DBP Pest Control - .22 Gamo Coyote update & catching up on some ratting.

Фильм және анимация

Tonight I am at one of my ratting permissions keeping the numbers in check and also reporting on a small issue I found with the Gamo Coyote and what I did to fix it.

Glad it helped, just be careful to treat it gently so as not to put too much up/down/sideways pressure on the barrel :-)

Got exactly same gun & got same problem with my coyote will try your mod . Really annoying when you zero gun put in bag then of to shoot rabbits and missing them by a long way in to the left . Well done 👍

@@dbppestcontrol5670 Did BSA ever get back with you? I am looking at the coyote whisper fusion model here in the states. Nice shooting by the way.

@@brianwest5348 Hi Brian, sadly no they didn't. In addition to trimming off the barrel portion of the band I also loosened off the clamp screw. This ensures that the remaining "cradle" I left to limit any downward movement of the barrel, is free to rotate and can no longer hold the barrel off center. My Coyote has held zero as a result and is still spot on at 30m. Only yesterday, I read an in depth review on the Coyote by a gunsmith. He found that some Gamo barrels seem to angle upwards from the breech by varying degrees due to the fixing method used, hence the reason they appear to "ping" upward when the barrel band is removed. Although mine did slightly, the gap between the barrel and cylinder on mine seems fairly uniform and since it is shooting consistently and accurately, I'm not overly concerned. It's no Daystate or R10 but for the money, I still think it's a good entry level PCP.

Love your knowledge, you gained a subscriber. I hunt rats with the gamo coyote and absolutly love it. I'm stripping my stock and modify the pistol grip to fit my hand better. I find it to big and no thumb relief.

Hi Dave, glad to have you on board. I do find that too with the Coyote, hence my go-to ratting gun tends to be the BSA Ultra SE. I did however take the 35ft/lb Daystate Pulsar out a couple of nights back and got a couple of longer range rats at around 60m.

@@dbppestcontrol5670 awesome haha, such a small target at 60 m that, great shooting. I've managed a hand full of mice at max 20 yards with my coyote. I absolutly love it!!! Looking forward to your future content.

Hi Gerrit, welcome...the bipod and sling on the Coyote are mounted on a standard screw in swivel studs I fitted. These are quite easy to fit if you carefully drill a pilot hole first.

Hi Shane, I tend to use JSB 15.89gr pellets in all my .22 PCP's, I find they always shoot well. I also get good results from Air Arms 16gr and more recently the H&N Barracuda 15. If asked, I always recommend the JSB as a good starting point to finding the pellet that works best in your particular gun.

@@MrNewtonian well its horses for courses, very often a sub 12 is all I need for close work around buildings. As the distances open up beyond 30 or 40 meters, the FAC will come out, for anything larger than pigeon or corvids (rabbits) at ranges over 60 or 70m, I prefer the rimfires.
