A veteran and untried (in ISTAF competition) Korean regu got the better of their near neighbours, but were made to fight in the second set. Sawa Aoki kept plenty of balls alive, but the battle was won and lost at the net, where Jeong Inseon (18/22 spikes and an incredible six blocks) and Kim Hyunju (9 spikes and a block) dominated Yuumi Kawamata (24/30 spikes, 6/12 bocks)
