I feel like this game development is not organized as it should.. people donated to the kickstarter to get a dragon others couldnt get (only by nesting),instead of making exclusive skins. I played this game 1 year ago and i tried the update,the game is literally the same. Different map. This is dissapointing.

Is it me or do these models look like there were shot Infront of a green screen?

The actual flight animation is decent, but what’s off putting to me is the correlation between mass and movement- for example, when the dragons land, it’s so straight up and almost like the dragon weighs nothing at all, whereas if it was real there would be some sort of drop-and-skid movement, and they’d take a few steps forward to slow down and regain balance if that makes sense

Дело в том, что если приземляться без торможения - то дракон будто бы врезается в землю. Падает. По меньшей мере в текущем виде игры это выглядит так. А вот если притормозить - то садится он прилично. Но анимация торможения немного дурная, да.

I am happy they are progressing and made a trailer, but am I the only on who feels like the in-game flight and animations look and feel way smoother? this just looked choppy and stiff to me.

ngl I 100% agree I was lowkey shocked at just how terrible it looked thats flight I expect to see in stuff like ark, not day of dragons

the small fairy dragons at the start don't fit as well into the world or environment to me, they look too,, smooth? idk how to describe it but they definitely stand out to me - Other than that all the models look pretty great, sound design is also very nice.

the small fairy dragons are called bioluminescent dragons, and they are a completely cosmetic dragon species with 0 attack or defense.

The game is out and they have a cool scaley texture, and there's caves with glowy crystals that they really fit into, and the island is a new biome for them so don't worry!

Just got the game on sale. I like the concept but theres definitely work to be done. Like theres hardly any actual gameplay elements yet. I am cautiously supportive as i want to see a fully fleshed out version. But first they need the most basic gameplay features, such as actual animals to hunt (currently theres really only bugs and mushrooms to eat, and eating to grow is half of the available gameplay), questing/collectibles/events would be nice, some kind of jobs/skill building system maybe... i understand that having a large variety of playable creatures is cool and all, but it doesnt count for much when there isnt much to do with them. To the Devs: Don't make people burn out before theres an actual game to play. Cool it on adding playable dragons for now and focus on gameplay elements and adding non-player life to the world. Please and thank you.

I want to be excited about this. I want a dragon survival game. But this trailer, it’s not how you launch it. Backgrounds do not suit the dragons (with some even being placeholders. Show your own maps in a trailer, don’t show placeholders), the two bright dragons especially (really should’ve been shown in their preferred environments, ie, butterfly dragon in a bright forest with flowers). And the blue dragon (I think someone called it Shadow Scale), it just, I still see it as a knock-off of the Night Fury. The powers are too similar. I can let the wyvern slip by as lighting itself on fire isn’t just a Monstrous Nightmare power, and I’ve see it in a few other dragon stories. One praise I will give, I do love the sound design of the dragons, each one of them, and I do like the design of the wyvern and the last dragon. Those two are really showing promise. With the rocky road this game has had, I just feel releasing a trailer like this, when Day of Dragons has been around for a while now, it’s unacceptable. Just compare it to Path of Titans, it’s been around for a relatively short time, but has a lot to offer, many dinosaurs with different abilities. I do hope Day of Dragons gets to be at a high level, and not like The Isle where it’s only really high because it’s the best of a short list. I mean gets to be a high level because it’s good, visually, is a fun time. I want something I will return to year round, and I just don’t see that with this game, and it’s because of this trailer.

@@mimi.b9630 I unfortunately don't have that luxury, I'm pretty much broke and have to choose carefully. And I am more criticizing the trailer and what it shows. Me, personally, if I were releasing a trailer for the game, I'd keep it short (under a minute), showing a quick story on one dragon trying to survive, encountering each dragon through its lifecycle, before showing player based clips closer to the end. And use a map that has been made for the game in the background, no placeholders. I've seen that map, it's beautiful, so why not use it for the entire trailer.

It feels like being in game looks and feels better than this trailer..

