Love this movie. Fast Times at Ridgemont High would be a perfect follow up to this movie.
Goodwill Hunting And Gone Girl... both are a must!

Class of 78 in FL was just like this, without the hazing.. Then I moved to Austin in 81, so this is doubly weird.
If you want a great Ben Affleck film please watch Gone Girl!
Slater is one of my favorite characters in any movie. "Have you looked at a dollar bill man? There's some spooky stuff going on on a dollar bill man, and its green too"😂😂

this is a great reaction. you two pay attention, dont comment too long, have a good sense of humor and seem reflected
My favorite thing about this movie will always be randell "pink" floyds belt buckle when they are standing outside the emporium because its a freaking bowl lolz
This is the first reaction I've watched from y'all and really enjoyed you two. I'll check out some more and give ya a sub. Good stuff
Perfect timing just got a new phone and my YT account back with some Dabs for one of my favorite movies of all time it just so happens too be a stoner flick
Love this movie.. best soundtrack and best cars of any movie. Reminds me of H.s. .. i was a freshman in the early 80s.. went to a party the first weekend.. met a bunch of Jr and seniors who became my good friends. Literally didnt hang with anybody from my freshman class for years lol. 36 years later and we are still all brothers and sisters.
Affleck was in Armageddon also
I grew up in the 70s. This movie is pretty close to small town/rural America at the time (for 16-18 year olds). Every teacher had decorated paddles hanging on the wall right next to their desks. Hazing was part of growing up. Dealing with bullies was a right of passage. Me and my friends watched this movie on VHS so much we burnt through 2 copies wearing them out. This was the Cheech and Chong stoner movie of the 90s. Most of the actors went on to big things like Matthew, Ben, and Cole. Adam Golderg (wimpy intellectual) went on to Saving Private Ryan a year later. Joey Lauren Adams was a favorite of director Kevin Smith. Pink (Jeremy London) and his twin brother Jason London were featured in tons of television series for 20 years after this movie. Parker Posey and Anthony Rapp, also are still successful actors. Fun Fact, Wiley, (Mitch Kramer) had no experience in sports and had to have a "stunt thrower" for the baseball scene. They camera stays close on his face when he "throws" but only shows the body of the actual thrower. Art Linklater (director/writer) tried a sequel to this movie years later, and supposedly the 80s version of this. This movie was lightning in a bottle and couldn't be duplicated.
Not sure how old you guys are but I'm guessing we are about the same age. Someone pointed out on twitter that if they were to remake this movie now they'd be using 2007, which was my Jr year. Blows my mind to think my age group is that far removed

Class of '09, Bralik is a few years older
This movie is classic. Born in the 70's, HS in the 80's, University in the 90's. This movie is 1/16 my life lol This is Gen-X to its core.
I thumbed it up before I even started! 😎😉
finally, something LIGHT...with laughter! keep hope a-live!
One of my favourite movies purely for the nostalgia this brings
The paddles still confuse me too this day 😂
I do have to quickly mention the part where the freshmen get revenge on O'banion by dumping paint all over him, and the absolute stupidity that was displayed by these freshmen when they revealed themselves as the one's who just did it. Sure, it would be very satisfying to get revenge and you would love to reveal that you were the one to do it to him. But don't you think that O'banion is now going to kick the ever living crap out of you when he catches you? You think he's just going to forget that happened?
Gravel pit parties in my area of Minnesota. Class of 76, 18 was the drinking age, so most of us could go to bars when we were still in high school. College in 1976-1980 was house parties, charging each person for a keg cup. $2 for guys, $1 for girls... 18 was the drinking age. We paid $12-$18 for 16 gallon kegs, Old Style was the cheap kegs, Schlitz Malt Liquor was more expensive... high alcohol content. After the movie Animal House came out, the parties got wilder. We paid out rent & utilities with what we made with a party every month. Every weekend there was a house party near our small campus.

@EShelby I grew up in a small Wisconsin town an hour east of St. Paul, MN. I was class of 1983 and 18 was still the drinking age. Every Friday night in the summer we also went to the gravel pit to party. We usually just brought cases of Old Milwaukee that we could buy right from the distributer in town for less than $10 we would get 4 cases as long as we had 4 empty cases of returnables to trade in. At the gravel pit we would all show off our cars (I had a 1970 GTO) blast our stereo's listening to Boston, Van Halen, AC/DC, etc. We would have a big bon fire and make out with our chicks. Every once in a while the cops would show up but all they would say is "Make sure that fire is out and all these bottles are picked up before you leave". It did help that one of our friends was the Police Chiefs son. Great times even though I'm getting old I wouldn't have wanted to grow up at any other time.
Richard Linklater is one of the most insightful writer/directors in American movies, for real. Dude has made SO MANY great films and wrote some of my favorite screenplays that have inspired me as an aspiring filmmaker. You've got a lot to explore in that filmography.

