The way Dazai thinks and perceives the world never fails to shock me.. it's beautiful and I share too, the mind he has. Although I am free from illnesses of the mind I find my thoughts the way he does aswell. I've read No Longer Human and School girl and It was the best pieces of literature I've come to read.
Dazai was waaaaaay ahead of his time when he wrote this. I think he’d love the BSD adaptation if he’d been alive. (If he hadn’t tried to commit multiple times and finally succeeded that is)

Omg I read this book around the time season 2 came out and hooooly shit wow. It’s basically the author’s s*1c1de note / autobiography (considering parallels with his own life and what happened after he wrote it, despite it being “fiction”). Tldr this one is intense n if u struggle with mental illness I would not trigger urself with this - it’s not just ur average depressing book, it’s his last work and generally agreed to be his s***** note & about his struggles under the veneer of “fiction”. It is incredibly well written tho so if u can handle it go for it

This book is an absolute masterpiece, no matter what people might try to say, it IS depressing and leaves u empty, however it was really interesting; I really enjoy dazai osamu’s works, this was my favorite out of the ones I’ve read, he is able to word my thoughts in a way I never thought anyone would be able to, he describes humanity as if he is watching from afar, he was such an interesting person, this is my favorite book of all time.
So depressing but it fascinated me because to a certain point people live their lives like this
I read this in 6th grade because I was suicidal and as I read it I thought that it was nice to be able to relate to someone else who’s also suicidal and I found the book interesting and I cried through some of it because of how relatable it was 10/10 would recommend

Although I don't really like the anime. Funny how the book doesn't trigger me in the slightest but the anime does.

I read this book when I was around 12 and still own it before Bungo stray dogs came out since I lived in Japan in my childhood and it was a “classic” It’s a very depressing book about the real dazais life. While he changed his and some of the peoples names in the book. It’s a semi-autobiography book which means it’s his life with a different name to people and ofc references and puzzles for what happened in his life. Since i love art and animation, someone said my character looked like dazai from Bungo stray dogs when I started writing my light novel “vehemence”. So I searched up the character last year and watched the series and watching S4 rn. It’s pretty good. and ofc. I read the novels of bsd which are also well written.
