With you, Josh! The QC on those figures is totally absent - McFarlane is really trying it on pumping up the price and drastically lowering the quality. And as for the two left legs for the BAF - that is both sloppy AND insulting.

Sold all of my McFarlane Toys/DC Multiverse action figures a couple of months ago and I do not regret it at all. I’m out for good, but for the rest of the people sticking with the line, safe collecting.

100% agree with you. Todd's playing a very dangerous game. on top of all this, the collector's editions are primarily reuse. it's insulting. i've actually slowed down almost completely on Mcfarlane's. Just way too predatory towards their most loyal clients. the reuse is out of control. i'm at a point where i will only get one of a body buck unless i find it on clearance. it is curious that he seems to be putting much more TLC into super powers. and in the wild, superpowers seem to sell much much better than multiverse.

I'm glad for the honesty. It's sad there are so many misses for McFarlane this year already. The quality: price point ratio is jacked up.

Thank you for informing the community Josh, it's really important to get these criticisms out to any and all DC Multiverse collectors so that it can motivate fans of this brand to not let McFarlane make them settle for less and to make him give us more of what we love about this these figures to begin with.

Completely agree. As someone who mostly loves obscure DC characters, I also feel Todd couldn't care less about his costumers; all I wanted from this wave was Spectre, but if you live overseas, you're screwed. I know for a fact there's a very high chance that if Todd does classic-looking versions of Doctor Fate, Etrigan, Swamp Thing or the Phantom Strange, those will be store exclusives and/or more expensive. It's also hilarious how random seems to be if a character will get a cloth cape or not.

I'm honestly super happy to be one of those that don't collect EVERYTHING (only the characters or main characters of franchises I SUPER care for), cause I knew from the moment I saw these that this was gonna be a disaster. The Spectre (who is one I WOULD get if it was cheaper) and Superman look good, and the build-a-figure too..but for the quality control issues,price point, and the platnium varients like you said for these exact figures, it's RIDICULOUS!!

Todd needs to do be better. I've always admired him, but this new shit is getting bad really fast. I don't blame you if you stop doing videos and going all out on creating videos for his figures. I didn't even get this wave and was so disappointed by the price and the fact they made it a store exclusive. I wanted Spectre, but now missed out on it.

Totally agree with you. After this and the Batzarro/Bizarro 2pk, I am also taking a step back from collecting DC Multiverse figures. They have just been so hit or miss in the last few months, and need to take a step back and get their quality under control.

I’m selling most of my DC Multiverse figures. This wave really took the joy out of collecting the line for me. The price for what you actually get was the last straw. I’m getting Spawn figures from Mcfarlane.

If you didn’t notice they forgot to paint the back of Superman’s belt…wait until that fresh bit of laziness sinks in. And for $40, holy shit. It’s the only figure I picked up this time and I absolutely cannot fathom how they couldn’t afford to paint some yellow belt lines on the back. McFarlane is literally turning into Hasbro now.

I really love this wave. But I feel you … unfortunate with all the quality control issues. I love that Spectre

I stopped buying mcfarlane figures around summer last year. I got bored waiting for a few figures I really want for my collection, while they pumped out repaint after repaint and gimmick variants. And honestly, don't miss collecting them at all. I've switched to other lines now and have to say I'm enjoying those way more.

Seeing your video today, I am kind of scared about the QC, my shipment arrived and I haven't had the time to even crack open the box and check. I agree with your points. When he started the black and white versions to the glow in the dark, etc. It gave me a bit of a break, but then I see figures I want locked behind gold labels or that damn collectors edition. And then here I am with this wave... I appreciate you calling out the bs, I been having the same frustration lately with this line. I think the last two figures I liked was the Wonder Woman and the Injustice 2 Brainiac, but that's a few out of the absurd amount of repaints I been seeing. 2 weeks ago I completed all those Target exclusive releases and it just confuses me more, why can't these be standard releases.

McFarlane lost it when they started doing virtual figures. That was just ridiculous. The only way they can come back is by remaking some of the older figures that you can get anymore. The knight fall series, the Solomon Grundy BAF series, Deathstroke and when are they going to make a good twoface or a Mad Hatter?

Very surprising to see a review of these figs where somebody isn’t knob slobbing all over them and rationalizing why these are 40 bucks.