As an avid PVP player for 2 years now on this game with more hours than 1/2 of the content creators for this game at the moment. There are a LOT of issues with game mechanics not being fixed and sometimes poorly judged by admins in game. The flight mechanics were great and everything was fair until invisible rules from admins started to be put into place on what is and isn't a game mechanism or even cheating. Not to mention the LAG when there are 10+ people in an area fighting you'll slingshot from one part of West woods all the way to arch in 2 seconds or just blatantly CRASH into the ground and get killed by enemies and admins say fair play. There's still plenty of exploits in the game as well for people who don't " cheat " that still haven't been dealt with. I was so looking forward to 1.0 for us PVP players so we don't have to be in each other's butts 24/7 and actually enjoy the game to find out we aren't getting 1/2 of what PVE players will be getting. Let alone a decent anti-cheat, new AI, and the eldering system still hasn't been revealed! I've put in my constructive criticism more than once and I've gotten warnings and muted because God (can't get me here admins for religious slang -_-) forbid people are met with truth, but I'm looking out for fellow players and will not tip-toe around subjects if there's a blatant issue. I hope that y'all do a revamp of this trailer because yes in game the game looks WAY better than whatever happened after the first minute of this trailer as well as putting in false game mechanisms in the trailer 🥲. In game it looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL and hope you do better for yourselves. I hope you take the time to read through the constructive comments and not just the appeasement ones. You don't get better by not listening to people trying to better the game with you because they love it and don't wanna get let down.

Reason for the comment is because I like many have put actual money towards this game and it's development and videos to get more people to play it. Anyone else in the same boat should get the same respect as those who HAVE bought the game too because we have supported you guys and the least you can do is listen to the issues.

ok FIRST OF ALL, kid, complaining about game performance when obviously NO ONE ELSE has this issue is a skill issue on your part. Why not get a job and upgrade your computer instead of whining like a little spoiled turd who got killed as a hatchie too many times? Also, these admins work so darn hard in the game. You think they can just take your word for it cause you suck at the game, lag and die, so you just yell "HACKER" cause obviously it's impossible for you to die to lack of skill. They need solid proof that can't be dismissed with an alternative explanation. Educate yourself. Also, they didn't wanna release EVERYTHING in the trailer cause then what's left to be surprised about when it finally releases? Go on and do better than what this team is doing, then come back here and say something.

@syd6654 idk what mechanic you are talking about thh, each dragons have specials that are usable right now. There is progressive growth as well, there is all the system that the isle had in its infancy. You can't compare a 2 year in dev game to other much older games so in that regard DoD has a lot of mechanics

I hope that in the new update there will be a sand map and a volcanic one, they add a snowy one and that there will be a lot of mobs for food, that the map will not be empty. But of all that, I would like the map to be like in ARK, full of animal mobs, and I would add prehistoric villages and people who hunt and kill us, and we attack them. 🐃🦬🦌🐂🐑Herds of animals would add❤🦕🦖🐉

Ngl, the I agree with what others say about the Bio not matching the style of the rest of the environment or dragons, AND it looking like plastic. But it doesnt bother me too much, it seens like its purposfully meant to look alien, especially given how it glows, so Ill give it a pass. Still painfully excited for the update in Feb and Ill be struggling to be patient until then

Yeah they don't appear to have a proper direction with the aesthetic and style that they want. They took too much reference from other dragons from other franchises and it kinda messes up the immersion of the game. I get that these dragons are aliens but considering that this is supposed to be somewhat realistic game it falls flat on its face.

This trailer was ok. I suggest that you guys remake another one for the launch of the game. Be true to the lore and where dragons are supposed to be. Maybe add some things that are actually going to be in the game. Touch on perhaps the clan system and stuff like that show why people should play your game vs other. Why and how is it different. Don't restrict yourselves to some basic national geographic type stuff or basic trailer stuff. Some of the best trailers I have seen have integrated in-game stuff to. There will also be quests will there not possible touch on that. Even though this trailer isn't the best I still have faith in y'all and the game.

thats actually not as far fetched as you might think... there are jungles and such nearby deserts all the time... but that said the disconnect between the dragons and the environment is still REALLY BAD.

Are they adding an air-grapple mechanic? And if not, why is it in the trailer....

