After I saw this video I bought this clock for my dad about 6 months ago. What makes it important is it show him the day of the week and if its morning, afternoon, or evening. This is important for people with dementia. Even though my dad could see the time on other clocks, he didn't know if it was morning or evening or what day of the week it was. The other great thing is the text is very large, so he can even see it from the couch without his glasses. It's also neat to see how smooth the text is, it doesn't look like a typical LCD clock. The battery backup works fine (and even my other clocks with battery backup do not display the time when there is a power outage, they just maintain time internally until power is restored). It does slowly get fast, but honestly all clocks I have ever owned do this.. some much worse than others, unless they are specifically atomic clocks that set themselves using the signal from Boulder, CO. There are other clocks that look identical, though American Lifetime appears to be based in Florida per their website.

no she did not do a good job of explaining the functions of this clock but it's not really her responsibility anyway. It's the responsibility of the manufacturer and I cannot believe they don't have a decent video on the internet. She needed to tell us which buttons she was pressing in the back. You can't just keep pressing buttons and not tell people what the heck you're doing. Sometimes you have to select the okay button to confirm but not always. I am tempted just to buy this clock to do a better video because I bought this clock for my mother who lives thousands of miles away. And she definitely isn't up to messing around with all of these functions. However I am so grateful this lady did put out a video because something is better than nothing. just wish she would listen to our comments and do another video but again, it's not really her responsibility

@@avneravigad7000 start watching from minute marker 1:55 most likely once you select set the time option you probably will use the up arrow to increase 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. I bought this for my mother so I don't have it in front of me otherwise I would help you out a lot more. I can't believe the manufacturers of this clock didn't put together a decent video

No, she didn’t explain how to set the time

The "Take Your Medicine" alarm and display lasts for 50 seconds in case anyone is wondering. The manual does NOT stipulate what battery to buy should the power go out. The back up battery does NOT power the clock during an outage, just remembers all the settings and will display the correct time once power is restored [however, if we can find out what battery to buy, we won't have to worry about that!! :-) ]

The only thing you forgot to do is let people know that you have to press the "OK" button to confirm/select at the beginning of the video. Otherwise, I am hoping my Uncle and his girlfriend who are NOT good with technology will be able to set this up for my mother as I live in another country.

I have one of these , the buttons on the back are maddening, even for someone that is not experiencing some form of old age problems, they are not properly labeled , I finally had to go online and find out the real function of each button and label each one properly, they are no doubt made in china and shipped world wide so they have symbols on there that have nothing to do with what it really does, and if you push the wrong one you have to start all over again still not sure what to do, it's a vicious circle, and trust me you will need to frequently re-adjust the time they tend to add a minute every few days and before you know it it's over 10 minutes fast

Thank you for your video. I know the clock was meant to be bright so you can see it from a distance but is there anyway to dim the light? I couldn’t figure that out if there is away.

So if you hang it on the wall, you have to take it down and push a button on the BACK of the clock to stop the alarm? Horrible Feature! How long does it ring if you do NOT shut it off in this ? manner Also for this price it should have a battery option or even battery back up for power outtages which happen more & more it seems. Also agree with post saying you should be able to enter your own messages via phone or computer sice it has usb port. Last, some sound options would be nice given if it's on the wall you may have to endure it for awhile before the alarm stops. A=I HOPE the manufacturer READS these posts 7 incorporates the requests. ALSO the shouldHIRE you -you were so GREAT at showing how to use all the features. Thank you

If you power adapter goes out, you can power the clock thru the USB port with Samsung phone charger and USB to USB cable. Works perfectly.

Can we set alarms to display "Take your medicine" and NOT have the chime sound off? Would that alarm alert go off by itself or would we have to take the clock down off the wall to turn alarms off? Thanks

This is different from the version I have, it has a remote but programming the alarms is funky and confusing. I think they could have provided different, more pleasant alarm sounds then the telephone one.

Unfortunately these clocks have a poorly designed timing circuit such that the clock is about 5 minutes fast per month. In the realm of crystal timing, this is considered horrendous accuracy, especially when you consider these clocks are supposed to be for people that shouldn't have to keep adjusting the time setting every month.

@@askoor13 That's great and all, but I'm not going to force my mother to adopt military time in her old age. I've already tossed this piece of crap in the garbage. I did examine the interior and it's a 2-dollar Chinese PCB with lots of throw-away routing. Just an amateur job all the way around that is WAY overpriced.

