I only recently learned about the sprinting strong attack from a viewer of my stream, and have been using it constantly since. It's so fluid and smooth, can't believe I didn't hear about this mechanic for over 1,000 hours! One neat part about the running attack is it uses alternate animations for the attack. For example it swings a spear like a baseball bat. It has an alternate quick animation for all slow melee weapons, and most of the fast weapons also get an alternate style. Because the timing is different, it takes some getting used to. The alternate swing animation is a massive boost for ultra-slow weapons like the sledgehammer. Makes it OP in melee, just sprint in and out bopping them on the way past. If they don't know this mechanic, they don't stand a chance against you in open spaces -- just don't get trapped in closed quarters where they can stun lock you with repeated strong attacks.

Night vision have to HOLD down L. If you just tap L it won't go on.

I found Num+ recently which is a gamechanger for me. Can sprint while simultaneously accessing and sorting inventory. Shift key for breath hold and sprint is a great idea! I learned R for mag reloading last week, but Hotbar ammo is new to me!

@@sykez1274 Press the (+) key on the numpad and it'll toggle sprint until you press one of the WSAD keys. Then while you're sprinting you can reload, sort inventory etc

@@ondrejmracek7445 Yeah you're right. I didn't realize it was a mod until I played on a different server and it wasn't there. Definitely useful for servers with unlimited stamina though, as you can hit the button, then sort inventory, check map etc while still sprinting.

@@Nitno is it me or has the rain got heavier as well. I had visibility drop to about 500mtrs and it was big ol fat rain. 💧🤔

I've been doing the sprint hard hit attack from early on because I play like a maniac I suppose. Most players don't respond with the F key gun butt if they're holding a weapon. Real good idea to change L control to shift. Been wondering what veteran players keybind. Thanks 👍👍❤❤

@@Nitno Aww mann! I wish I had seen your videos long before getting used to using CTRL for so long, it might be hard to undo the mental attachment to what my fingers do automatically now, BUT BY GOD I WILL TRY THIS! (I like CTRL to be "Crouch" for most games anyway!) *INSTANTLY SUBBED!*

After just 4 Days of playing with this change of using SHIFT instead of CTRL, ...I'm glad to report that it's true = it is FAR easier to make accurate shots now, ...and it's much faster! Thanks again @Nitno

You can also toggle the entire HUD by holding the tilde key. Press it once just to toggle hot bar

I just bought this game dayz ago! Been watching DayZ related vids for a while now. I just came across your video today so please forgive me if I'm late to the party. I haven't taken the time to go throught your channel yet to see what else you have. Please forgive me again as I've paused the video to write this comment. This video is exactly what I need! I greatly appreciate you right now. Now the next thing I need is this same video for playing with controllers on PC. I have a PS5 controller because I'm not good on a keyboard yet. I'm used to controllers and haven't really increased my typing skills. I'm 47yrs old and have been a console gamer since my pre-teen years. Yes, I'm a gaming dinosaur! I've been on a personal strike from console ownership since the PS2 because I believe console gaming has become more and more like mobile gaming with all the micro transactions (that another topic for another day). I've lived through the transition from purchasing a physical copy of a whole game to everything being digital so to speak. I remember how you would always get the game, the book to the game, and some promotional stuff in the package lol. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for this vid and let you know you've earned a new sub. Thanks again and I'll be looking out for more tangible beginner tutorials like this. Thank you.

Happy I can help. Yeah check out the rest of my videos. I have quite a few beginner guides. DayZ has a LOT in information to uncover, take your time with it. I understand you prefer controller, but I cannot emphasize enough how much I recommend learning the to play on keyboard. If you can only play on controller, I recommend sticking to PvE servers, you'll be at a big disadvantage in pvp fights.

I use side mouse butons for my lean, E for free look, left alt for hold breath. Left alt hold breath is really nice cause i get to use my thumb and not my pinky thats sore as fuck from having to always hold shift to run lol

Changing Shift to Jump and Space to Sprint helped me with sore pinky, Far easier to just rest your thumb on spacebar while running cross country. oh and Space also doubles as Hold Breath.

I thought strong attacks could never be blocked? Hmm. I guess stun locks only work if they don't block the initial swing? I've never had anyone block my second or third strong swing. I thought the running attack was just a strong attack while moving forward. But I only recently learned about it when a viewer of my stream gave me that tip. It's a well-hidden mechanic. If it can't be blocked, and regular strong attacks _can_ be blocked, then it's that much more powerful of a secret than I thought!

I need to figure out where to bind walking.. I am using CTRL for holding breath, but if you keep walking on CTRL you will slow down while holding breath which i dont like.. now when I have to walk i have to double tap CTRL every time I start walking 😅

@@prestongreenbay6336 the aiming is so much more precise but with a mouse crisp I can shoot each eye out if I wanted on the Xbox I could never get the settings right I’d be happy just to get a hit and man it was slow . You’ll get used to the movement just put those hours in

best leaning way is to go in settingsfolder of the game and put lean right on d and lean left on a. that lets you lean everytime you move right or left

That's a neat idea. It would make it a lot harder to be hit in the head, though it would also make your character look a bit ridiculous when just jogging through a town!

That is a mod, I've used it before. I believe it should be in your keybinds menu if you open it up. Keep in mind the server has to have that mod for it to show up in keybinds.

Is there a way to be able to tilt just by pressing the button once and not have to keep it pressed?

On PC it's up arrow on the keyboard.

After the update my character is fine up and until i enter a house then when i go outside .....i run sideways and my ( wsad ) controls are all reversed . Whats with that ?

Well i added the Dayz tools App to my inventory , and that helped and was able to play a few games . But later that evening it started happening again . Maybe its a server issue , or a tools issue , but im making progress .

Mouse side buttons for lean, I've tried it once just because I was messing around, that shit confused me, prefer e and q

I'm currently making a habit of running around and waving. Call me waiver. I just want to be friendly. I'd like to open a restaurant in DayZ, but it doesn't seem entirely practical. I think I'd need at least one partner to hunt/fish/garden while I man the shop. I'm playing Official, so I would just take any item you'd like to donate in exchange. I have a hard time with the running attack; usually overshoot it. I've been thinking about using something like autohotkey to set up macros for long hold keypresses and left clicks. I feel like this game is going to cause arthritus, spending so much time holding down keys/buttons.

By default I think it is middle mouse button. It should be called "eye zoom" in keybinds.

They realllly should allow rebinding!

DayZ gunplay is so extremely clunky. What bothers me most is that when toggled into ASD, reloading doesn't automatically de-toggle ASD. I get the purpose for snipers, but for close combat, all you end up doing is slow your character down to a standstill while reloading because you're toggled into ASD.

M&K has been on Console for quite some time now and it's bullshit they still haven't given us an option to customize our Keybinds... Wonder how many Years we will have to wait for Devs to implement this one. Things like this that are annoying ash and only having 2 Maps to play makes me have a huge love/hate relationship with DayZ lol 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh wow, yeah you really should be able to customize!

Just a Tip for the 'Leaning', You can multi bind; 'Q' on 'A' and 'E'' on 'D' so you can Lean in the direction of your 'Strafe'. Note: There are Pro's and Con's to this method, as (Con's) you will not be able to stand still and Lean But, as (Pro's) this will eliminate the need for rolling your fingers to press multiple keys. 👍