Honest reaction: it doesn't really sell the game. Or maybe the game as it is hasn't gotten enough to build an exciting trailer around. And I think it's the latter. Is that the developers' fault, I do not think so. It is just that the plan behind the completed game is very ambitious for the team and that they do what they can (I really believe that) , but you can'perform magic, so creation is limited by the amount of effort and time one can put in a project as this. Jao has my utmost respect as me also wanting to get into the game development scene, trying to teach myself the ropes. And the dragons look very cool and fun to play. The thing is though that the trailer shows 5 dragons that feel like they come from 5 different worlds (How to train your dragon Blue, My little pny Fairy, Monster hunter Drake, LoTR Spikey tail and Shrek Fireskin) and all look very dislocated with the world they have been put in. A very empty world with large strokes of nothing, even at flightspeed. I don't like to "bash" without coming up with an alternative, so how about this? What is the strongest point of the game? Community, growth and ambition, right? So, why not let the trailer start with a baby dragon hatching out of the egg? There are all kinds of dragons chilling together in a group (community) around the oasis, with other player babies running around, playing and do baby "hunting" like lion cubs. You then see a baby trying to hunt a small creature for themselves, but things go wrong and it is with intervention of an adult that the baby is saved (community/survival). Then you see the baby has grown into a young adult, changed from the cuddly goofy baby it was before, and so are his friends. You see the first time the main character spread their wings and take flight (growth), then see their friends have taken to the air with the main character as they are looking for their own prey now, maybe a big challenge, like the golem but fail and maybe lose a friend (community/survival). Then the trailer skips again. Now our dragon is big, majestic and soars through the skies, exploring the world as it flies over the different biomes it can explore now it is king of the skies. It then hears a cry for help, and finds a young dragon getting threatened by a suspiscously familiar golem. The viewer remembers the previous encounter with the golum as the main character, when they were the same age as the dragon in distress and without a second thought, the main character swoops in, lands on the stone and roars in rage as he/she spreads their wings (community/growth). Then you get the rather cool switch to the DoD main screen you did, followed by a reel of ingame video introducing all the dragons you got now, the current biomes, what the game is atm ("DoD is a unique experience where you can live life as a dragon. The game gets frequently updated with new dragon classes, new adversaries that threaten your survival and new gameplay mechanics that enhance your draconic experience. Join and interact with our friendly community and experience the additions firsthand while helping us create the best dragon experience with your bug reporta and suggestions. This is only the beginning". Then show the planned additions, like the dragons in concept, the elder dragon mechnanic, different NPC enemy concepts, etc. THis way the trailer shows the strong points of the current game (joining a fun communty of fellow dragon lovers, where playing together as mighty beings while surviving hostiles and different biomes is the core of the fun), It shows off your growth system, how flying looks and feels awesome, what kind of cool interactions you can have as a group, you show off a complete experience and you show why those that would join you because of what is currently in the game will want to stick around for as the game moves towards the future and cool new additions. The current trailer does not show the reasons people should join now (community, growth) or why they should keep an eye on this game or even join the game so they can experience future content as it gets added (ambition).

Stuff like this takes TIME to create and polish and work on. Countless tiring hours of hard work and dedication. You'd know this if you educated yourself even in the slightest, or if you ever had to WORK for anything in your life. Greatness takes TIME. This trailer is like Marmite

This 'game' is more about visuals and cool animations rather than actual interesting gameplay. Gameplay wise it's a flying/walking simulator, or a waiting game if you are into dragon gene breeding.

​@@Cross3x7sir, i'v been playing on uk5 for 2+ years between the end of the glorious era of alpha desert map placeholder and a few months after the arrival of FS. I'v been into breeding and pvping a lot on uk5, and perfectly know pvp in this game, this is why i can safely say it's unbalanced/bugged trash and wasn't even worth mentionning since that games has been subject to large scale hacks. If you take a step back, there are obviously better value games to put your money and time in rather than day of dragons. However i won't be able to help you if you are part of this community that consider Jao's as a god and can't take the slightest critic.