My clock is stuck on a certain day/time/year. I can change them but as soon as I hit the OK button to save each change, it reverts to what it was when I got the clock. Is there a way to unlock this clock so I can make changes? There are lock icons beside the foot connection (not sure why - maybe to lock the foot in place?) and there is a lock icon next to a small hole just above the foot that has a 'K' on the lock icon. I am not sure what that means, but there is nothing to do with the hole - no button, no switch, no nothing. I am beside myself on this and cannot send it back, too long since I bought it. I have the version with the 'Pause/Play' symbol on the center button vs. the 'OK'. Please help! This thing was too expensive to toss out and my dad who has dementia needs it now.

Could you please post instructions on howto re-set the actual time on this clock? mine keeps showing the wrong time.

This clock has been a lifesaver for my mom .. HOWEVER, she needs an alarm now to get up but telling her to touch a button on the back to turn off is past her ability.. I mean it causes anxiety for her. Could there eventually be a separate button on the front or side ?? If I tell her to push any button, she may push the on/.off. Right now she has no tv b/c she can’t work the remote … this is great but the alarm function is too confusing & distressing for her :(

Yeah. It's rather odd to have to reach the back to turn off the alarm. That pretty much eliminates the option to wall mount the clock; especially if the use purpose is for those that the clocks can help most. People who design things really need to put themselves in others shoes, instead of looking at everything from their current perspective.

No you cannot type in your own message. I am tempted just to buy this clock to do a better video. However if you have purchased the clock their customer service is fairly responsive. I bought this for my mother who lives thousands of miles away so I don't have possession of it which drives me crazy. another thing to note, you have to set all 5 alarms in order for any of them to work. So if you only need two alarms example take your morning medicine and take your evening medicine, you have to divide that up so you would have to program three or four alarms that would be the exact same time and then the fifth alarm would be your evening alarm. What a stupid stupid mistake of the manufacturers. Don't they realize these clocks are for senior citizens and not 20 year olds who are comfortable with technology?

every couple days clock reverts to setup time, I unplug, clock resets to correct time. Is there a fix?

I got the clock on Amazon and had a power failure when the power came back on all of the reading on the clock was backwards and would not revert very disappointed with this clock

Maybe it’s our clock that is not working right, but you are not showing us in the video what you are pushing on the back once you push the menu. I can’t seem to get anything to move or change.

I wish I would have come across your video earlier!! After fiddling too much with mine to just change the time for daylight savings time, I now have an orange square error message smack in the middle of the screen reading "Time set error!" I've tried unplugging it for well over 2 hours but still have that error message. Any suggestions?

Ours also developed that error message when we updated to Daylight savings. I am in the middle of back and forth with American Lifetime. In the first round they simply misunderstood me an sent me a link to this video, which contains everything we had already done. I will update this reply if we do/don't get a workable reply from American Lifetime.

I have sent repeated e-mails to them about this, and they have not replied, except for the inital (irrelevant) reply I mentioned above. As you have probably noticed, they do not disclose a phone number. I frankly could live with an answer that said "sorry it can't be fixed", but the rudeness of a non reply from a company that talks about "24/7 customer service" is inexcusable.

Does it have a backup battery and is the battery replaceable or do you just throw it away? If you just throw it away you're throwing away your money!

Love this clock and then it broke so it's no good now.

OUR DAUGHTER GAVE US TWO FOR CHRISTMAS AND WE LOVE THEM; ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO ONE QUIT WORKING. IT STILL GETS POWER BUT THE SCREEN IS BLANK. IS THERE ANY WAY TO REPAIR IT OR CAN IT BE RETURNED FOR A REPLACEMENT?

@@alainouellette2985 once you press on the menu button the screen will display a lot of options and then you have to use the down arrow button on the back to get to the option that you want to change. she does cover that in the video I'm not sure how you missed it

They cost $50 in Australia . I wanted it but price is a ripp off . Most it should cost is $18

i have two of these and neither keep time , after about 2 months the gain a couple of mins, total waste of money

For that price it is better to teach the person to manage a tablet. The power cord is uncomfortable, there are already lithium batteries on the market of up to 4,000 mAh so that the watch lasts several days. The USB port must be used to synchronize the mobile phone calendar. However, the interface is striking and useful for everyone, including healthy people.