I really like McFarlane toys I'm a fan, I got hooked on this line when it came out in 2020 but my god what the hell happened. If I see that Blue beetle body buck one more damn time I'm gonna lose it.

This is super sad I really think I'm only getting 4 figures from McFarlane toys for the rest of year this is just unacceptable

You forgot to mention the unpainted belt on the back side of Superman.

Although I agree on the abysmal quality and egregious pricing of this wave, I think it's unfair to put the onus on Tod McFarlane himself. Yes, he started the company decades ago and it's named after him, but it's still an entire company with many different people and scenarios behind these bad decisions. Also, regarding the Platinum chase variants; I may not agree with their choices but I do appreciate how getting his variants seems is a LOT easier than with other companies/collectibles; I actually find them on store shelves often.

Great vid Josh! It's important that we remain critical of companies and ensure that we as consumers get the best products possible!

I don’t regret buying the bundle. The figures are good enough for me, but I’m not blind to all of the issues surrounding this wave and the line in general. I’m not even a big McFarlane guy, but I am a big JSA and Perez era DC guy. I’ll split the middle and say that collectively, they’re not as good as they should have been even at half the price, but they’re still considerably better than previous figures of these characters.

When he announced the classic wonder woman, I was so excited. When the pre order went up and was $20aud over priced, my soul was crushed. Plus it had a very limited release, even though they knew people had been wanting her for YEARS. That’s what killed the line for me. I hate collecting McFarlane now, and I never will collect McFarlane again. There is one exception, I LOVE megafigs, and will buy pretty much any one I can get my hands on, they are always so much fun.

Yeah, you're right. The last good figure I purchased was the Target exclusive Red Tornado. And most of that wasn't original. For example, the cape was from the Alan Scott Green Lantern.

I was really excited for this wave but the price point made it so I only picked up Pyscho Pirate. It's simply too much. Between that and the receiving random platinum's I didn't ask for in my orders instead of what I wanted, I have pulled back as well. Thanks for the video Josh.

Some fair points

Excellent video, I liked the honesty, I agree with everything that was said in the video, as a collector of McFarlane figures, I am buying fewer and fewer figures, I was discouraged by some because of the quality control being less and less, congratulations on the video and the courage to say what you really think, and not be like many who try to hide the problems of these figures.

Any chance you can contact Customer Service and get a replacement leg for the Monitor?

Somebody out there has to like the weird repaints and variants like the blacklight figures. They obviously have some sort of market research that people buy them, or they wouldn't keep making them. Who though? Who likes those things?

It's interesting how we can get such golden figures like the blue beetle-booster gold two pack, Flashpoint Barry allen-Flash, The Riddler, Knightfall Batman etc then turn up some garbage in the same time span

Don't forget the bizarre pixelated prints on Psycho Pirate's torso and the fact that Kid Flash is the same size as Superman. I see why Target refused to take this as their exclusive wave this year.

This is heartbreaking! I was considering getting these but after listening to all the reviews, I just can’t do it.

The only characters that I like are Superman and Kid Flash because Crisis on Infinite Earth's Superman look cool but I think Todd should have made a new kid buck and his own mindset of how action figures or accessories work still sucks, However, Todd is wayyyyyyyy more worse than Hasbro's in term of offerings, Overall, Great review on these figures Josh.

My take on this is that the Toddfather has labeled the most wanted figure Sold-Out forcing the crowd to buy the bundle with the even sh:ttier rest of the bunch! But on the other hand, if that is true, he would have had thrown the Anne Hathaway Catwoman exclusive in an overpriced bundle and would have made the most wanted one (with ears) a platinum chase variant,...wait a moment,...ohh! I tell you what the Toddfather has learned with this moves: That morons do moronic things and that there are more than enough morons (at least cognitive dissonants) around buying sh:tty prototypesk figures for almost double or more (most of the people who have bought the whole bundle have basically confessed paying around 150$ just for that subpar, borderline sh:tty Spectre alone) and therefore he will further go down the rabbit hole of lesser (quality) for more (money)! Simple as that but for, sadly to many, people it seems to be rocket science!

The fact these are $40 for not much accessories is aweful

some modern companies are trying to fill the gap between collectibles and toys. the product category doesn't always make sense.

I wanted to like McFarlane's DC figures, but I just can't. Sculpt issues, paint issues (Lobo's various skin tones), articulation issues (joints that just break instead of moving). I've jettisoned every one I've bought.