4:19 he’s about to jump on a yacht and hold Ava Mendez hostage and try to kill Paul Walker💀
Filmed in my hometown of Austin, TX when I was a junior in high school. A lot of my friends are extras in this movie. ❤
RIP My Uncle this was his fav movie good stuff fellas
Fun fact.....the kid Mitch wasn't actually doing any of the pitching in that baseball game. The director of the movie, I believe, had to do the pitching himself because the kid playing Mitch Kramer didn't know how to throw a ball.....AT ALL. I don't know how such a thing is possible. Trying to imagine growing up as a boy, and never throwing a ball ever, is just baffling to me. This movie was a huge part of my youth. I was a senior in high school when it came out. And as much as I love the movie, I wasn't a big fan of the kid that they got to play Mitch. He wasn't horrible, but still he was pretty bad. He had never actually acted before this movie, so its understandable he wouldn't be a great actor. But he has some quirks that just annoyed the crap out of me. I'm sorry to do this, because once you know about it, you can't unsee it. But check how many times Mitch Kramer grabs the bridge of his nose with his fingers. Its such a bad and obviously rehearsed gesture. How the director didn't tell him to stop doing that sh*t, is a mystery to me.
If you haven't seen it I think y'all would love Fist Fight #suggestions #reactions You guys are great! ❤
My favorite movie of all time, the guy who made this movie made another good one calked everybody wants some
One of my FAV movies glad you watched it😁 Richard Linklater is an unappreciated genius another underrated movie no one has really reacted to is 2014 Boyhood features Ethan Hawk, a couple of different other actors but it was shot over 12 years and it follows kids from 5 years old to high school graduation FANTASTIC MOVIE
Great movie man 😊
Alright alright alright! 🔥 💨 🍺
Best Ben Affleck movie is The Accountant.
This movie is a good pairing with Friday for a double feature
13:10 we all know one chick that was in school that was exactly like this😬😭
More stoner movies. Subbed
Sadly, not much had changed by 1988. I was hazed to at military school as a freshman.
Porkys. , As right around the corner , kinda funny. , animal house , Don’t know how well they are aging well .. but……
If you guys haven't seen stand by me you should watch it. Best coming of age movie.

I swear the 60s til the 90s was different: each decade was so different that this film was a "period piece"; set in the distant past of 17 years previously!! Lol. Imagine now, making a film set 17 years ago, in 2007 -- everyone would still have the same haircuts! Basically..
Hit em with the soul pole
You should check out "Everybody wants some". Basically a sequel
33:17 too funny! lol
Congratulations to MICHAEL DUNLOP who broke his uncle's JOEYS 26 year old record at the isle of man TT the deadliest motorcycle race in the world with 27 wins. Could I request reacting to ROAD it's a documentary film about the Dunlop family who are motorcycle racing royalty or CLOSER TO THE EDGE about the 2010 isle of man TT
I'm not saying hazing is ok but it seems to me hazing today is non stop torture and no benefits if you go through it and not complain.
Is the girl who asks mitch if hes ok the same lady who is the last woman to see jimmy altieri alive???
alright....alright...alright.
Great movie
The soundtrack is insane really brings the movie to life
"The Town" was a great Affleck movie. Anthony Rapp is the gay guy that ended Kevin Spacey's career.
I was highschool junior/senior in 1987/88 in Sacramento. During the week, everyone was in their various cliques (jocks, preppys, stoners, newwavers, skaters, misfits, geeks, etc). What was weird was everyone was invited/welcomed to the weekend house parties of whoever's parents were on vacation for the weekend. It was only considered successful if the cops were called. Then Monday was back to cliques. Weird, I know...was that how it was for anyone else? (fyi, I was in the misfit/geek category, with a bit of crossover to newwavers who seemed to tolerate me :) ).
Another banger
The character who picked the fight with the '50s greaser was in Fargo season 1. He acted the deaf hitter's partner who gets his throat cut by Lorne.
this documentary was cool.
You need to watch THE ACCOUNTANT with Ben Affleck. He's a bad ass!
I was born the year this movie was set but a lot of older folks that graduated between then and ‘85 have said that hazing did exist in hs. Usually less extreme like peanut butter under armpits, duct taped to a pole outside while it was raining or heads being dunked in toilets.
"That's one of those I don't know how fucked I am before I stood up moments". hahahaha been there, man.
Yeah I got bullied but it usually from the preppy jocks or peers who didn’t know my reputation and were sorry after since I was hanging out with older kids in high school when I was in 6th grade so I had older friends to back me up for revenge and I was going to local punk concerts and hanging out with older punk’s that didn’t like bullies
Honestly not a big fan of this movie though I get the love for it I will say it’s probably got the best soundtrack of any film ever like it’s got nonstop iconic anthems.
I can't wait to see y'all watching and reacting on the Australian ''Mr. Inbetween'', which imo one of the most PErfect series ever made in the history of TV. Highly Recommended! P.E.ace from overseas, The Netherlands.
The best hang out movie of all time.
Please follow this up with Everybody wants some! at some point
Hey guy's, I love your channel but in this reaction I can barely hear the movie with the volume maxed out and headphones on.
I was watching that Hot Ones spicy wings podcast and Noel Gallagher described Matthew McConaughey as "like a character from Star Wars".
Awesome reaction/ can you please watch a movie called CASUALTIES OF WAR.
FUCK YES. Omg this movie is the fucking 70s. Ass whoopin’s, shotguns, pot, sexual harassment and rock and roll 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾 hoochi coooo. Also the super nerd is the Jewish character in “saving private Ryan”, and the paddling scene is done as a gag with Chris from family guy in like season 2
Thanks for reacting to this. This is the most Accurate of the high school movies. I graduated in the 70's and that's how we partied. 😊