@@TheRiskyroar It may not be ripped directly from the movies, but it's still extremely similar. I recognized it immediately because The Isle's raptors also use the JP raptor "bark." It is very recognizable.

@allicat and a cat's meow is very recognizable. There's only so many sounds that are realistic to come out of a horse-sized reptile. That Simon has managed to make so many distinct sounds for each of the dragons is frankly miraculous

If only the flight system was actually that smooth to control and good looking.

??? I do have to agree, I was a little taken aback that the trailer didn't show off how great DoDs flight system is. It's frankly better in game, the physics based flight system is one of its best selling points. That this trailer only had takeoffs and flights in straight lines was a bit disappointing.

the blue dragons in the beginning is still one of my favorites it really gives off some avatar vibes to it

Guess its Okay, but the build up to the end felt like, eh. Would of made an interesting way to tell as a story instead of jump here an there with not a lot of connections to help with the flow. Its ok but they could of done a little better on the trailer

That is so cool!

You can't be serious about this, basically nothing matches with quality and texture style. The first dragons just doesn't blend whatsoever with the forest, neither does the turtle or the cat thing, they just stick out like a sore thumb. The stealth dragons animation is off, doesn't feel graceful when they land, and their skin detail ain't even close to the other dragons. Along with the giant wyrm that appears, just like small texture cloud, then hello here I am. Nothing that makes that appearance feel impactful either. The rock golem things noise feels like it's meant for a smaller creature, not something that can fight a dragon, least of all pick a fight with one. This game is not ready to be released or have a "launch" trailer, to show off how things are looking yes, but not for a launch. It'll not end well

This game took 500,000€ and gave us a game that was just bunch of paid assets mashed together and now we have a boring game with nothing to do in and the bare minimum of having original content. Now we are finally getting the game we were promised ages ago. Any criticism is good and you're on some STRONG copium to cope so hard that when someone gives good detailed explanation on why something doesn't work you dismiss it. This is probably one of the reasons why this game won't be as great as it could because it's community is so against criticism and don't understand that criticism help improve things.

This game could be good, one of the most unique and fun survival games, but how it's being handled stops it from becoming just that. How this game have been handled, makes Dondi working on The Isle look like a pro, while he has done some poor ass decisions in the past, at least he didn't do something this stupid. Releasing a trailer where lighting is not existent in the jungle, creatures with different texture qualities, and say it's the launch. Hope your ride on copium ride soon ends, and you can see what is truly in front of you

I would give the trailer a 9/10, I actually really enjoyed the trailer. I have a few criticisms about what was shown in the trailer. The Bio Dragon and the Toothless-looking creature really broke the immersion of the environment, I believe the Toothless-looking dragon needs to undergo a complete redesign because the Model doesn't reciprocate the quality of the other creatures featured in the trailer. The bio dragon in my opinion just needs a texture redesign because it looks really glossy and plasticky compared to the other creatures showcased in the video which takes away from the overall theme of the game. I don't know much of anything about Day Of Dragons this is coming from a first-time viewer who's waiting for the official launch of the game which I don't think a lot of aspiring developers would show their official launch trailer like this to their consumer base or stakeholders, but I'm sure things will change for the better..... hopefully. Other than that I would say the trailer was pretty decent and I look forward to the launch of the game.

No. School of Dragons is basically HTTYD but as an MMO. There are no humans in DoD.

i havent played since the fire breath dragons were added. hope they added enough to make it worth it. the map seemed a lil baron still, last time i was on.

Listen jao we pvpers like the update but it was a bit too much that was not needed like the ui system its fine how it is now. The map is beautiful great job love the upcoming dragon and wish the best for the game in the future but we actually love this game no matter how much we talk crap about it💀 we just need consistent updates

Yup, all DLC can be nested in, regardless of if you own it. Stat progression is also tied to nesting bloodlines so if you want good stats, you need to get a nested dragon.

The ss being eaten by the boss is my new favorite part

They pushed back the release once, because their lead dev and only code writer nearly died from a collapsed lung and pneumonia. I understand the upset, but feel free to join the community to stay up to date on what they're working on and how progress is developing ❤
