Go look at the early history of the US Navy. I've known a family on a fixed income to lose their home for owing a few hundred. The tax codes changed but not their income and they lost a home they lived in for 60years.

Yep. I got a year of threatening letters for $0.00 Not sure if there was some half cent thing going on there, but I tried contacting them, best I got was a “how to pay my outstanding balance” recording. My accountant shrugged his shoulders at it. He didn’t know what to do. I guess the next tax season straightened it out.