Yeah I decided to take a break from McFarlane a few months ago

I definitely am feeling the annoyance. The Blue Beetle/Booster Gold is a great base body for simple designed bodies but I'm starting to get annoyed with it, it's one of the reasons I lost enjoyment for Marvel Legends, realizing the reuse of one body for loads and loads of characters, I like the fun differences between my toys. Then the platinums, there have luckily been many I felt I didn't much care to have over the normal fig, but there are some. The Knightfall Catwoman and now the new Azriel are some examples, and I have found some platinums but I'm just not all that wowed. Going back to the new Azriel, as a physical hunter I bet I wont find an Azriel at all (much like the Walmart one, which I hate hunting for Walmart exclusives soooooooo much because you can't track on website). I got into toy hunting and collecting because of a store I worked at that bought really anything from anyone and we had loads of the figs and that caused me to get into the hunting hobby of it so I can take my daughter out for the day and hunt for toys. Now I'm beginning to feel eh with all of the things that bother me and may even sell my collection (except a select few figs I really like) to prevent the temptation to collect more.

I just got mine in and i've already listed them for sale. 🐕💩

Good luck with that. I bought the bundle hoping to move the figures that I don’t really need, and they’re selling like hotcakes on eBay…hotcakes that have been left out in the rain overnight. That was a risk I knew I was taking with the figures being so overpriced to begin with, though. I think the unofficial boycott that started with the pricing has only grown now that the QC issues have come to light.

“Make up the price of the molds” dude this is 2024 they don’t make them like they used to and molds cost next to nothing.

I and not happy with this wave, I might just send the whole wave back and tell them I want a refund!

Im hoping someone over there is watching this. He has gotten sloppy recently and to even pay 40 for each of these is nuts. You give all the $20 flash figs lightning effects. But the one that's 40 you don't.

I was really grooving on this line for about 2 years. Now I'm really starting to get over it. At this point I'm still going to buy select characters, now and again, but that's it. I always liked DC Comics and their characters, but I was always way more into Marvel's comics and merch. When Hasbro jacked the prices up on lines like Marvel Legends and SW Black Series, I cut down and eventually stopped doing those, and switched over to DC Multiverse. But now with the gouging price increases, the inane Collectors Series, and the lousy QC, etc. I'm backing off of them. That Kid-Flash, and everything about it, looks horrible. I have the Black Wally West Kid-Flash and I love it. Honestly, I don't know why McFarlane didn't just give us that first one but with this Wally's head? and the other three I have no interest in. For $40 a piece we should be getting our money's worth. Not this "We couldn't care less Just give us your money, b***h" crap! And only buy what you like and want, when it comes to figures. You'll be a lot happier that way.

Here's a positive. I like the Detective Batman platinum. I dont care about the wrench.

I agree 💯 with you on this one! It does seem like McFarlane has taken this craptasticness to the next level for sure. I feel ya, the only one you showed that even seemed like a decent variant was the blue azbat, that one actually exists. But blue gloves Batman? Sketch joker? Slightly repainted steel? Customizers could do that themselves! Todd needs to have the balls to rerelease his figures. Or simply engage with the community more. Because what he thinks is “cool” isn’t. This isn’t the 90’s anymore, but Todd doesn’t seem to realize that. Maybe get someone in there with any kind of modern sensibilities. He’s an old man trying to hold onto his relevance. Get some new blood in there!!

Appreciate you for keeping McFarlane accountable. More ToyTubers who collect McFarlane should keep it real and call them out on the BS. I had to pass on wave for the cost and build of the figures. McFarlane isn't fooling anyone anymore. How I miss the good old days when unique sculpts were released and attention to detail was not skipped. Whatever happens to the line moving forward, hold on to you gen 1 releases. They just don't make them like they used to anymore. Also, your channel is unique because of how you pose your figures. I understand that it feels discouraging when McFarlane tries to get a fast one over us, but they way you pose your figures distinguishes you from the rest on KZread. Stay encouraged, and although you're not cranking them out like you used to, I'll always support and be one of your day ones! This wave was rushed. It's all very odd. And I complain agree, too many lines. Movie maniacs is unnecessary for example.

Horrible wave. Easy pass. The only cool looking fig is Spectre, but not worth the $40 price tag for it. Tood can suck it on this one.