You raced through neighborhoods chasing down freshmen boys to spank with paddles?
I'm bout to get high AF right now
"Wipe that face off your head" Parker Posey is so funny as the uber-mean girl in Dazed & Confused. Her line delivery is so obnoxious, like she's chewing her face, I can't help but laugh despite how mean she is to everyone 🤣🤣🤣
I remember the two tag lines for the movie poster when this came out, "See the movie everyone's toking about" "See it with a bud"
may 28th 1976 was my dads last day of high school, he says it to me every time this movie is on TV 😂
Great reaction y’all. 😂 how he gonna pull up to rob the store but rob the people outside 1st. 😂😂👏👏alright alright alright. 😂
One of my favorite movies ever. Now you should watch Almost Famous and Empire Records (which also has rory cochrane, aka slater, in it)
Lemme go ahead and blaze one up and watch with yall, lol
Love the reaction guys. I was initially annoyed because I thought y'all had skipped a couple of great parts. Turns out you only skipped one of them. I thought you skipped the speech by Mcconaughey when he talked about high school girls, but you hadn't. But what you did skip was one of the most iconic slow motion walks in movie history. When Mcconaughey first enters the Emporium, is such a iconic part. Wish y'all hadn't skipped that.
WILD FACT: Ben Afflec Broke his leg from breaking the paddle going into his car after he got the paint thrown on him. he finished the scene
Dude, the funniest part of this movie is when he asks the girl if she needs a ride to the party...as shes driving 2 dudes. 😂😂 the disrespect
The main kid wasn’t an actor
I love this movie!! "Don't let your mouth right a check your butt can't cash" 😂
I did much crazier in my days
I didnt have super wild teen years but damn does this make you remember the fun, energy, goofin around with friends, and the few parties we did have. HAM-MERED and high as a giraffes ass.
I swear this was us in high school back in the early 80s in the middle of Illinois!!😂😂
That's the thing I love about space travel. Everyone else gets older, I stay the same age
That man said THE MUFF 😂😂
Coming of age feel good movie. Some memorable lines and moments.
One trope definitely still existed in class of 93 you guys missed. Dorky senior with no game nabs a super hot freshman.
I lived through this time. Without the paddles or all the hot cars and trucks. In 1976, I would have graduated high school. Western suburb of Chicago. Those were some awesome times. The person who played Mitch. This was his first acting job. Did a pretty good job.
And we looked up to these guys. 1970s in Texas
Hilarious movie that’s super quotable. Great vibe.
When i was a freshman in high school, the seniors would write an F on our foreheads. 3 of them tried that with me, but I've been trained in martial arts since i was 5! I kicked their butts!
Great job Men. And yeah, this pretty close to how it was for us back in the mid 80s. The best of times….. You guys got to check out “The Accountant “ with Ben Afflek. An absolute banger
I graduated in 1973 and except for the hazing this was pretty much my existence. If all the movies that follow this basic story line this is probably my favorite. Never the less I also suggest watching Hollywood Knights and American Graffiti.
Love when they dumped the paint on Affleck. Reminds me of the scene in The Wire where Mike and Namond did the same thing to that asshole cop.
