Jiri, Cyril Gane and Paulo Costa have someone to help them, just make sure that they understand and the message gets right, although they all speak english.

now people will accuse him of being arrogant, he's just clearly confident in he's abilities that's all, i don't understand what people want him to say, as dc said they have this amount of confidence because of how hard they train. and charles said he's 10 time better than what he does and he will start the fight on the ground (to prove a point), and i have no problem with what that either he's just being confident too, you gotta say these things when someone asks you about the fight. just because charles accused them of being arrogant people will keep accusing them blindly each time islam and his team show their confident about the fight.

All the western fighters bringing that whole bold brash big mouth energy, meanwhile Islam and Khabib are the ones with real charisma, no fireworks needed. We hang on their every word and they seem to effortlessly get us invested in their next fight, including the haters. What Charles has accomplished lately is incredible and worthy of being celebrated but somehow I just could not care less, and I think that must be because I have no sense of who he is as a person due to the language barrier.

I’d advise you to watch some interviews with Charles. He himself is a really solid guy, down to earth.

26:30 there.. there... the difference between khabib and his boys compared to another fighter from around that area is that they are really commited to the game, and they know they need to learn english as it was part of it, being good fighter sometimes is not enough, i wish really good talent like shavkat and ankalev also realize this soon, i know it's probably hard for them to start at this age, they probably already speaks at least 3 language in their daily life, their local, russian, and arabic
